Cool New ‘Inception’ Poster Series

Here’s the fresh new poster series from the upcoming Christopher Nolan film Inception.

Even if I don’t  see any more advertising on this film, I’ll still be there opening night. But a few promotional pieces here and there certainly don’t bother me. This movie is going to be good.

Leonardo DiCaprio Covers Esquire March 2010

Leonardo DiCaprio Covers Esquire March 2010

Leonardo DiCaprio is on the cover of the current issue of Esquire.  They’ve got him trying to channel a 1950s Rat Pack vibe, which is generally a safe bet if you want to portray cool.  But it just makes Leo look old.   And he sounds like he’s feeling old too, viewing his life in retrospective.  Check these interview highlights.

On his childhood:

I was the most insane child you can imagine, pretty intolerable to be around. High-octane energy all the time, never wanting to focus on schoolwork.

On getting older:

What you risk just to have thrills when you’re in your twenties is absurd. It’s all part of that process of doing things that are daring to be accepted by your peers — and it’s absolutely insane. You can enter a never-ending vapid hole trying to catch the next exciting moment without ever stopping to appreciate it. It can be a never-ending process of chasing something that isn’t there. I know it’s a cliché, but I’m happy to be alive. I went skydiving and my chutes didn’t open. Two of them.

On his early acting career:

Probably the only thing I knew with complete clarity was that I wanted to be an actor. But there was a lot of rejection early on, and so it never felt like, Hey, I’ve got something here. There was always an element of me that needed to prove something to myself. It’s something I don’t want to get rid of, because it’s what drives me. I’m never settled and I’m never satisfied.

Leo’s latest movie Inception, directed by Christopher Nolan, is due out this summer.

‘Inception’ Trailer Description and Reactions

Inception Still

Here’s a description of the first trailer for the upcoming Christopher Nolan film Inception starring Leonardo DiCaprio. The new full trailer is not out to the public yet, but this gives us a glimpse.

This evening, I attended a packed advanced screening of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes. About 95% of the time at these screenings, they don’t show trailers before the film. Tonight, I was surprised to find a brand new trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Inception attached. The trailer isn’t actually available for public viewing yet, but you can hit the jump for a brief description and some reactions.

[Note that I cannot vouch for the accuracy of any of the following; I wasn't expecting to see the trailer so I didn't have a chance to grab my notepad.]

Overall, I have to confess: This trailer was almost completely incomprehensible, a series of images and words that left me in kind of a daze, albeit excited as well. The trailer begins quietly and we get a voiceover by Leonardo DiCaprio. According to one IMDB poster, the voiceover dialogue was as follows:

What’s the most resilient form of parasite? An idea. An idea has the power to build a city… to change the world, and re-write all the rules..

In perhaps one of the most spectacular visuals from any trailer I’ve seen in recent memory, we see a city block folding upwards at a right angle into an L shape, while citizens in the foreground look on (a glimpse of Ellen Page is seen at around this time). The trailer continues to throw random images at you without any context or explanation. Leo is at a cafe when there appears to be an explosion in the background that freezes all of a sudden, Matrix-style. According to the same IMDB poster, “At one point a train is driving down a street, plowing through cars. People are fighting mid-air, someone on a motorcycle drives beside a car holding a huge gun. Ken Watanabe looks like a really scary villain from the one smile he gives.” Here’s how random and jam-packed this trailer was: I don’t actually remember any of that stuff happening!

All this stuff is followed by Leo delivering the capper line, referring to the “idea” from earlier:

…and that’s why I need to steal it.

We see Leo in a kitchen holding a gun. Lots of people are apparently in distress, perhaps fighting one another. Lots of extremely slow-motion imagery of water, and water colliding with people.

Sounds cool, even if nothing more is explained about the plot in the trailer I’m still excited to see this movie. Christopher Nolan is a true artist and I’d be happy to watch anything he makes.

Surreal First Poster for Christopher Nolan’s ‘Inception’ With Leonardo DiCaprio

Inception Poster

Here’s the first poster for the upcoming film Inception from Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan.

This movie is bound to be good, Christopher Nolan hasn’t had a miss yet. It seems like it has elements of noir and crime/thriller with the spice of sci-fi all over. I’m really looking forward to this one, Nolan‘s work is always a treat.

DiCaprio’s Rep Says He is Not Involved in ‘The Third Man’

leo_dicaprio

Although it was a big story a couple days ago DiCaprio‘s rep says he is not involved in the the upcoming The Third Man remake.

“He isn’t involved with that project,” DiCaprio’s rep tells Hollyscoop exclusively in regards to reports that he’s set to star in The Third Man alongside good pal Tobey Maguire.

The 1949 Carol Reed remake centers on novelist Holly Martins as he arrives in Vienna to discover that the friend that invited him, Harry Lime, has died in a traffic accident. Orson Welles starred in the original.

Would have been a great choice in the role, but hey there are a lot of other great actors out there. Hopefully they get somebody of a higher caliber than Tobey Maguire.

Leonardo DiCaprio Starring in ‘The Third Man’ Remake?

leonardo_dicapriothird_man

Rumor has it that Leonardo DiCaprio could be starring in a remake of The Third Man.

File this one under rumor, but it’s a pretty solid rumor or I wouldn’t be running it. This is still early enough in the game that it could all fall apart, but it’s also late enough in the game that it could be officially announced in a week or two.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire might be starring in a remake of the classic Carol Reed film The Third Man, which is being written by EasternPromises screenwriter Steven Knight. The package comes from Canal Plus and it’s going out for bidding, and the bidding is likely to be fierce. That’s a hell of a line-up, after all. And it’s before they have a director in place.

If the rumors turn out to be true, this will be a big movie, especially if they get a big name director attached. I’ll keep you posted as news unfolds.
