Jackie Chan is Not Dead!

Jackie Chan was reported dead this morning in big twitter hoax. Jackie Chan is ‘alive and well’ according to his official facebook page which included a photo taken of him today meeting with the Japan Consul.

Jackie Chan probably woke up in bewilderment this morning upon learning that folks on Twitter had been eulogizing him all night after someone pulled a hoax and managed to get “RIP Jackie Chan” among the social network’s top trending topics, tricking several users into mistakenly believing that the action star had in fact died. The good news: Jackie’s not dead. The bad news: someone over at Twitter quality control must have slept in this morning, because the hoax-based trending topic is still visible.

I can’t imagine waking up to a mass of eulogies. Talk about an odd way to face your mortality! Thankfully Jackie is still alive and still working. He seems like an incredibly healthy guy, I’m sure he’s got at least another 25 years of success ahead. It’s amazing to me how seriously people take Twitter reports; check your facts people!

New Full ‘Karate Kid’ Trailer Doesn’t Surprise

The Karate Kid Poster

Here’s the new full trailer for the upcoming remake The Karate Kid starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith.

Still looks like it could be a fun movie, but it’s not exactly pulling any new tricks here. Pretty standard stuff here, just new actors doing it. Source: Trailer Addict

‘The Karate Kid’ Poster is Painfully Basic

The Karate Kid Poster

Here’s the poster for the new film The Karate Kid starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith.

This poster just doesn’t do anything interesting. It’s exactly the same as the title in the trailer. I’m sure they will make another one, hopefully it will be a little more dynamic.

‘The Karate Kid’ Trailer Quite Watchable

The Karate Kid

Here’s the trailer for the upcoming remake The Karate Kid starring Jackie Chan.

I’m surprised by how watchable this movie looks! I do love Jackie Chan so I doubt I’d have any interest if it weren’t him.

Jackie Chan’s ‘The Spy Next Door’ Poster

The Spy Next Door Poster

Here’s the poster for Jackie Chan‘s new movie, The Spy Next Door.

Former CIA spy Bob Ho (Chan) takes on his toughest assignment to date: looking after his girlfriend’s three kids, who haven’t exactly warmed to their mom’s beau. And when one of the youngsters accidentally downloads a top-secret formula, Bob’s longtime nemesis, a Russian terrorist, pays a visit to the family.

Ok, this poster is clearly an extension of the simplicity of what is clearly just a kids movie. I love Jackie Chan, but this is not something I’ll be watching from the sounds of it.

Apparently the title is changing from The Karate Kid to Kung Fu Kid, which makes total sense. Strange that this artwork was just released though. Perhaps they haven’t decided yet.

Jackie Chan is Officially the New Mr. Miyagi

jackie_chan240miyagi

Jackie Chan is officially playing Mr. Miyagi in the new remake The Karate Kid.

Jackie Chan will play the wise kung-fu master in a Hollywood-Chinese remake of the 1984 hit “The Karate Kid” that kicked off filming in the Chinese capital at the weekend, a movie company publicist said Monday.

Chan’s young disciple in “Kung Fu Kid” will be played by Jaden Smith, the son of Hollywood superstars Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, China Film Group spokesman Weng Li told The Associated Press in a phone interview.

I still think this is a bad idea, as much as I love Jackie Chan. I really hope it has some sort of new spin on it.

Jackie Chan Gets His 100th Movie!

Jackie Chan is a big screen legend, and now he’s about to make his 100th film! It’s called Chinese Zodiac.

Jackie Chan has his 100th film project.

The Hong Kong-based action hero will star in and co-direct “Chinese Zodiac,” an action caper with a budget set at 250 million yuan ($37 million), Chan told The Hollywood Reporter.

Produced by Emperor Motion Pictures subsidiary Emperor Dragon Movies, “Zodiac” will see Chan on a series of treasure hunts across the globe that are intricately linked with one of the major events in Chinese history.

I’ve always been a fan, and I’m sure this will be a worthy 100th film for him. He’s been a busy man for so long and he shows no signs of slowing down.

Jackie Chan to Train the New ‘Karate Kid’

Jackie Chan will most likely take on the role of Mr. Miyagi in the feature film remake of Karate Kid.

The martial arts star is in negotiations to star in Columbia’s remake of “The Karate Kid.” He would take on the role of mentor Mr. Miyagi, made famous by Pat Morita in the original franchise.

The studio also has signed Harald Zwart to helm the picture, which possibly will begin shooting this year in Beijing.

Jaden Smith is set to star as the boy to be mentored by Chan’s character. Like the original, which starred Morita and Ralph Macchio, the movie will examine the relationship between a martial arts expert and a boy who is picked on by bullies.

I’m not looking forward to the remake, but Jackie Chan is always a pleasure to watch; he’s always be one of my favorites.
