Jimmy Kimmel Gives Touching Tribute To His Late Uncle Frank (VIDEO)
Jimmy Kimmel opened his show last night with a very moving opening monologue to his late Uncle Frank – a frequent guest on the program.
Frank Potenza, a retired New York City police officer and a security guard at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, passed away on August 23rd at the age of 77.
The 43 year-old talk show host was visibly moved and choked back tears as he began.
“Listen, I’m gonna try to do this without crying, but I’m probably gonna fail,” he said to the audience. “But just turn away or something, because it’s embarrassing. It really is.”
Kimmel broke down at the end, just before showing a montage of his most memorable moments.
“Uncle Frank loved being a part of this show. And I wanna say thanks to my coworkers who talked to him and visited him and picked him up 12 hours early for work. He loved you. And thanks to all of you who came to the show and watched, for indulging me and letting me put my crazy uncle on television.”
It was a very sweet moment.
