Kate Winslet’s Sexy Red Carpet Look

Kate Winslet gave fans a hint of skin at the red carpet premiere of the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce in New York City.

The 35 year-old actress stole the spotlight as she chose a Stella McCartney Fall 2011 black stretch dress that had a side panel of sheer fabric with black dots. The skintight look was covered up, yet sexy and revealing in a very elegant way.

The dress is so new, it hit the catwalk a mere two weeks ago at McCartney’s Paris runway show.

The Oscar winning actress plays the title role in the HBO drama adapted from the 1941 novel by James M. Cain.

Set in the Great Depression Era, Winslet is a woman who separates from her husband, opens her own business – a restaurant – and falls for another man; all very taboo for women in that time.

Mildred Pierce debuts on HBO Sunday March 27th.

Kate Winslet Wins Libel Case

Kate Winselt at the premier of 'Away We Go'

Oscar winning actress Kate Winslet has won a $40,000 libel suit against British tabloid The Daily Mail for saying she lied about her exercise regime.

“I strongly believe that women should be encouraged to accept themselves as they are, so to suggest that I was lying was an unacceptable accusation of hypocrisy,” the 33-year-old mother of two said in a statement.

In the British High Court on Tuesday (November 3), The Daily Mail accepted that the allegations in their January 30 article, “Should Kate Winslet win an Oscar for the World’s most irritating actress?”, were false.

“I am delighted that the Mail have apologized for making false allegations about me,” Winslet said in the statement. “I was particularly upset to be accused of lying about my exercise regime, and felt that I had a responsibility to request an apology in order to demonstrate my commitment to the views that I have always expressed about body issues, including diet and exercise.”

The Daily Mail also agreed to publish an apology, pay damages to Winslet as well as her legal fees.

‘Titanic’ Getting 3D Re-Release

titanic_l

Apparently the juggernaut film Titanic is going to be re-released again in theaters in 3D.

Ten years after Titanic sailed its way into our hearts forever, the movie is getting re-released! The James Cameron hit will be released in theaters in 3D.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, studios are looking to take several box office hits out of the vault for a second release in 3D.

Universal distribution president Nikki Rocco says, “I know we’re all watching this to see if there’s something there. The uniqueness of 3D definitely brings something different to the table.”

This makes a lot of sense considering it’s James Cameron, he’s more than a little obsessed with turning the world of entertainment 3D. I won’t be seeing it again, once was enough.

Celebrities Get Bugged!

full_wenn2281024_katewinslet_beetle_470_0609

One of the perks of being a celebrity is that sometimes you get things named after you.  And one of the more obscure things you can have named after you is a creepy crawly critter like a bug or a spider.  Get a load of these celebs and their non-human namesakes.

Kate WinsletAgra katewinsletae (a beetle)

Jerry GarciaCryptocercus garciai (a cockroach)

Stephen ColbertAsptostichus stephencolberti (a California trap-door spider)

John LennonAvalanchurus lennoni (a prehistoric trilobite)

StingDendropsophus stingi (a Colombian tree frog)

Bill GatesEristalis gatesi (a Costa Rican flower fly)

Comedian John Cleese‘s animal namesake is a bit higher up the food chain – Avahi cleesei is a wooly lemur.

I’m trying to figure out exactly how one should react to having a bug named after them, especially a cockroach.  Is it a compliment or an insult?   Check out more animals named after celebrities here.
