Even Arab Magazines Want Kim Kardashian On Their Covers

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian expanded the reach of the Kardashian empire into the Middle East when she traveled to Dubai in 2011.  It seems that she made an impact there, because she’s landed an regional magazine cover.  The mom-to-be appears on the cover of Hia, a luxury lifestyle magazine for Arab women.

Are Kim Kardashian & Kanye West Planning a Pseudo-Wedding?

The cover, which Kim shared on her website this week, shows her wearing a modest white gown with three-quarter sleeves, gloves and a veil.   (Has she ever been photographed this covered up?  Not to worry – the behind the scenes video features Kim in one outfit with a neckline open to the waist, revealing quite a lot of cleavage and torso.)  She commented on her experience:

My cover shoot for Hia Magazine was unlike any I had done before!  I wore a series of stunning veils, which added a sense of allure and mystery to the shoot!

Kim wore very glamorous gowns by Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture and was photographed by MoDas Touch.

Naomi Campbell Talks Her Temper & Diva Reputation For Elle Magazine – All While Looking Fabulous, Of Course!

Naomi Campbell

Stunning beauty and an infamous hot temper are associated with Naomi Campbell and the supermodel acknowledges she will be tied to the latter forever.

The 41 year-old catwalk queen is promoting her upcoming model reality competition show The Face and for her Elle interview in the February issue, Campbell talks about her anger management (phone tossing/British Airways ban/substance abuse) problems.

“I’m never gonna get away from it,” Campbell addresses. “It’s part of my history. I was remorseful and regretful. I’ve served. I did that time. And I never want to be in that position again.”

The model also spoke of her testimony in the Netherlands at The Hague for the war crimes trial of former Liberian leader Charles Taylor and whether he gave her a “blood diamond.”

“People acted as if I was on trial—and I wasn’t,” Campbell said. “I was a witness subpoenaed to speak.”

Here’s what else she shared with the magazine:

On why she is mentoring new models for The Face:
“When I first got Yves Saint Laurent couture, I didn’t know how to take off a cape. I would ask Katoucha and Dalma – the real divas of the runway – ‘Can you show me?’ I’ve never been afraid to ask for help… I care for my girls [on the show]. Every single one of them. I’m not here to put anyone down.”

On Tyra Banks and whether she checks out the competition:
“I don’t watch the other reality model shows. I’ll never have anything to say. If you ask me about Tyra Banks, I’m proud of her as a woman of color. She’s given girls opportunity, and God bless her.”

Campbell’s show debuts later this month on the Oxygen Network.

Jordin Sparks & Jason DeRulo Cuddle Up For Glamour

Jordin Sparks and Jason DeRulo

Beyond-cute couple Jordin Sparks and Jason DeRulo get cuddly and super sweet for Glamour magazine’s February issue.

The singing sensations gaze lovingly at each other in the photo spread, inspired by the Valentine’s theme.

Jason on Jordin’s hair:
“She transforms herself with it. I give her names for the people she becomes. When her hair is in a bun, I call her Simone. When it’s curly, I call her Chiquita.”

Jordin on plans for the future:
“Marriage doesn’t scare us, but we’re not in a rush either.”

Sparks, 22, and DeRulo, 23, should be looking forward to a happier year. DeRulo broke his neck last year and Sparks became close with singer Whitney Houston while filming Sparkle. Houston passed away in February of 2012 and Sparks has sung at a few tributes to the late singer.

The cute couple have weathered the personal tragedies and have been together for about a year.

Jessica Alba’s InStyle Cover For February 2013

Jessica Alba

The gorgeous Jessica Alba looks chic with straightened hair, form fitting black top and lovely printed skirt on the cover of InStyle‘s February issue.

The 31 year-old Machete actress talked marriage, fashion and motherhood with the mag:

On finding her soul mate, husband Cash Warren:
“I just knew when I met him that I was going to know him forever. It was weird; he instantly felt like family. It was so easy. I’d never felt like that with anyone. I was usually pretty self-conscious, minding my p’s and q’s, very aware of every time my fork hit the plate when I was having dinner on a date. With him, there was none of that. We got each other. We’re kindred spirits.”

