She’s building her own billion dollar fashion empire at an incredible pace and now Jessica Simpson joins NBC’s reality TV show, Fashion Star, to offer advice to aspiring designers.

The 30 year-old Dukes of Hazzard actress will mentor contestants on the Elle MacPherson-hosted show where 14 fashion designers vie for the opportunity to bring their designs to a major retailer.

A weekly fashion show plus the chance for viewers to purchase the winning looks sets it apart from it’s biggest competitor, Project Runway.

Simpson’s role will be similar to that of PR’s Tim Gunn, but will she be able to be entertaining, witty and offer constructive criticism in the role without coming across as the ditzy blonde that launched her into super stardom on the MTV series Newlyweds with her then husband Nick Lachey.

Whatever you think of Jessica’s role in her namesake fashion line – how much decision-making does she really do – she has enough smarts to have signed on to the idea at a bare minimum. Hopefully what she has to offer really translates well for the contestants success.

How she comes across will be another matter entirely.

It’s a fashionable Sister Act.

Following in the footsteps of Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, another set of famous designing sisters, Ashlee and Jessica Simpson are launching a fashion endeavor for themselves.

Jessica, who is already head of her own billion dollar clothing and accessories empire, is expanding into the tween and teen demographic of 7- to 16-year-olds, with Ashlee as co-creative director.

“Creating a tween apparel collection was a natural extension for the brand. I’m excited to bring my sister, Ashlee, along as co-creative director of this division, because she brings a savvy rocker edge that defines today’s tweens,” Jessica told Women’s Wear Daily.

Ashlee says “My goal as co-creative director will be to design clothes that will help inspire young girls to express their personalities and creativity through fashion.”

The line which is still unnamed, will feature denim, sportswear and activewear (with footwear to follow,) will debut sometime later this year.

It’s celebrity branding gone wild. It just never ends.

Jessica Simpson is getting wedding ready and it’s showing in her figure.

The Dukes of Hazzard star is set to marry boyfriend, former NFL player Eric Johnson and her work outs are showing. She was honored at the US Weekly Hot Hollywood Style Issue Event at Eden in Los Angeles and she looks fabulous!

The 30 year-old wore a multi-print short dress to the party to show off her fab figure.

Simpson was named Style Icon of the Year and she told the magazine she’s feeling happy and healthy and enjoys being a mogul.

“This year, I’ve taken time for myself to enjoy being engaged and in love and being a businesswoman instead of an entertainer,” Simpson said. “It’s really helped the collection!”

As if Jessica Simpson doesn’t already have enough products with her name slapped on them, she’s now launched a line of prom dresses.    Why did she do this?  Well, to make money, of course.  But she says it was to help girls, really it was:

“Inspired by the fabulous designer gowns I’ve worn to red carpet events, my affordable collection is designed to fit and flatter a variety of body types and help girls achieve their own red carpet style for Prom.”

Right.  But at least they’re not as slutty as some of the other prom dresses I’ve seen this season.  Jessica’s dresses will be sold at David’s Bridal and will be priced in the $139-$229 range.   Hey, at least the Kardashians don’t have a line of prom wear… yet….

When did this happen?

Fragrance, shoes, clothing and accessories make The Jessica Simpson Collection crazy popular and earned the sometime singer $750 million dollars this year. The projections hit $1 billion dollars for next year as she expands her line to include sportswear that comes out in late 2011.

“She is the girl next door and has great product,” says [Licensing CEO Vince] Camuto, adding, ”People like her. People look at her as a style icon.”

Simpson has a lot to be happy about. Her empire is making her loads of dough and she just got engaged to former NFL player Eric Johnson on November 11th.

Jessica Simpson once proclaimed “REAL WOMEN EAT MEAT,” but apparently not this Thanksgiving.  She is going to cook a vegan Thanksgiving meal out of respect for fiance Eric Johnson‘s dietary preferences.

Instead of a turkey, she is making a Tofurkey, which is, as you may have guessed from the name, made of tofu.  Jessica admits she’s not exactly looking forward to it.

“It doesn’t sound right! It’s gonna be jiggly and weird.”

Actually, Tofurkey is not bad at all.  This is not the first time she’s gone meatless, though – just a few months ago Jess was Tweeting about her vegan detox diet.    Who knows – maybe she’ll entirely reform her diet for love?

Jessica Simpson is following in her ex-husband’s footsteps but getting engaged only 2 weeks after Nick.  Eric Johnson popped the question and naturally, Jessica said yes.

They have been dating since May and Eric’s divorce from his first wife was recently finalized.

Jessica Simpson and her search for a soldier from overseas has concluded.  Tennessee-born John Britt competed against nine of his peers aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Harry S. Truman in the Persian Gulf.  John sang for Jessica on October 1 and won her over.

Jessica Simpson Wears The WRONG Dress For Project Runway Finale

“It’s been a dream of mine since I found my first guitar in the attic as a kid.  I think I impressed her with my singing ability.”

They will be singing “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” on her Christmas album and then again together at Rockefeller Center’s tree-lighting ceremony in New York City on November 30.

“She’s very talented.  I’ve seen The Dukes of Hazzard and Employee of the Month, I’ve listened to her music…. I’m excited!”

The album entitled, Happy Christmas will release on November 23 at Macy’s and JessicaSimpson.com, then you can get it anywhere on December 7.

Yawn.  For someone who claims not to have body image issues any more, Jessica Simpson sure can’t stop talking about her weight.    She spoke at California First Lady Maria Shriver‘s annual Women’s Conference and said:

“I went through a really hard time, a couple years back with people just harping on the pressure of how to look perfect – obviously using me and my weight. It was a tabloid frenzy… people are constantly curious as to how much I weigh or what I look like or what I wear…there’s no way you’re not going to be affected by the ugly things people say about you. It’s very hurtful.”

Do you know WHY people are constantly curious about your weight, Jess?  Because you won’t shut your trap about it, that’s why.

“Plus, one lucky U.S. soldier in Afghanistan will get to sing a duet with her.  They’ll sing ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas.’”
