Emily Blunt and Jason Segel Join Jack Black in ‘Travels’

jasonemily_blunt

Emily Blunt and Jason Segel will be starring with Jack Black in the upcoming film, Gulliver’s Travels.

Twentieth Century Foxis negotiating withEmily BluntandJason Segelto join Jack Black in “Gulliver’s Travels,” theRob Letterman-directed reimagining of the classicJonathan Swifttale.

Blunt had already been offered the role of Black Widow in “Iron Man 2,” but that may not be an option because of “Gulliver’s Travels.” Fox holds an option on the actress that was part of her deal when she co-starred in”The Devil Wears Prada,”and the studio may invoke it to see that she takes part in the giant tale.

While Blunt’s reps are still trying to work out scheduling so she can play both roles, it will be an uphill battle because of scheduling overlap. “Gulliver’s Travels” will shoot in the U.K. in late March; “Iron Man 2″ is expected to begin lensing in early April in Manhattan Beach, Calif.

Great casting so far, I love the old story. It will be really fun to see a new version with these actors. Hopefully they can manage to make it more than just a kids movie.

Sounds like it may be funny, and sure to offend.

Joaquin Phoenix And Jack Black: Separated At Birth?

I can’t get over how much Joaquin Phoenix looks like Jack Black back when he was in Tropic Thunder. Joaquin has been freaking me out lately by retiring from movies to work on his singing. A lot of people say that Joaquin reminds them of the way River Phoenix was before he died. (I remember River dying but I can’t remember what he was like before that.) I just hope that he made the right decision.

Jack Black Will Star in ‘Gulliver’s Travels’

Jack Black is set to star in a brand new Gulliver’s Travels film.

The film centers on free-spirited travel writer Lemuel Gulliver (Black) on assignment in Bermuda who suddenly finds himself a giant among the tiny inhabitants of the hidden island of Liliput.

“Shark Tale” helmer Rob Letterman will direct, with Nicholas Stoller (“Fun With Dick and Jane”) polishing a script by Joe Stillman (“Shrek”).

I loved this story as a kid, Jack Black is a great choice for this role, hopefully it will have more than just a childish appeal.

‘Kung Fu Panda 2′ is Coming

The animated film Kung Fu Panda with the voice ofJack Blackis going to get a sequel according to hollyscoop.com.

The movie grossed $560 million in global sales, making it Dreamworks’ most successful movie ever.

Dreamworks chief executive, Jeffrey Katzenberg said, “We’ve started conversations about it, and I think in the next 30 or 60 days, we’ll be able to talk completely about that.

Don’t expect the movie to hit theaters anytime soon though, the original Kung Fu Panda took 4 years to make.

When I first heard about Kung Fu Panda I was apprehensive to say the least, but after hearing it was good I finally saw it. Great film! Now I welcome the idea of a sequel, I just hope they can accomplish an equally entertaining continuation of the story.

Will ‘The Dark Knight’ Succumb to ‘Tropic’ Fever?

The Dark Knight has made $445.3 million domestically as of monday night. $708.8 million is it’s grand total worldwide so far. This film has remained on the top of the heap in the USA since it’s release 4 weekends ago. This weekend is likely to be the first that the film fails to reach the top spot as the new Ben Stiller comedy Tropic Thunder hits theaters. The star power of Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., and Jack Black are likely to pull in a large audience. Especially with the buzz over the boycott against the film for the use of the word ‘retarded’. When will people learn that there is no such thing as bad publicity?