On her changing fashion style:
“My style is more adventurous since I became a mom. In the past, I was into my uniform of leggings and a sweater. Now I’m willing to try bold prints, bright colors, and different cuts. Never say never, but I probably won’t ever wear booty shorts. I feel pretty confident about that.”

On how motherhood has changed her:
“Before I had kids, I was very responsible and serious. I used to be all about controlling my environment; everything had to be just so. Now my idea of perfection is different. You can label bins and have a place for stuff, but when the kids go into the playroom, you’re not going to say, ‘We can’t paint, because how are we going to clean it up?’”

Alba’s issue hits stands January 11th. Her next movie is the animated Escape from Planet Earth and opens February 14th.

Julianne Hough Opens Up About Her Childhood Abuse

Julianne Hough

The February issue of Cosmpolitan has the lovely Julianne Hough on the cover with the dancer/actress revealing some shocking secrets from her past.

Hough, who grew up in London and studied dance there, says she was a victim of abuse as a child.

“I was abused — mentally, physically, everything,” the 24 year-old Footloose actress tells Cosmo. “I was 10 years old looking like I was 28, being a very sensual dancer. I was a tormented little kid who had to put on this sexy facade because that was my job and my life. But my heart was the same, and I was this innocent little girl. I wanted so much love.”

The former Dancing With The Stars pro said it was ongoing for a quite a long time in her life:

“It got worse when I started hitting puberty, when I started becoming a woman and stopped being a little girl,” Hough recalls.

Julianne also revealed the mental and verbal wrongs she was subjected to.

“I was told if I ever went back to the United States, three things were going to happen. One: I was going to amount to nothing. Two: I was going to work at Whataburger. And three: I was going to end up a slut,” she says. “So, it was like, ‘I can’t go back. I have to be this person.’”

With Hough opening up about her past, her role in the upcoming Safe Haven calls on her dark past. In the Nicholas Sparks movie, she plays a woman trying to escape an abusive husband and finds refuge with a new man.

Safe Haven, costarring Josh Duhamel opens February 14th. Look for her Cosmo issue on newsstands Jan 8th.

A beaming Drew Barrymore gives the world a peek at her 9 week old cutie, daughter Olive.

Barrymore, who just wed Olive’s father Will Kopelman in June, is all smiles on the cover of People as the first time mom talks about her nervousness just before giving birth.

“I couldn’t eat or sleep for two weeks, I was just so nervous!” she told the magazine.

Barrymore, who has had well documented troubles with her parents, is in awe of her husband’s family and how close-knit they are:

“I really wanted a wonderful traditional home for my kid,” Drew said. “Will comes from a strong family, he provides a strong family … It just makes me so emotional because it’s like a miracle.”

The Grey Gardens actress has also spilled the details on how the couple chose Olive’s name.

“I never would have guessed that would have been the name,” she explained on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last week. “But I was reading a book with my husband. I was three months pregnant and they said your baby is the size of an olive, and that was it. We never looked back!”

Ben Affleck Is Entertainment Weekly’s Entertainer Of The Year

Ben Affleck

Actor, director, producer, husband and dad Ben Affleck has been selected by Entertainment Weekly as this year’s Entertainer Of The Year.

He was chosen on the strength of his double duty on his film Argo; Affleck directed and starred – and also co-produced, by the way, along with George Clooney.  The movie, which tells the 1979 story of the CIA operative who rescued six U.S. diplomats during the Iran hostage crisis, has earned a lot of Oscar buzz, but the star says he felt humble about his project from the beginning.   He told EW:

“I had very low expectations for Argo‘s performance.  I just hoped that over time people would find the movie.”

He also acknowledged that he was ready to take on roles with a bit more weight to them.

