Arguably one of the worst movies of all time, Cocktail celebrated its 20th anniversary this weekend (at the T.G.I. Friday’s in Penn Station, of course).   And happy birthday - it’s being made into a musical.

The adaptation is being written by the writer of the original book and film, Heywood Gould.  He couldn’t make it bad enough the first time around, so he’s trying again evidently.  Producer Marty Richards (Chicago) is writing the score.

They haven’t made any casting decisions yet, but it’s hard to see Tom Cruise slinging drinks again.  Unless he were to play the part of Doug, his character’s mentor.  But guess who they like for the musical?  Katie Holmes.   She got awful reviews for her singing and dancing part on Eli Stone, but hey.  Maybe she’ll improve….

Like that’s really any surprise, right?  Katie Holmes is already famous for dropping over $14M in a mere six months’ stay in New York.  Now her supposed “friends” and other sources are spilling more details about her shopping habit.

Katie  impressed observers in Australia where she is currently filming a movie:

“She loves to shop.  In Melbourne, she goes everywhere from the high-end shops on Chapel Street to the low-end stores like Target. That woman can give a credit card a workout!”

(Oh, Katie.  Target?  That’s where the rest of us plebeians shop.  I’d fall over and choke if I saw Katie Holmes in Target!)

A friend revealed:

“[Tom Cruise's ex-wife] Nicole Kidman was a spendthrift, but compared to Katie, she’s a coupon clipper. It’s a situation where he does his thing, she does hers - and hers is shopping.  She thinks nothing of heading off to Paris and buying designers’ latest creations. Price tags mean absolutely nothing to her.”

And why would they?  She’s married to a guy whose net worth is estimated at $250M, after all.  And she’s got to keep Suri in all those cute clothes.  Shop away, Katie!

From Broadway to prime time, Katie Holmes is making the most of her celeb status. Her newest gig will be a performance (already taped) on the season finale of So You Think You Can Dance airing August 6.

“It taped last week,” says the on-set source. “It’s going to be on the finale. It’s a Broadway does Hollywood number. It opens on a Broadway stage and then she walks into a Hollywood studio.”… “She was amazing. She was such a pro. Her legs are in great shape. She’s got a hat and a cane and she’s wearing a leotard and tights,” the source adds.

Well good for you, Mrs. Tom Cruise. Way to break out and finally make a name for yourself apart from your crazy husband.

The source also added that she had been rehearsing dance for over a year… That’s great, but the dancers who actually are on the show week in and week out have done it most of their lives.

This is one performance I can’t wait to see. Will it be a masterpiece or a train wreck?

Katie Holmes joins a calvalcade of stars appearing in PBS’s National Memorial Day Concert.   Katie will appear alongside her All My Sons Broadway costar Dianne Wiest.   They will

be paying tribute to José Pequeño, a Staff Sergeant severely injured during a tour of duty in Iraq, by sharing his story and that of his mother Nellie Bagley and his sister Elizabeth.

PBS says

“this year’s special tributes are to the veterans of World War II, Korea and Vietnam and the sacred war memorials built in their honor in the Nation’s Capital. Actor Charles Durning, a highly decorated World War II veteran and 14-year National Memorial Day Concert participant, will be recognized for his bravery and sacrifice as part of the “Greatest Generation.” The valor of the newest veterans will be honored as the program examines the lasting bonds that buddies form on the battlefields of Iraq.”

Other celebrities scheduled to appear include Laurence Fishburne, Katharine McPhee, Trace Adkins, General Colin Powell.  The concert will be hosted by Gary Sinise and Joe Mantegna.   The show airs on PBS at 8:oo pm Eastern.  Check your local schedule here.

Tom Cruise wants more babies like now, but wife Katie Holmes is too busy working to work on making babies.  The National Enquirer reports:

Katie promised her 46-year-old hubby that if he agreed to her recent All My Sons gig on Broadway, then she’d try to get pregnant this spring.

