Janelle Monae & Leona Lewis At Essence Black Women In Music Event

Leona Lewis and Janelle Monae were among the women honored at the 2nd Annual Essence Black Women In Music event held in Hollywood at the Playhouse.

Monae was honored at the event and told Essence:

“This is just the beginning of my career so to be recognized at such an early stage just gives me more encouragement and hopefully I can open up doors for more young girls.”

Lewis added a bright bit of color on the black carpet with her yellow bow bodice and purple skirt.

The Vampire Diaries star and singer Katerina Graham was also on hand wearing a shiny black mini and awesome necklace. Love her style.

Monae is up for two Grammys at Sunday’s (February 13th) show.

Leona Lewis InStyle UK June Issue

Leona Lewis is sexy for InStyle magazine’s June cover. The singer gives up the details about her diva-ness, her love of fashion and Stella McCartney and Simon Cowell is really a gent who lets her have the last word:

On being a diva:  “I don’t think I’m demanding! I think it’s okay to ask how you want your food cooked. People just dramatise everything.”

On her relationship with Simon Cowell:  “I’m very fiery and very passionate. We don’t argue, we debate.”

On Justin Timberlake and Taylor Lautner:  “[Justin's] very sexy… I was obsessed [with Taylor] for a while… [but] the press know I’m in a serious relationship.”

On stripping down:  “No weird sex books [like Madonna's] for me. I would never even do a bikini shoot. It’s too embarrassing.”

On the man who attacked her at a book signing:  “I was angry at first, but when I found out he wasn’t well…”

On Stella McCartney and fashion inspiration:  “I love Stella. I want to do a vegetarian range of clothing. I haven’t had time to properly focus on it, but I’m still designing.”

Leona looks great and I’d love to see her designs. I think she has great style.

Jennifer Hudson & Leona Lewis Singing Duet As Theme For Sex and the City 2

Leona Lewis At The Love Ball In Londonjennifer-hudson

Leona Lewis and Jennifer Hudson have recorded a duet that is likely to become the Sex and the City 2 theme song, the NY Daily News reports.

“They each have incredible voices and will appeal to both the UK and the US.  It’s perfect for the next SATC film.”

Jennifer knows all about Sex, as she was Carrie Bradshaw’s assistant in the first SATC film.

Latest Sex and the City 2 Trailer

I think Hudson and Lewis make the perfect “power team” to do this big song.

Leona Lewis Goes Bronze In London

Leona Lewis At The Love Ball In London

Leona Lewis turned out Tuesday for the Love Ball London.  The event benefited the Naked Heart Foundation, which builds playgrounds in urban areas of Russia.

Leona is so pretty, but she made a spectacularly poor choice of dress for this party.  It looks like the poorly basted-together draft version of a superhero costume circa 1986.   I know it’s Fashion Week, but come on, ladies!

Is Leona Lewis James Cameron’s Next Big Star?

Leona LewisJames Cameron

Leona Lewis just might take the step from music onto the big screen with James Cameron‘s help.

Leona Lewis is known as a great singer, but she may be crossing over into movies! Director James Cameron has reportedly shown a lot of interest in Lewis lately. Leona recorded the theme song for Cameron’s latest blockbuster Avatar, and now he has his eye on her for his next film.

“James is well known for casting strong females in his films and he sees that quality in Leona,” revealed a Hollywood insider.

“She has made quite an impression in Hollywood and James is one of a number of people interested in developing her performance skills for film.”

The only problem is going to be getting Leona to actually agree to acting in a movie! Leona has previously talked about how she’d love to work in the movie industry — but would prefer it be behind the scenes.

I say stick to the music, there are thousands of talented and undiscovered actors out there that need a chance. Leona Lewis is already doing just fine for herself.

Leona Lewis Goes Ultra Glam With Vivienne Westwood

Leona Lewis Vivienne Westwood video

Leona Lewis is getting a seriously killer wardrobe for her concert tour from the Grande Dame of British Fashion: Vivienne Westwood. Approximately 10 to 12 looks will be produced for the international tour and she will be wearing Viv’s designs exclusively in her latest video.

‘The Vivienne Westwood couture team worked with Leona Lewis’s stylist, Alison Edmond for this project,’ revealed a spokesperson at Vivienne Westwood. ‘The brief was simple. To create a classic, glamorous and sexy look for Leona but with a Westwood twist. Leona had been a wonderful artist to work with and she fitted the Westwood silhouette so well.’

Lewis has been wearing a lot of VW fashions during high profile events (like the  MTV European Music Awards) and she looks fabulous. Can’t wait to see the video and what she ends up wearing.
