James Franco’s Hot Gucci Made-To-Measure Ads

James Franco is a versatile artist and seriously hot so who better to have to promote a custom-tailored clothing line!

Photographer Nathaniel Goldberg took advantage of the actor’s sexiness and put it to good use in their new ad campaign for Gucci Made To Measure with this “All The World’s A Stage” set of photos.

“James has an innate ability to fuse classic elegance with contemporary style and interpret formalwear in an individual way, true to the spirit of our Made to Measure service,” the label’s creative director, Frida Giannini said. “With Gucci’s Made in Italy tradition and sartorial expertise, personalized formalwear is the ultimate way for a man to express his own style.”

Franco,33, was snapped in Rome at the film studio Cinecittà for the shots which feature him decked out in the luxury goods brand superior suits looking suitably (ha!) sexy.

The service is set to be available in 11 stores by the end of the year with prices starting at around $3000. Customers will be able to choose from a wide variety of fabrics, colors and added details including diamante embroidery and the designs take about six weeks to execute.

James Franco: Just Chilling In Venice

James Franco

James Franco premiered his film Sal at the Venice Film Festival to mixed reviews, but does he look bothered?  Heck no.  He’s James Franco!  He’ll just move on to the next cool, random thing that captures his imagination.

Sal is based on Michael Gregg Michaud‘s biography of actor Sal Mineo, who was murdered in 1976.  Oh, now that’s the decade for James, who also stars in the film.  James plays legendary acting coach Milton Katselas; Val Lauren plays the title character.

More photos after the jump.

How Many Degrees Does James Franco Need?

I remember at the end of my senior year of college, all of us who had student loans had to attend a mandatory counseling session to ensure that we understood that we did, in fact, have to pay them back.  They tried to scare us by laying out the dire consequences of not paying back our loans, but also explained all the ways that we could temporarily delay paying them off  – going to graduate school being one of them.   I distinctly remember asking, “Is there a limit to the number of consecutive years you can take advantage of the “enrolled in school” deferment?  Theoretically, if you just kept going to one graduate program after another, you could keep deferring your loans forever, right?”

I may or may not have been drinking right before I went to that meeting, but I couldn’t have been too messed up, because  when I heard that James Franco has enrolled in another doctoral program, all I could think was, “Huh.  Maybe I’m not the only one who considered perpetual academia as a way to avoid paying student loans.”  (I also am pretty sure James can use his ample earnings to pay off any student loans he might have taken, so I am sure he doesn’t have the same motivation.)

Wait, another doctoral program?  Yes.  He’s already supposedly attending an English program at Yale.  Now he’s pursuing a PhD in literature and creative writing at the University of Houston.    I have no idea why he thinks he needs two doctorates, or why he’d want to work on them at the same time, but you gotta love the guy for being THAT freaking smart.

First ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ Trailer Lands

Here’s the first trailer for the upcoming prequel Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

The visual effects are amazing! It’s pretty astonishing to see how far technology has come since the first movie. In terms of the story, it doesn’t exactly seem all that compelling to me since we know the outcome. I’m hoping this movie has a solid script and doesn’t rely too heavily on the visuals.

James Franco Returns To ‘General Hospital’ (Video)

Is James Franco a Renaissance man, a jack of all trades (master of none), or afflicted with severe occupational ADD? However you view his increasingly varied career, one thing is for sure: he’ll be back on General Hospital this week. It’s a nice follow-up to his Oscars-hosting stint tonight, don’t you think?

As you may recall, James plays an artist-assassin named Franco. Behold the promo clip above wherein Franco (the character) proclaims, “I’m back. Did you miss me?”

ABC promises that Franco’s re-appearance on the show will be significant. They said he will:

“wreak havoc once again in Port Charles as he makes a very important phone call to his arch-nemesis Jason Morgan.”

Oh, the drama! Enjoy James… I mean, Franco… I mean… oh heck. Just watch the clip!

James Franco Oscar Nominees Luncheon PHOTOS

James Franco attended the Academy Awards nominations luncheon yesterday (February 7th) held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The actor came decked out in a Gucci suit with a black shirt and no tie for the afternoon affair.

Franco, who is set to cohost the Oscars with Anne Hathaway on February 27th, is also a nominee in the Best Actor category for his portrayal of stranded hiker Aron Ralston in 127 Hours.

More Franco photos are under. (Read the article)

James Franco to Take Johnny Depp’s ‘Oz, the Great and Powerful’?

James Franco is reportedly up for the role of Oz in the upcoming Sam Raimi film Oz, the Great and Powerful since Johnny Depp passed on the role.

The Oscar-nominated host of the Academy Awards is in early talks to star in Oz, the Great and Powerful, Disney’s prequel-ish take on The Wizard of Oz tale being directed by Sam Raimi.

The Oz role has been a hot one since Robert Downey Jr. fell out two and a half weeks ago. Johnny Depp was then in discussions for the role but after several meetings ultimately passed last night.

James Franco is one of those actors that I just didn’t see getting this big a few years ago, but he’s proven himself to be quite the contender. His well deserved Oscar nomination has led to so much more opportunity for him! He’d definitely work for this role, he could easily pull off the eccentricity of this character with that goofy smile of his.

Vanity Fair 17th Annual Hollywood Issue 2011 PHOTO

Vanity Fair’s Annual Hollywood Issue cover is upon us. The March 2011 cover shot by Norman Jean Roy, features some of the hottest names in movies right now. The mag proclaims: “Vanity Fair went back to the basics—no teenagers, no penguins, no (full-on) nudity, just the most exciting actors and actresses of the moment.”

But once again, it’s a pretty white bread deal. The four actors on the front cover are (left to right) Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway and James Franco.

The rest of ‘Hot Hollywood’ featured after the fold out are (left to right following Franco,) Jennifer Lawrence, Anthony Mackie, Olivia Wilde, Jesse Eisenberg, Mila Kunis, Robert Duvall, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Andrew Garfield, Rashida Jones, Garrett Hedlund and Noomi Rapace (see the larger/full photo under.)

This is mainstream Hollywood at it’s finest, which I guess is exactly what you buy VF for. The only two actors of color (Mackie and Jones) do not make the front and the only older actor (over 35) Duvall is hidden in the back like they were ashamed to include him.

Vanity Fair has come under fire for it’s white, white and more white focus in the past years, but what do you think? Is it the magazine’s fault or Hollywood in general for only casting white?

This issue goes on sale in New York and Los Angeles February 3rd and then nationally on February 8th.
