It’s Official: Katy Perry & Russell Brand’s Divorce Is Finalized

The six month California waiting period is over and now Russell Brand and Katy Perry are officially divorced.

The British actor and comedian filed for divorce in December of 2011 just 14 months after their October 2010 wedding – a lavish ceremony in India – began.

Brand, 37, walked away from the marriage without requesting any spousal support or settlement money even though the couple had no prenup and he could’ve been entitled to half of her earnings, according to California law.

He did tell Ellen DeGeneres that he would always have a place in his heart for Perry.

“I still love her as a human being,” Brand said. “But sometimes when you’re in a relationship, I suppose it doesn’t work out, does it? But that doesn’t mean I regret it or anything. I was very happy to be married with her. She’s such a beautiful human being and I just have only love and positivity for her.

“You can’t absolutely make everything the way you want it to be in life,” he continued. “Sometimes things are just different and then you have to just move with that and try and remain in contact with what is beautiful about yourself and with each other with any situation.”

Perry, who signed the divorce document with a smiley face, addressed her split in her film Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D and kept the footage of her troubles in the movie so she could show fans that everyone has problems but it’s how you choose to deal with them that is important.

“It’s not about the problem; it’s about how you solve it,” Perry said. “And if I can be an example showing people that they don’t have to lay down and die because they’ve been thrown a curveball, then that’s great. If I can help someone else out because they feel like the only loner in the world or the only person that is going through the situation and they see me and they’re inspired to keep moving forward, then I’ve done my job.”

Katy Perry Goes For Gold In Australia With Cotton Candy & Bubbles

Although the pink carpet loaded with cotton candy and a bubbles machine was over-the-top, Katy Perry kept her look glamorous and lovely for the Australian premiere of Katy Perry: Part of Me, 3D on Saturday, June 30th.

Perry chose a nude bustier  dress with gold embroidered crucifix overlay from the Versace Fall 2012 collection.

She paired the super slim dress with delicate silver heels from Christian Louboutin. Perry’s tresses were swept to one side and the soft curls she wore at her Los Angeles premiere were a continued look for the singer.

The 27 year-old expressed her love for Australia and her Aussie KatyCat fans by heading down under for one of the premieres.

“I wanted to go to a couple of special places to do premieres and Australia definitely was going to be one of them just because everyone’s been so lovely to me,” Perry said.

“I feel like I’m indebted to Australia.”

Selena Gomez Celebrates At Katy Perry’s Premiere In Pink Mini

The pink carpet premiere of Katy Perry: Part of Me brought out her pal Selena Gomez in a seriously cute, flirty and girly frock that was perfect for the event.

Gomez chose a mini dress from Emilio Pucci’s Spring 2012 line with hot pink and fuchsia embellishments, beads and a feathery, frilly fringe-y hemline that highlighted Selena’s super sexy (and perfect) legs.

The 19 year-old hit a home run with her strappy silver “Dart” sandals by Jimmy Choo.

I can’t say I love the dress but I do think it looks fantastic on Selena and hits the perfect balance of youthfulness and fun for the premiere.

Gomez’ boyfriend Justin Bieber didn’t walk the pink carpet with her but did sneak in to the premiere to be with his girl.

The couple partied after with Perry, Robert Pattinson and Shannon WoodwardAndrew Garfield‘s former girlfriend.

Katy Perry Takes The Pink Carpet In Strapless Red Velvet Dress For ‘Katy Perry: Part Of Me 3D’ Premiere

It was a family affair for Katy Perry as she brought her parents and grandmother to the pink carpet premiere of her concert film and documentary Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Tuesday, June 26th.

The Grammy-winning songstress was decked out in a beautiful strapless red velvet cocktail length dress from Dolce & Gabbana. Her dark purple tresses were done in soft 50s glam waves and her fire engine red lips complimented her look perfectly.

The 27 year-old singer has had quite a year to document for fans, including a world tour, many promotional stops and her marriage and subsequent divorce from actor Russell Brand.

Perry said she’s ready for a break from the publicity and her hair extensions after all that turmoil.

“I think I’m going to go into a cave after this. It might be appropriate,” Perry said. “I would like to be in a beautiful unplugged place where there’s not a lot going on so I can get back into and hopefully write some good songs.”

“Just take take these damn extensions out of my hair and fill my head again! Although I will look like a complete freak.”
