‘Avatar’ Dominates Box Office and Breaks Records

avatarnewposterprincess_and_the_frog

This past weekend (Dec 18 – Dec 20) dawned the release of the much anticipated James Cameron film Avatar and it’s the clear winner. The film made a record $77.3 million, the most of any movie ever that is not sequel, a remake nor a direct adaptation. Not to mention the biggest December opening ever, beating I Am Legend by only $100,000. The only other new movie on the top ten list is Did You Hear About the Morgans? making a mild $7 million landing it in the #4 spot under The Princess and the Frog and The Blind Side.

Corny B-Movie Claims to be Inspiration for James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’

Princess of Mars Image 1Princess of Mars Image 2

Princess of Mars is a new corny B-movie that is claiming to be the inspiration for James Cameron‘s Avatar. Check out this trailer.

Clearly this is just a desperate attempt to get people to go see this movie. From the trailer it looks like there are only two scenes in the whole thing. Antonio Sabato Jr. and Traci Lords!? Hilarious.

Interactive New ‘Avatar’ Trailer Packed with New Footage and Details

avatar4

The official Avatar website has a new interactive trailer that has full character profiles from all of the main stars. It’s loaded with new footage and details.

20th Century Fox has launched a new “Interactive Trailer” on the official website for James Cameron’s Avatar that uses the Adobe Air technology and features new profiles on Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), Trudy Chacon (Michelle Rodriguez), Selfridge (Giovanni Ribisi), Dr. Grace Augustine (Sigourney Weaver), and the designs for the Samson, Banshee, Scorpion, Thanator and AMP suit.

You can download the “Interactive Trailer” to your desktop here!

It almost seems like overkill in terms of how much is revealed in all of these clips and character descriptions. I guess when it comes down to it, people will see the movie no matter what. I’m still looking forward to it, but I don’t really want to see much more revealed until I see it in it’s full IMAX 3D glory.

New Japanese ‘Avatar’ Trailer Loaded with New Footage

AVATAR

Here’s a new Japanese trailer for the upcoming film Avatar which has a lot of new footage not seen in the United States trailer.

This is such a visually rich movie, it’s bound to be a very engaging experience. Remember, this is the first feature length film shot entirely in the IMAX 3D format, so these tiny little boxed up trailers can’t possibly give you the true feel of the experience.

New Full ‘Avatar’ Trailer Looking Pretty Epic, Yet Animated

avatar

Here’s the full feature trailer for James Cameron‘s Avatar.

Well if there was any question how the story line would go, it’s pretty obvious now. The movie looks epic, but totally looks like an animated film when it’s not live action. Maybe CGI isn’t where it was supposed to be by now, but this movie will definitely be a treat. Maybe in five years when Avatar 2 comes out it will look more realistic.

Opening in 3D theaters and IMAX 3D on December 18, the movie stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Peter Mensah, Laz Alonso, Wes Studi, Stephen Lang and Matt Gerald.

Slowly, more and more publicity for this film is trickling out. I expect it to be a marketing blitz come mid November, you know this movie is going to make a lot.

New ‘Avatar’ Trailer Details and Photos

avatar4

Here are some new images and details on the new trailer for the upcoming James Cameron film Avatar.

avatar2avatar3avatar1

First off, this trailer has a lot of the same footage already in the first teaser. It was only about halfway through that I realized that this was the new trailer. This one has a lot more plot in it, they introduce the female Na’vi character and the romance between her and the main character. We get to see a lot of cool images, like the evil human general character (I’m assuming he’s evil) in a giant mech destroying things, but with a cup of coffee in his hands. We also get glimpses of the Michelle Rodriguez character (she says something along the lines of, “We’re going up against machines and all we’ve got are sticks!” so I’m assuming she joins the good guys) and some of the other Na’vi.  I don’t remember too many of the other details. Overall though, this trailer had a much more epic feel to it. I was one of the many who was disappointed when the teaser was revealed, but this has brought my hype level up.

The new trailer sounds like it’s much better than the first one. With only a couple months before it’s release, it’s about time they start making people genuinely excited about it. Check it out in theaters this weekend and online next week!

Full ‘Avatar’ Trailer Coming to Theaters on Oct. 23rd

avatar_concept_art_31

The full 3 minute and 30 second trailer for the much anticipated film from director James Cameron Avatar will hit theaters on October 23th, 2009.

ComingSoon.net has confirmed that 20th Century Fox will debut a new trailer for James Cameron’s Avatar in theaters this Friday, October 23rd! The trailer, which clocks in at roughly around 3 minutes and 30 seconds, won’t be coming online until October 29th. You should really see this in theaters anyways as we’ve learned that this is THE trailer, the one that will show you much more story (as opposed to the teaser trailer previously released).

It’s almost strange that the full trailer for this movie is coming out this late, considering the movie is in theaters in 2 months. Hope it can manage to live up to the hype, Cameron is great at sci-fi.
