Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck split long ago but Lopez’ mom Guadalupe still thinks highly of him and sent The Town star an email asking for some advice.

JLo’s mom sent the email on July 12th, according to US Weekly, 3 days before the news of split Lopez and Marc Anthony’s became public and Ben replied.

“Guadalupe reached out to Ben over email. She wanted advice for Jennifer,” reveals a source.

“She always liked and trusted him. [Ben] replied back on email, wished her well and offered what he could,”

Despite the outwardly blissful life, Jennifer was unhappy and has low self-esteem which Marc took advantage of with his controlling ways and jealous rages, according to pals of Lopez.

Jennifer’s mom still thinks fondly of Affleck and had a soft spot for the man who dated her daughter for 18 months. Reaching out to him shows her level of trust and how much she wants to help her daughter.

When Jennifer and Ben split, Lopez went on to marry Anthony just a few months later. Affleck moved on to another Jennifer – actress Jennifer Garner - and has been married to her since 2005.

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony‘s announcement of their divorce has led to rampant speculation about what exactly was going on in that marriage. (My personal theory: he got tired of being married to a Dementor.) If J-Lo wasn’t carrying on with sexy Latino model William Levy, then what led this Hollywood power couple to split?

According to the Huffington Post‘s sources, it’s nothing too scandalous:  they’re just too busy.  She’s on American Idol and promoting her new album.  He’s now a regular on TNT’s HawthoRNe.  They both perform frequently and all over the world.  The insider says it’s just too much.

“I don’t know any relationship that could survive the juggling of schedules of both Jennifer and Marc.  Angelina [Jolie] and Brad [Pitt]years ago agreed that while one of them was working the other took time off. Unfortunately, knowing both Jen [and] Marc, I can tell you that neither of them is capable of putting their career on hold when a great or big paying opportunity comes along.

In other words, it’s not just really working, but the desire for fame and fortune, that is driving them apart.  And that is not at all surprising, especially from the couple who reportedly see themselves as “the king and queen of Latino culture.”   (Seriously.)

News of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony‘s split was announced late last week and it didn’t take long for rumors of a hook-up to hit the net.

Model and actor William Levy, who starred with JLo in the steamy beach romp video for her song “I’m Into You” is denying that his relationship with Jennifer was anything other than strictly business.

Levy, 30, has been dubbed the “Cuban Brad Pitt” and within weeks of filming on the Mexican beaches in April, Levy and his wife of 8 years, Elizabeth Gutierrez separated.

But Levy maintains that no hanky panky, other than what was scripted, went down between himself and Lopez.

“The only relationship there was or is, is a professional relationship. That’s all there’s ever been,” he told TMZ.

The Latin soap opera hunk had nothing but praise for the 41 year-old American Idol judge and his time working with her on set.

“It was wonderful. I felt very comfortable. She is a very sincere and fun person,” he said.

“The truth is I had a really great time,’ he added. “It was wonderful to see that someone so huge could be so down to earth, in addition to being really funny.”

Whatever the case, the dude’s got bigger problems now. Levy is accused of sexual battery of a minor and is facing a lawsuit from an encounter that took place in July of 2010.

Levy claims that yes, there was sex, she was not forced and that she told him she was 19 years old.

People reports today that Hollywood power couple Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are divorcing.

In their joint statement to the magazine, they said:

“We have decided to end our marriage.  This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters.  It is a painful time for all involved, and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time.”

Wow.  WOW.  I have to say I’m honestly surprised. J-Lo seems so concerned with image; a divorce doesn’t seem like it would fit her schema.  Jennifer and Marc were married in 2004; is this a classic seven year itch?  Or perhaps Marc’s legal trouble with the IRS wasn’t to J-Lo’s exacting taste?

This is not the first time these two have been rumored to split:  they reportedly were on the way to divorce court back in 2009.

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony stepped out to the 2011 Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City on Monday, May 2nd.

The 2011 Met Gala, as it’s more commonly known, featured an exhibit, the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty retrospective, which honored the late designer’s body of work.

The American Idol judge was fiery hot in a brilliant fuschia pink halter dress from Gucci. A ruffled shrug and peek-a-boo keyhole in the bodice flashed some of Lopez’ famously hot body.

She kept her hair pulled back in a bun to counter all the detailing of the top of the dress.

Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony walked the red carpet of the 2011 Grammy Awards held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday night, February 13th.

La Lopez brought the serious diva drama dress in the very short and super shiny Emilio Pucci mirrored number. I love it when Jennifer dresses to the max like this. She looks fantastic.

Anthony was decked out in all black Gucci with shades and I did like this look for him as well.

Jennifer Lopez’s husband Marc Anthony is in trouble with tax authorities.

Anthony had a lien placed on a property he owns on Long Island in Nassua County back in March for $1.8 million for unpaid taxes. There was also a $1.6 million dollar lien placed three months earlier against the singer on the same property. His running total was $3.4 million.

Anthony has been in a sticky situation with taxes before. In June 2007, the singer was slapped by the IRS for millions in unpaid money to the government. The problems stemmed from companies he did business with who did not file tax returns properly and Anthony was able to pay $2.5 million to settle up.

So now what happened?

No one is saying why or how Anthony found himself in trouble again for tax issues but E!Online has this:

A rep for Anthony says that his financial and managerial teams have “reached an agreement in principle resolving all of [his] federal tax liabilities…No further comments will be issued about this matter.”

The first time around really doesn’t appear to be Anthony’s doing, but what’s going on that it happened again?

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony recently moved into a new home in Hidden Hills, CA, and they’re taking life in this private, gated community near Los Angeles rather a little too seriously.  Jennifer’s decided to try her hand at local politics – she’s running for the local homeowners’ association board.  A source says:

“Jennifer already wants to make some improvements to the neighborhood, so she’s getting involved in the association.  She’s attending meetings and wants to run for office during the next election.”

It’s a frickin gated community!  What “improvements” could it possibly need?  People aren’t color coordinating their cars with the exterior trim on their houses?  Oh, the humanity!

They’ve also applied for membership at a local country club, but they didn’t impress everyone there.  Another source (gotta love these sources) said that J-Lo

“showed up looking like Jackie O, and Marc was wearing some ridiculous preppy style outfit – it was like they looked up what people wear to country clubs and then tried to imitate it.  [Jennifer] did all the talking – Marc barely said anything.  It seemed clear that he didn’t want to mess up, like it was really important to her.”

Now this I can totally see. I can completely picture Jennifer picking Marc’s outfit, dressing him up like she’s his mom, and then threatening him that if he says anything at all, she’s going to remove another vital internal organ and never give it back.  After all, she was probably still mad about the American Idol thing and needed to take it out on SOMEONE.  Or maybe he was quiet because he just doesn’t give a crap and was just going along to placate his wife.   I can totally imagine him just internally gritting his teeth and muttering evil thoughts to himself while all the while smiling and playing nice on the outside.  At least that’s how I’d be if I had the misfortune to be married to J-Lo.  Shudder.

Although Marc has acted before, he said that working with Jada “made him realize how fulfilling acting is for him.”  I’m sure.  Getting to work with a woman who, unlike his wife, doesn’t want to eat his organs would seem fulfilling to any man.
