Actress Jenny McCarthy on Larry King Live to discuss the huge rise in autism yelled bulls*** at a doctor during a live taping of the show on Wednesday night.

That is quite a revolutionary statement. Actors Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey have written an editorial for CNN regarding the improvement and what they are calling ‘recovery’ from autism of McCarthy’s son, Evan. They make the bold statement that there are things that parents (and the very reluctant doctors) can do to improve a child’s chances of regaining skill sets that were not developing properly.
We believe what helped Evan recover was starting a gluten-free, casein-free diet, vitamin supplementation, detox of metals, and anti-fungals for yeast overgrowth that plagued his intestines. Once Evan’s neurological function was recovered through these medical treatments, speech therapy and applied behavior analysis helped him quickly learn the skills he could not learn while he was frozen in autism. After we implemented these therapies for one year, the state re-evaluated Evan for further services. They spent five minutes with Evan and said, “What happened? We’ve never seen a recovery like this.”
Evan is now 5 years old and what might surprise a lot of you is that we’ve never been contacted by a single member of the CDC, the American Academy of Pediatrics, or any other health authority to evaluate and understand how Evan recovered from autism. When Evan meets doctors and neurologists, to this day they tell us he was misdiagnosed — that he never had autism to begin with. It’s as if they are wired to believe that children can’t recover from autism.
McCarthy has been out spoken about autism, what can be done about it and the medical community’s hesitation in re-examining the number and ingredients in vaccines given to children. Many critics have been launching attacks against the vaccines and the drug companies use of certain preservatives that they believe are responsible for the increase in autism diagnosis in the past 10 years. If her son has recovered, it will give a lot of parents hope. I truly hope it is as she says.

Actress and activist Jenny McCarthy is speaking out about how diet and supplements can (allegedly) help ease symptoms of those diagnosed with autism. She feels that doctors in the US are too quick to dismiss the benefits and do not advocate it enough to help people in need.
She says, “I’ve been speaking to moms across the country who are all shouting out the same thing: ‘This (diet and supplement intake) is working.’ It’s so heartbreaking to see the medical community not support something called diet and vitamins. And it pains us, city after city after city. I see this heartbreak on these mom’s faces. Autism isn’t covered by (medical) insurance. If things like diets and supplements are working, then why not support it? These kids are getting better and I will not shut up and will not stop fighting about it.”
There is a lot of speculation on what has caused the dramatic rise in autism in the recent years and what to do once a child is diagnosed with it. McCarthy, who is currently dating Jim Carrey (who she has referred to as ‘the autism whisperer’) has a five year old son, Evan, who suffers from autism.

Author, actress, comic and former playmate, Jenny McCarthy was on hand to have some fun at Sapphires Gentlemen’s Club in Las Vegas. The world’s largest 24 hour adult entertainment complex was celebrating it’s 5th anniversay. McCarthy also has a new movie, Witless Protection, due out February 22nd.

Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey attended a fundraiser at a private home recently to raise money for autism research. Dr. David Feinberg of UCLA (and supporter of the early autism intervention program) remarked that McCarthy was “his hero” for her work on autism awareness.
So impressed was Feinberg with McCarthy’s efforts, he said, that his son used her as a subject for a school paper on heroes. In researching his essay, the youngster was instructed by his father “to Google” McCarthy, whose resumé includes being a Playboy Playmate.
This got a laugh from the audience and a rise out of Carrey – who leapt to his feet, shot an Ace Ventura glower around the room and then fixed his eyes on Feinberg.
“What’s your son doing Googling my girlfriend?” Carrey demanded to know.
McCarthy has a 5 year old son, Evan, with autism and she has referred to Carrey as “the autism whisperer.” Cute story of two people who appear very much in love and who are supporting each other.