“But Katie was such a hit that she right away landed a film role in The Extra Man, and that led to another movie project [Don't Be Afraid of the Dark] ,” said the source.

“Katie feels she had to strike while the iron is hot career-wise. Since she’s only 30, she feels there’s plenty of time for more kids,” said the source, especially since she turned down reprising her role in bat-sequel The Dark Knight.

Tom isn’t complaining yet, but “he’s bumming because he really wants another child - now!”

Another little Suri would be really cute, I have to admit.  But if I were her, I’d make sure to stay busy for a long, long time.  I am sure if she doesn’t comply soon, though, he’ll probably subject her to more Scientology confessions.    Eeew.

Katie Holmes was spotted at the Independent Feature Project 30th Year Celebration at the Cooper Square Hotel in New York City last night. Katie looks amazing in this black suit ensemble. And she’s even smiling.

Recently Katie talked about how husband, Tom Cruise, and her like to relax.

“We like to watch three movies in a row. I love action movies.”

She admits though that she will watch movies that she doesn’t like for Tom.

“I’ll watch it anyway, and then we’ll talk about it afterward.”

I watch movies I don’t like either for my guy. I think if you love someone that you should. I wonder if Tom likes the romance movies and Katie doesn’t?

If you’re Tom Cruise, it’s never too early to start teaching your daughter about Xenu.  Suri Cruise is about to turn three, and she’s all set to start preschool at the Scientology-related New Village Academy.

The Los Angeles school was launched last year by Will and Jada Smith, who continue to claim they are not Scientologists.   In fact, they deny that the school is a Scientology school.  However, this is evidently what Suri can expect when she starts school:

“It is staffed by trained Scientologists and lists ‘study technology’ as a key curricular focus. The children have a lot of responsibilities from a very young age…The school is particularly strict about nutrition, demanding a low-carb, low-sodium and low-sugar organic diet.”

And at the New Village Academy, apparently only perfection is acceptable:

Upon completion of a subject chapter such as in math, the teacher sends the student to the testing room, where he/she is given an test in various forms. If the student scores anything less than 100%, the examinations teacher will sit down with the student and go over the part of the exam that was not fully understood and make sure the student understands all of the words and concepts in the chapter. The teacher will also make sure the student did not skip any concepts which would inhibit learning. This is done to help students so that they gain 100% mastery.

Wow, that sounds like hours and hours of tail wagging fun.  Poor little Suri just learned to walk recently, and now she’s got to get 100% on her math tests?  At least she’ll be the most stylin’ girl in the preschool class!

We thought we had seen the last of the rolled-up fashions from Katie Holmes but we were dead wrong. Katie was out on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles looking like a mess. Her shorts were rolled up and her shirt was unbuttoned. I never expected this from her. Okay, maybe I did.

Katie is set to be back on the stage to read a veteran’s personal story at the annual Memorial Day weekend concert in Washington, D.C. on May 24. These readings are based on veterans’ letters that they wrote home. She will be joined by Dianne Wiest and Gary Sinise.

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are always in the news.  Mostly gossip news, but hey! that’s the best kind , right?  “Real” news is far too depressing.  The most talked about issue these days to Katie and Tom are the baby #2 debates.  I completely understand why Katie would be stalling on having another baby for Tom “transform”.  But, it looks like she might be changing her mind!

Katie Holmes was glowing as she had a late afternoon lunch with her daughter, Suri, at Cristoni Pizzeria in Beverly Hills. While Suri nibbled on pasta bolognese and a slice of cheese pizza, Katie chatted on her cell phone with a friend - and broke some very big news.

“She said, ‘I’ll be pregnant this year for sure,’” Sokol Aliaj, who was sitting next to Katie, tells In Touch. Then she said, “Tom can’t wait!”

Although a rep denies the story, as Tom and Katie prepare for Suri’s third birthday on April 18, they had double reason to celebrate. According to a close source, Katie couldn’t decide if she wanted to focus on her career or her family, but finally came to the conclusion that she was ready to add to their family.

