Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon tweeted holiday wishes to friends and fans on Christmas night with a cute family photo.  Captioned “MERRY CHRISTMAS from the Carey-Cannons!” the candid shot shows the musical couple bundled up in the snow with their 20-month old twins, Monroe and Moroccan.  And Monroe is wearing little baby glasses!

Mariah got a little extra holiday treat this year when her modern classic holiday hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You” went Top 40 (which it did not upon its original release in 1994).   Not surprising at all – Nielsen reported that it was this year’s most streamed Christmas song.   Not bad for an 18 year old song!

Breaking out the Fisher Price xylophone and a bunch of other toy instruments, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots give Mariah Carey‘s classic holiday jingle “All I Want For Christmas Is You” a welcome update.

Carey isn’t left out and sings the tune with all the fun and exuberance that it deserves and with four backup-singing kids popping up in the front of the camera the overplayed song sounds fresh and feels sweetly nostalgic.

Fallon and the guys broke out just about every preschool instrument that has ever clacked, pinged or boinged, using them superbly to make the song holly and jolly. Christmas sweaters, santa hats and Mariah’s fancy red gown give the video the spirit of the season.

The feud that everyone talked about (but no one admitted to) is really going down at American Idol.

Nicki Minaj hurls expletives and curses out Mariah Carey at the Charlotte, N.C. audition stop, which was caught on tape, and while it’s tough to hear everything that’s being said, it’s very clear Minaj isn’t happy to at the same table with Carey.

Minaj and Carey, along with Keith Urban, were added to the judging roster of the FOX show after Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler decided not to return for a third season. Producers looking to spice up the bland soup that A.I. had become may have put a bit too much spice into the mix.

The bad blood between the divas went from simmering to volcanic in record time with Minaj threatening Carey: “I’m gonna knock you out!” according to the audio TMZ has obtained.

Although the audio is largely inaudible at parts, the website has offered up a transcript, of sorts, to some of the exchange. Randy Jackson is peacemaker-ish:

Nicki  Get this s**t in self control.  Get in control.  Get in control.
Randy  Settle down, settle down.
Nicki  Don’t lose your head.  Don’t lose your head (inaudible).  Don’t tell me I’m a gangster.
Nicki  (inaudible) every 5 minutes.  So every time you patronize me, I’m-ma take it back, and if you’ve got a f**king problem, handle it.
Nicki  I told them I’m not f**kin’ putting up with her f**king highness over there.  Figure it the f**k out.  Figure it out.

The Diva checks in!

The departure of Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez from American Idol was announced a little over a week ago everyone has wondered who would take a turn at judges table on the next season.

Today, word comes that one seat is filled.

Mariah Carey has confirmed she is going to take her place on the weekly competition show for it’s 12th season.

“I am so excited to be joining American Idol,” she said. “This kind of all just happened really quickly.”

Carey has potential to be a great judge. She has vocal skills that Tyler, Lopez and Paula Abdul all lack (although all had other strengths.) Carey also doesn’t come across as someone who will shy away from telling a contestant they aren’t up to snuff.

Plus she has a little bit of unpredictability that will keep viewers tuned in.

Mariah’s deal is reportedly worth $17 million a year.

Who’s going to be next at the table and whether Randy Jackson will continue in his chair remain up in the air.

Showing off her new svelte figure in a bikini and cropped top on the cover of Shape magazine, Mariah Carey is proud of her weight loss and how hard she worked to achieve it.

The 42 year-old diva delivered twins Moroccan and Monroe last year but found herself with extra weight she wanted to shed.

“I put on 70 lbs. but if you look at me in pictures you’d think it was more like 9,000 lbs. I have a lot of empathy with people who have to lose a lot of weight.”

Carey, who is now a spokesperson for Jenny Craig, told the magazine she had to take a different approach to getting healthy.

“I used to be able to slim down just by exercising more, but that’s changed. Since having the babies, I realise that 90 percent of losing weight is my diet.”

Carey also opened up about how challenging pregnancy was for her.

“Pregnancy was probably the best and the hardest thing I’ll ever go through. I know for a lot of women, it can be wonderful and relatively easy. But for me, it was like ‘Okay, honey, do you have to do everything the hard way?’”

Mariah Carey revealed her amazing weight loss at the Four Seasons Hotel in New York City and announced she is the new Brand Ambassador (spokesperson) for Jenny – the new name for Jenny Craig weight loss system.

Carey, 42, who gave birth to twins Moroccan and Monroe in April this year, says that she felt trapped by her own body and wants to help others having a difficult time losing weight.

“Physically, putting on all that weight for me was so difficult and so dehabilitating,” Carey says.”I mean, for people who have struggled with this their whole lives, I feel for them so much more now just as a human being, that I want to do something that helps.”

The singer was also troubled through her pregnancy with gestational diabetes, edema and preeclampsia.

Carey said she initially lost some water weight after giving birth but in July, she focused on the Jenny plan of 1,500 calories a day and working out three times a week to get her body back.

“I worked like a fiend,” she said.

Mariah will also lend a song she wrote – “Make It Happen” – to the commercials she will feature in touting the company. Carey and Jenny are also working with the American Heart Association‘s new initiative My Heart My Life.

Celebrities have a penchant for choosing names that are unique so it’s no surprise that Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon’s twins have names not found on the top 100 baby names.

The happy duo have chose Moroccan Scott Cannon for their son and Monroe Cannon for their daughter.

Both names have significance for their parents.

Moroccan was chosen because Mariah’s penthouse has a room with Moroccan inspired decor where Nick proposed to her. Scott is Nick’s middle name and his grandmother’s maiden name as well.

Monroe is to honor Marilyn Monroe and she has no middle name because Mariah is without one as well.

“It has been a long, emotional journey for this family, and I couldn’t be happier for all of them,” Mariah’s rep, Cyndi Berger told CNN.

Except for their son’s middle name – this is all about Mariah.

They have arrived!

Mariah Carey gave birth to twins, one boy and on girl on Saturday morning, April 30th, in Los Angeles.

Carey, 41, and husband Nick Cannon, 30, went to the hospital on Thursday evening, according to E!News, believing the pains were “another false alarm.”

It turned out to be the real deal and Carey delivered on Saturday, by C-section. The baby girl weighed in at 5 pounds 3 ounces while the baby boy was 5 pounds 6 ounces.

Carey, Cannon and the babies are doing well, a rep posted on Mariah’s twitter.

Congratulations to Mariah & Nick on the birth of #dembabies!! Born, April 30th at 12:07pm ET. Mommy, Daddy & #dembabies are all doing fine!

The couple wed on April 30, 2007. The babies were born on their fourth anniversary.

They have not announced names for the children, yet.

Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon have been designing a gender neutral nursery for the arrival of their twins but they don’t have to guess anymore.

The couple announced that they are expecting one boy and one girl. The 41 year-old Carey and 30 year-old Cannon are keeping most of the details of the pregnancy secret however the duo did decide to let this information out.

Cannon and Carey are decorating nurseries in both their Los Angeles and New York City homes for the babies.
