Emma Watson To ‘Elle France’: “I’m Kind Of Boring”
I try not to use the phrase “gracing the cover” of a magazine anymore; I think it’s way overused. That’s never a problem when it comes to Emma Watson, though. While she’s entirely graceful in every way, she doesn’t just “grace” a magazine cover: she ROCKS it.
To wit: Watson’s cover for the current issue of Elle France Weekly (January 27, 2012). Photographer Rankin caught her looking fierce, flirty and just plain fabulous.
Emma talks fashion and fame with the magazine. Some highlights from her interview:
On her now-famous pixie haircut: “For ten years, because of my Harry Potter contract, I wasn’t allowed to cut my hair. This summer, when I could finally do as I liked, I really went for it!”
On her personal style: My problem is that I’m kind of boring. I don’t carry designer handbags or wear huge sunglasses.
On choosing to embrace fame rather than reject it: “When I don’t have to be “Emma Watson” in public, I prefer not to put myself out there. Someone asked me why I took the job with Lancôme if I wanted to stay out of the spotlight. In fact, I’ve let go of the idea that perhaps I could someday become anonymous again. Before, I used to insist on riding buses and trains: my way of rebelling against my suffocating fame. But last year, I was in Bangladesh, passing through a very poor village, with huts made of dried mud. This ragged little boy asked me, ‘Hey, aren’t you the girl from Harry Potter?’ I mean, what can you do?”
