F Scott Fitzgerald and his classic The Great Gatsby is coming to the big screen courtesy of director Baz Lurhmann with the first trailer giving us a glimpse at the lush visuals the director went for in this modern adaptation.

With flappers and fireworks, manicured lawns, falling confetti and Model-Ts; cast Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan are reeling in the decadence of 1920s New York.

Lurhmann, who reunites with DiCaprio (the pair first worked together 17 years ago in Romeo + Juliet) uses 3D and a contemporary soundtrack (welcome Jay-Z and Kanye West‘s “No Church In The Wild”) to propel you through the dizzying light of Jay Gatsby (DiCaprio) Nick Carraway (Maguire) and Daisy Buchanan (Mulligan).

Kanye West has been relatively quiet, laying low and keeping his controversial opinions to himself for a few weeks but I guess we should’ve expected it not to last.

It’s a full-on Kanye moment when at the Big Chill Festival in England over the weekend when he tells the audience that he feels people look at him funny.

“I walk through the hotel and I walk down the street, and people look at me like I’m f**king insane … like I’m Hitler. One day the light will shine through and one day people will understand everything I ever did.”

Among his complaints – his banned video for “Monster” with cannibals and women who were hung by their necks – is really the highest form of art and he’s so very misunderstood.

[It was] “completely artistic… They couldn’t understand how a rapper can have a taste or sensibility high enough to do something like that without it being misogynistic.”

I can give him the benefit of the doubt for feeling ostracized but comparing how people judge him to how mankind looks at Hitler is and overstatement at best but it’s truly insulting and demeaning to Holocaust survivors ultimately.

West also fails with the poor-artistic-me, nobody-gets-my-vision nonsense. And it’s really tired and overplayed with the whole the-media-is-out-to-get-me crap.

Katy Perry dropped the 2011 MTV VMA’s nominee list last night and the singer found herself leading everyone with 9 nominations including Video of the Year.

She’s up against Beastie Boys, Bruno Mars, Tyler the Creator and Adele in the top honors category.

Adele, along with Kanye West, gave Perry a run for her money in the number of nods; both came in with 8 noms. Bruno Mars grabbed 4 and Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj grabbed 3 each.

Katy Perry launched the video fourth single, “E.T.” off her Teenage Dream album Thursday.

The single features Kanye West rapping with an intensity that is underscored by Perry’s softer vocals.

The costuming and make-up of this video is otherworldly and vibrant – this is Katy Perry after all! No sickly green alien goo here.

Perry’s extra-terrestrial single went number 1 and she is the first artist since Usher in 2004 to have the first four singles off their album go to the top spot.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian may be working on a video together.

West and Kardashian were spotted (separately) entering a studio in Culver City on Tuesdsay and Wednesday this week. Super music video director Hype Williams apparently joined the music and reality stars in what is assumed to be a video shoot.

Kim K tweeted some fairly cryptic info:

“OMG you guys have no idea what I’m doing today! you are gonna die!!!! What should my alter ego name be?”

and later in the day she posted:

“What an amazing day!!! I’m finished for today…but we have a few more to go! Can’t Twitpic just yet, but will soon.”

OK Kim, spill it! We all want to know what’s up!

Kanye West will do ANYTHING for more attention. And if that means making a 34 minute video with a nearly naked woman, he will do it.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West? Yep.

Selita Ebanks is the highlight of this never ending video.  It’s a lot of music though, so for some, that’s a good thing.  I’ll wait for your opinion, if you have that kind of time…..

Back in April, during the very public breakup between Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush, serious allegations came up that Kim cheated on Reggie with Kanye West, claiming it was only a one night stand.

Well, now things seem to be going back in that direction.  Kim is single again after her quick fling with Miles Austin.  Kim and Kanye West were spotted at Bijan’s Bistro in Chicago three days ago (19th.)

The local jazz singer that was eating there too Brian Schyler, a local jazz singer who was also dining at the late-night restaurant, tells In Touch exclusively, told In Touch,

“Kanye had his arm around her all evening!” And Kim sat extra-close to Kanye until the wee hours of the morning. “He was rubbing her knee all night — they definitely looked like a couple.”

I don’t know if I’d call them a couple.  Kim has been making it very clear that she’s trying to do the “single thing” and that she’s not good at it.  But I just can’t see her getting serious with Kanye West.  He’s a jerk with diamonds for teeth for Pete’s sake!

Just what this world doesn’t need.  More of Amber Rose’s skin. But alas, Kanye West is quite proud of his model girlfriend and posted this pretty much naked photo of Amber Rose on his new blog.

Posing like Grace Jones,  Amber Rose in the risqué shot, recreating Grace Jones’  1978 pose of her holding a microphone while nearly nakedthat ended up being a cover to her 1985 album, Island Life.

This picture was part of a photoshoot Amber Rose did with Complex Magazine that never made the issue. So, Kanye decided to give it it’s proper publication.