“Being at a place in my life and my career where I know what I’m trying to do, it’s different than being 26. When you’re younger and have the early success that I had — it sounds like the worst Hallmark cliche — but I didn’t have anyone to share it with. I don’t mean I wanted someone to sit by the fire with. But when you have a family and children, you kind of see yourself reflected in them. I want to make the kinds of movies that my kids are proud of. I have higher standards, in a way, for them.”

The family he refers to, of course, is his wife Jennifer Garner and their kids Violet (6), Seraphina (3) and Samuel (11 mo.).  Congratulations, Ben, and keep the entertainment coming.

Rihanna. Naked. GQ Cover. (It’s That Simple)

Rihanna

GQ chose Rihanna for the cover of their Men Of The Year issue (December 2012), and it isn’t hard to see why.  The mag’s Obsession Of The Year doesn’t mind taking off her clothes:  she’s buck naked under that leather motorcycle jacket.  Also, she looks perfectly natural and positively awesome like that (if you don’t count her hair, that is… I have never, ever liked her hair).   There’s pics from her sexy cover shoot below, but first, let’s sample what she told her interviewer, Jay Bulger.  She said some stuff like…

On what she’s looking for in a relationship: “I like to feel like a woman.  I have to be in control in every other aspect of my life, so I feel like in a relationship, like I wanted to be able to take a step back and have somebody else take the lead.”

Just Released: Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’ Video – WATCH!

On her musical philosophy:  “I want to make music that’s hopeful, uplifting. Nothing corny or supersentimental.  I just want it to have the feeling that brings you out of whatever you’re going through. I want it to spark that fire. I want it to be real, authentic, and raw.”

On her self-perception of her work:  “Sometimes a person looks at me and sees dollars. They see numbers and they see a product.  I look at me and see art. If I didn’t like what I was doing, then I would say I was committing slavery. ”

Marion Cotillard: Red Hot High Fashion For ‘W’ – With Bonus Creepy Nutcracker

Marion Cotillard

Have you ever wanted to see a life sized nutcracker get handsy with Marion Cotillard?  Are you in luck this month.  Under the headline “Red Hot Superstar,” Cotillard covers W‘s December issue.

The French actress is, of course, stunning in what may be the most conceptual photoshoot I’ve seen in awhile.  We see Cotillard in monochromatic (red or black) haute couture ensembles, in a garden and against an all-red backdrop.  She’s accompanied by a rather Gallic-looking nutcracker (the curled moustache gives him away) who squires her down a garden path, grabs her menacingly from behind (she doesn’t seem to mind), and strains through a wall to get to her.

Marion Cotillard

I jest… actually, I think this is a beautiful shoot, amazingly styled.  The nutcracker I could do without, mostly because I can’t understand his significance.

Now on to some highlights from the interview, the focus of which is her upcoming movie Rust and Bone.  Cotillard plays an orca trainer who loses her legs in a freak accident; during her recovery she meets, befriends and beds an aspiring boxer, played by Matthias Schoenaerts. Here’s what she had to say.

On “making it” in the world of French cinema:  “I had costarred in three commercial hits in France.  To have your place in French cinema, you have to prove that you are a serious actress in a noncommercial film. When Tim Burton picked me [for Big Fish], French critics were impressed. In France, they see Tim Burton as a kind of film doctor, and the movie was not successful—so voilà!”

On filming sex scenes:  “I hate [them].  The body is so important in this movie, but I hate being naked onscreen. It’s very weird to imagine how a person would have sex. It cannot be your way. Otherwise, it would be super uncomfortable and overly intimate. Everyone has a way to have sex, so a character does too. I mean, kissing is very powerful. You feel something, you know? It’s really intense to kiss as another person.”

“On playing the part of Stephanie in Rust and Bone:  I could never give life to a character I don’t love. I’ve read scripts in which I hated the character and didn’t do the movie. With an evil character, you have to understand the origin of the evil. It’s exciting when there is something unknown—if I want to meet that person, that’s a good sign.”

More dramatic photos from Marion Cotillard’s W cover shoot after.
