Johnny Depp is in talks to star with Angelina Jolie in the upcoming film The Tourist.

Depp would play an American tourist drawn into a web of intrigue by a female Interpol agent (Jolie) who is attempting to locate a criminal who was once her lover.

The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star is replacing Sam Worthington (upcoming Avatar), who dropped out over creative differences, as has director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck. Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men) is in early talks to take over the director’s chair.

Ok, so Johnny Depp replacing Sam Worthington is definitely an upgrade! I really hope they get Alfonso Cuaron attached as the director, but it almost seems like that would be too good to be true. Regardless I want to see this one, talk about star power.

Johnny Depp has lost a lot of interest in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides the 4th movie in the hit series, here’s some reasoning as to why it is likely to be his last of the Pirate’s movies if he does it at all. And why doing Pirates 5 or 6 is out of the question.

The news that Disney exec Dick Cook was leaving the company was important to the people who work in the studio itself, but the part that got movie fans concerned was Johnny Depp’s suggestion that Cook’s absence might make him less enthusiastic to come back for a fourth movie at all.

Adding to the comments Depp made to the L.A. Times, our tipster is saying that even if he makes the fourth film, he definitely won’t be back for a fifth or sixth. Given that the Pirates franchise was the only live-action property making any money for the studio, they could reach deep in their pockets and keep Depp on for #4, but they’re also preparing to recast the role if he refuses a fifth and sixth film.

Also: Johnny Depp is well aware the second two movies sucked. That didn’t stop him from signing on for a fourth film, of course, but based on his comments last week it seems that his faith in Dick Cook was a lot of what was keeping him on board.

I hope he does make Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, but I don’t expect it to be any better than the last two. At least they are fun movies, but the fact of the matter is, Johnny doesn’t need Pirates movies to continue his career. He knows this.

Johnny Depp’s interest in starring in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has dropped substantially due to the resignation of Disney chairman Dick Cook.

Johnny Depp also shared his reaction about Dick Cook leaving the studio with the Los Angeles times. Depp said he is “shocked and very sad” because Cook was the reason he signed on to the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films and that Cook was his biggest supporter when other executives didn’t agree with how Depp was playing the role on set. He also commented on the fourth “Pirates” movie, which Cook revealed just last week would be titled Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and be released Summer 2011:

As for the fourth planned “Pirates” movie, Depp said while he has a potential deal in place that will depend on how good the script is, his passion for the project at the moment has been severely dampened by the news that Cook will no longer be around.

“There’s a fissure, a crack in my enthusiasm at the moment,” Depp said. “It was all born in that office.”

Well lets hope the script turns out well enough for Johnny to do the movie, otherwise Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides can be considered dead in the water.

Fans are jumping up and down all over the world, yes in fact, they are doing the happy dance all by themselves.  Johnny Depp made his big appearance at the D23 Disney Expo and announced that there will be a Pirates of the Caribbean 4.  Yes!

This one won’t hit theaters until the summer of 2011, but we can look forward to it for that much longer.  Sometimes anticipation is half the thrill!

The title for number 4 will be: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.  I can’t wait!  Jack Sparrow is BACK!

What it’s about: A traveling theater company gives its audience much more than they were expecting.

Thoughts: This is a movie to see the day it comes out with so many great actors packed into one film. This was Heath Ledger’s final film before he died, it will be interesting to see how his final performance turned out.

Fame does have its price, and poor Johnny Depp feels it where it probably hurts the most.  Check out what he’d do for the day if he weren’t famous:

I would walk through Disneyland with my kids. That’s what I’d do for the day. I would go on every ride and I would walk through Disneyland with my kids and let them experience all the things most kids do. They don’t get to do those things with daddy.

When daddy walks through Disneyland with them, things get weird.

I can only imagine how awful that would be for him and his kids.  Captain Jack Sparrow come to life and standing in line for the teacup ride!  I mean, he would be mobbed!  I wonder if it would work for him to go incognito?  He is an actor, after all - a wig and a good make up job might just do the trick!

Thankfully, Johnny’s partner, Vanessa Paradis, is not nearly so sought after by Disneyland-goers, so their kids Lily Rose and Jack got to go with mom last year.

Johnny Depp looked smashing today at the UK Premiere of Public Enemies at that Empire Leicester Square in London, England. I have to say that Johnny is looking fine these days. Smiling and happy, I wish he would tell me the secret so I can be just as happy as him all the time.

Johnny recently admitted that he would talk to Marion Cotillard on the Public Enemies set in French so that no one would know what they were saying.

“We would sometimes speak French to each other on the set, especially when we didn’t want anyone else to know what we were saying!”

That is so adorable!