“It’s like a huge weight has been lifted from Katie’s shoulders,” the source says. “She thought she would focus on acting for a few years, but she really loves being a mom.”

If this is all true, I am sure that Tom is on his own version of ‘cloud 9′.  I just hope a second pregnancy doesn’t take the rest of what’s left in Katie away from her.  I always find myself feeling sorry for Katie, kind of like I do when I am at the zoo and I see beautiful birds in cages….,I just want to open the door and let them fly away……

Katie Holmes had some one on one time with her cutie pie, Suri on Sunday morning.  The girls headed out for an early brunch at Le Pain Quotidien bakery in Beverly Hills.  How fun!  I’m loving Suri’s shoes, makes me wish I was little again.

Can you believe that Suri will be turning 3 next month?!  I can’t believe it!  Time is going by so fast.  I wonder what kind of party she will have?  Will it be over the top or quietly controlled by Daddy (Tom Cruise)?

I’m still depressed about Katie Holmes and her hair being short again. I loved her long hair. But Katie didn’t disappoint me yesterday when she left a dance studio in Los Angeles. The leggings on her I understand but the pant thing she put on over top confuses me.

Maybe Lindsay Lohan should take note for her next leggings line. I can see this catching on. Confusing people makes them spend money on crazy things. Or even if Katie and Lindsay got together and designed something together. I may be on to something.

It just seems like three days ago when Katie Holmes arrived in Japan with her husband her hair was short. And now, amazingly its long. She was on the red carpet the Valkyrie premiere, with her husband, Tom Cruise, looking great with her long hair. She doesn’t quite look like Joey Potter yet, but I’ll take it.

Katie definitely stole the scene away from Tom here. Who knew that purple and red went with each other? I didn’t. But really who wants to look at Tom anyways?

Yep.  You read that right.  We alreay know that Tom Cruise is completely insane.  But, this is too much.  Katie Holmes must be getting a little nuts too.  How else would she agree to confess to Tom every little detail of her daily life?

Katie Holmes may be coming to the end of her Purification Rundown diet, but it seems she isn’t stopping there with her commitment to Scientology. I can reveal that the 30-year-old actress resolves problems with her husband Tom Cruise by making weekly written confessions, as laid out in the Scientology code.

‘Katie has to confess to something as minor as forgetting to tell him she has met with a friend,’ says a source. ‘If she commits a transgression against the moral code of their marriage, she has to tell Tom in writing, giving full details of the time and place and what happened.’

Wow.  I don’t know what to say.  Except that as soon as Katie is done with her current movie, The Extra Man, she and Tom are going to try for another baby.  Another human for Tom to control.  Another life for him to destroy.

Actress Katie Holmes just shot the last scenes for her new movie “The Extra Man” in New York on Friday (Mar 6). Katie doesn’t seem really happy to wrap up this movie because when she gets back home she knows she has to return to the kitchen or maybe not…

Katie confessed she is not exactly a good chef but her lovely husband loves to cook and keeps on experimenting. Who would have thought Tom Cruise could even find anything in the kitchen?

Katie says: “I don’t really cook that much - eventually I will. I do make cupcakes. And [Tom] makes his pasta carbonara for me.”

“He knows exactly how to do it: a pinch of this, a pinch of that. He has a recipe, but he also kind of [improvises] by himself. You have to do the egg at a certain time. He did it once when we were camping.”

Katie is a lucky girl! Not many husbands I know would actually cook for their wives, especially if they are big movie stars!

Katie Holmes has been sporting an extra skinny look lately. We were all hoping that since her stint on Broadway was over she would gain the weight again and look almost normal again. Katie has an explanation for her weight loss…acting.

“My metabolism was in full gear the whole time. I lose weight fast when I’m working so hard. It doesn’t matter how much I eat, I just get thin. It’s not the worst problem in the word to have, though, now is it?”
