She’s just given birth to her first child, but Jessica Simpson isn’t leaving pregnancy clothing behind. The 31 year-old Fashion Star judge and mentor has just announced her burgeoning fashion empire is expanding with a line of maternity wear.

Simpson is teaming up with Destination Maternity for a fall debut and the clothing will be available their namesake stores and website along with Motherhood Maternity and Macy’s carrying the pieces.

Varying patterns, textures and styles for a 70s bohemian vibe, the line will include everything from maxi dresses and tops to denim and leggings and will start at a very reasonable $36.

“I’m so excited to partner with Destination Maternity to design a collection of fashionable styles that make you look and feel great!” Simpson said in a press release, ”You want to wear clothes that are flattering to your baby bump; you want to show your bump off.”

Simpson may well take in the $1 billion in sales this year her fashion empire was projected to make.

Simpson just gave birth to her and fiance Eric Johnson‘s daughter Maxwell Drew on May 1st.

Mommy mogul, indeed.

It was rumored she had already given birth but today, May 1st, was the day for Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson‘s daughter to make her debut in the world.

The couple welcomed a 21 3/4 long; 9 lb, 13 oz baby girl into their lives.

Simpson and Johnson chose to name her Maxwell Drew Johnson. The name has family significance – Maxwell is Eric’s middle name and Drew is Jessica’s mom’s maiden name.

When the Fashion Star judge appeared pregnant and nude on the April cover of Elle magazine, Simpson revealed she was having a girl and said she was nervous her girl would be more of a tomboy and less interested in fashion than she is.

“I swear, I will croak if she asks me for a pair of Nikes instead of Christian Louboutins!” she told the magazine.

“Eric is so athletic – we’re gonna have this athletic girl and I won’t even be able to take her shopping, ’cause all she’s gonna want is sports bras and Nikes!”

Hopefully she gets a little bit of both in Maxwell.

“Lay off!”

Tori Spelling has harsh words for critics of Jessica Simpson who say the Fashion Star mommy-to-be has gained too much pregnancy weight.

“When women are pregnant, people need to lay off,” Spelling told Celebuzz. “It’s a really special time and you should be able to deal with it in your own terms.”

Spelling’s remarks came as the 31 year-old singer/actress/entrepreneur has been criticized in the media for the amount of weight she’s gained while pregnant.

Simpson made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel‘s late night talk show where Jessica told him she’s retaining a lot of amniotic fluid.

“Apparently I have a lot of amniotic fluid, so whenever my water breaks it will be like a fire hydrant!” Simpson said.

Jessica’s explanation was derided by The View co-host Joy Behar who criticized Simpson’s weight gain.

“Remember the time that Jessica Simpson was criticized because she didn’t know the difference between chicken and tuna? That kind of thing is more fun to criticize than the fact that the girl is fat,” Behar told the audience on Tuesday’s show.

“Most women who are pregnant are not supposed to gain more than 25 pounds. She looks like she gained a lot more than that.”

Spelling came to Simpson’s defense after those comments and noted that each woman’s pregnancy is unique.

“Every body is different. As far as weight, you never know what is going to happen. You can’t control what angle people are snapping your photo from,” Spelling said.

Jessica’s health and the well-being of her unborn baby are no one’s business but hers, her fiance’s and her doctor’s.

Jessica Simpson lands the April 2012 cover of Elle magazine and gives up a familiar pose.

The 31 year-old Fashion Star mentor and business woman revealed she’s having a girl and is worried she’ll be sports-minded instead of a shopaholic…

“I swear, I will croak if she asks me for a pair of Nikes instead of Christian Louboutins!” she told the magazine.

“Eric is so athletic – we’re gonna have this athletic girl and I won’t even be able to take her shopping, ’cause all she’s gonna want is sports bras and Nikes!”

The same I’m-pregnant-and-naked-but strategically-covering-my-boobs-pose was unique in 1991 when Annie Leibovitz shot Demi Moore for the cover of Vanity Fair but now it’s been done too often.

It’s most famous reenactments have been Britney Spears for Harper’s Bazaar in 2006 and Marie Claire’s cover with Christina Aguillera in 2008, as well as supermodels Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer.

I wish Elle magazine had tried to do something unique. But the shopping quote kills me. Seriously Jessica?

Jessica Simpson has that holiday sparkle going on the cover of the December issue of Lucky magazine.

The 31 year-old wears a gold glittering dress from Gryphon and talks weight, her fiance (and soon-to-be-baby-daddy) Eric Johnson and about her business.

On her weight and the attention it brings: “I got so much scrutiny for putting on extra pounds, but I think that the decision not to make myself anorexic was actually great for branding. Because when you’re really, really skinny, not everybody can relate to you. Everybody fluctuates, but I’m open about my weight and I’m still confident. I didn’t cry about it too much.”

On Eric and her wedding dress plans: “When I met him I just felt so comfortable with myself and where I was in my life that if he didn’t want to be part of it, he didn’t have to be. I haven’t started shopping for our wedding yet. When I got engaged, everyone thought I would get married immediately, but I have not put a single dress on, and by the time this comes out I will not be married! We’re just enjoying being engaged right now—and that’s honest.”

On ‘styling America’: “If it has my name on it, I want my stamp of approval to be on it I want to keep my customers coming back. So it’s going to be important to me in these next years to stay focused on the collection. I love that I can dream about paisley, and then two months later, someone’s wearing it. I’m basically styling America.”

Jessica’s issue is on newsstands Tuesday, November 8th.

Jessica Simpson confirms one of the worst kept pregnancy secrets – she is indeed expecting.

Simpson finally acknowledged what everyone has speculated on (for better or worse, she was sporting a belly bump – not just simply weight gain) and slipped the baby news in a Halloween post.

“It’s true – I’m going to be a mummy,” she tweeted while she cradled her tummy in a mummy Halloween costume.

The 31 year-old and her fiancé, NFL star Eric Johnson have been mum about the obvious until today.

Jessica’s younger sister Ashlee Simpson has a child, 3 year-old Bronx Mowgli, with her ex-husband Pete Wentz.

This will be Jessica and Eric’s first child.

Jessica will be a judge on NBC‘s upcoming reality competition show Fashion Star with Nicole Richie and Elle MacPherson.

Jessica Simpson seemed more than ready to tie the knot with former NFL player Eric Johnson when they got engaged 10 months ago.  Actually, it seemed like perhaps she was ready to tie the knot with anyone, but Eric’s the one who asked.   But sources are saying that she might not be prepared for that walk down the aisle after all.  Us Weekly quotes their sources:

“She was so gung ho about planning their wedding, and now she’s gone dark.  She won’t commit to a date.  Everything is up in the air.  She can’t figure out what kind of day she wants. Some days she wants a big wedding in Hawaii, then other days she wants something closer to home.”

This doesn’t sound right.  I had her pegged for the kind of girl who would have every detail planned out in advance, so she could just jump right on it when someone proposed.  Kind of like Kim Kardashian, you know?

Jessica Simpson decided it was time to put the rumors to rest that she was about to have breast reduction surgery by err, supporting her breasts.

“Been getting lots of questions about this alleged breast reduction…not to worry…I LOVE MY BOOBIES!! They aren’t going anywhere!” she tweeted.

“It’s UDDERly not true!” Simpson continued. “Breast assured everyone!”

The 31 year-old fashion mogul has a new reality competition show debuting on NBC. Fashion Star will bow mid season and stars Simpson, Nicole Richie and Elle MacPherson.

She is also engaged to NFL player Eric Johnson.
