Tom Cruise Goes ‘Super 8′ In LA

Tom Cruise walked the black carpet for the premiere of Super 8 at the Regency Village Theater in Los Angeles.

The 49 year-old actor was dressed casually in dark jeans and black shirt and hung with the flick’s director, J.J. Abrams who is also his Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol producer and screenwriter.

Cruise met up with Super 8 star Elle Fanning, the younger sister of Dakota. Cruise and Dakota teamed up for War of the Worlds with Steven Spielberg, also at the premiere.

Cruise, who’s been filming Rock of Ages in Miami, has signed on to star in Oblivion, the next project from director Joseph Kosinski of TRON: Legacy.

Fresh New ‘Super 8′ Poster Takes Us Back

Here’s the newest poster for the upcoming J.J. Abrams film Super 8.

This poster is like a flashback to the good old days of movie posters. It’s cool to see them take this approach in promoting this movie. Super 8 looks like it’s going to be a great movie, thankfully it’s out in just a couple of days so we can finally find out!

‘Star Trek 2′ Gaining Momentum for Announced 2012 Release

Star Trek 2 is currently scheduled for release on June 29th, 2012. Finally word of some progress has come down the pipeline.

Paramount set a release date for the film well over a year ago and that date is coming up at warp speed: June 29, 2012. All the other blockbusters scheduled for release around that time have begun production but, as far as we know, the script for the second Trek has yet to be completed or approved. So what’s the latest? Co-screenwriter Roberto Orci was over on TrekMovie.com and gave an update, basically saying that pre-production is ongoing based on a highly detailed, 70 page outline and that things will really begin to snowball once J.J. Abrams – who himself hasn’t officially committed to the project – finishes his obligations to Super 8, opening June 10.

J.J. Abrams isn’t officially committed to the movie, but I’m sure he will be in the next few days. It’s unfortunate that the film isn’t already going into it’s production stages. It’s unlikely it’ll make it’s announced release date next year, unless they start shooting in a couple months. Even then, it’ll more likely get a delay until at least the holiday season 2012. I really loved the first one, I hope they can manage to make the second on the same quality level.

Japanese ‘Super 8′ Poster Channels Old Spielberg

Here’s the new Japanese poster for the upcoming movie Super 8 from director J.J. Abrams.

This poster borrows from Spielberg posters of years past, Close Encounters, E.T., Poltergeist, War of the Worlds. Hey if a formula works, it works. I’m really hoping this movie is as good as it looks.

Full Length ‘Super 8′ Trailer Looks Great

Here’s the full trailer for the upcoming film Super 8 from director J.J. Abrams.

This trailer really makes the movie look great. It has the feel of an older Spielberg film, with the great elements of suspense and intrigue that J.J. Abrams is so good at bringing out. I’m really looking forward to this one, my only fear is the number of child actors. It’s hard to find convincing young actors, for some reason their bad acting is often overlooked in movies. I do have a lot of faith in J.J. Abrams, so I’m pretty sure this one will be good.

Full ‘Super 8′ Trailer Finally Reveals Plot

Here’s the full trailer for the upcoming film from Steven Spielberg and J.J. Abrams Super 8.

Ok so now we at least know the movie isn’t about 8 superheroes. This trailer gives just enough without revealing too much, I’m looking forward to this now. Seems like a great concept in very capable hands!

New ‘Super 8′ Teaser Trailer From Spielberg and J.J. Abrams

Here’s the Super 8 teaser shown during Superbowl XVL from producer Steven Spielberg and director J.J. Abrams!

This one has been kept tightly under wraps, which is a little strange considering it’s June 10th, 2011 release date. It definitely has a bit of a Spielberg feel to it. This one should be good.

J.J. Abrams Captures Another Star For ‘Alcatraz’

J.J. Abrams might be the only person who can make a notoriously haunted place even creepier.

Using the infamous prison as a backdrop for his latest production with FOX, Abrams is taking a police drama and giving it a paranormal twist for Alcatraz. Veteran actor Sam Neill has jumped on board to costar with Sarah Jones, Jonny Coyne and LOST alum Jorge Garcia who are pursuing prisoners and guards that disappeared during the time the penitentiary was active only reappear years later through time travel.

If FOX pairs this with Abrams other spooky thriller Fringe it could be one intriguing night on television.

J.J. Abrams Producing Robot Period Piece, No Joke

J.J. Abrams is set to produce a movie about a robot in the Victorian age called Boilerplate.

“Boilerplate” purports to tell the story of the world’s first robot, who, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, fought alongside Teddy Roosevelt and Lawrence of Arabia, journeyed to the South Pole and was involved in the silent movie business before disappearing on the battlefields of World War I.

Very unconventional, sounds like it could be a lot of fun. Certainly not news I would have expected to hear, in a world of hollywood remakes, it’s nice to see people like J.J. Abrams trying something different.
