The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) admitted 31 new designers to their group and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen were among the chosen. Council President Diane von Furstenberg recognized the duo along with Alexander Wang, Jason Wu and more.

The twins have been recognised for their contribution to American fashion through their labels The Row (named after Saville Row in London) their polished, tailored collection of luxe wardrobe staples and Elizabeth and James their directional, mid-range brand, named after their younger brother and sister.

The Olsens fashion lines are quite good, certainly above what many thought they would be.

Mary Kate Olsen is the cover girl for the March 2009 issue of the Canadian magazine Fashion. I think she looks really pretty in this photo shoot. I can’t believe that she used to be in Full House when I was younger and I’ve seen her grow up. She’s come along way from then.

In some ways the Olsen twins had way easier than stars like Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus. Although, I’m sure that they have experienced some of the things that happen in this instant world. I think that she’s on the right track though. It can’t be easy to be so popular and rich.

The cutest of the Olsen twins, Mary-Kate Olsen opens up to Interview Magazine and they go as far as to call her “a hauntingly gorgeous young woman with serious acting talent and a remarkably individual.” This girl could haunt your nightmares for sure! First it’s scary how much she looks like Courtney Love and second she is so pale and skinny I swear she could just be a ghost! Anyone agree with me?? This photo shoot certainly does capture her hauntingly beauty… I just think it’s too creepy!!

Mary-Kate confesses her love for Kate Winslet (who doesn’t love Kate??): “Some people are natural beauties, some have great style, but sometimes it comes from talent. Take Kate Winslet: I was listening to her speech at the Golden Globes. That woman has so much intensity. She’s amazing to watch and to listen to. With some people, it can even be their voice that makes them attractive.”

Mary-Kate talks about being her own persona and distancing herself from the Olsen Twins image: “We’ve always been very different. And we’ve always had the same goals. But yes, that happened. At a certain point, we probably just started to vocalize it. When we decided to go to college, we figured we’d be able to take a break and just figure out what we wanted to do and what we loved . . . just by being able to step away from the work world.”

Mary-Kate on her acting career (which is nonexistent now!): “When I was 16 or 17 I said, “I’m done. I’m exhausted.” But then three days go by and you’re ready to work again.”

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen signed copies of their new book, Influence, today at Barnes & Noble Union Square in New York. PETA held an action outside the store to protest the twins’ wardrobe of furs.

The activist group has dubbed Mary-Kate and Ashley the Trollsen Twins (Hairy-Kate and Trashley) and they’ve got several activities on their website featuring the twins. You can download Hairy-Kate and Trashley masks, dress the girls up in bleeding animal items, and watch a video of the Full House Of Horrors. Even if you don’t care about fur and fashion, if you’ve got a sick mind, it’s a lot of Halloween fun. Check it out here!

In it, she stars as Natalie, a troubled young woman Samantha meets in community service. Sam sees her preamnesia bad-girl self in Natalie, so naturally she wants to help Nat get back on the straight and narrow. Jokes ensue.

Am I the only one that thinks this is odd? I thought Mary Kate was retired by now. She never has to work another day in her life yet she chooses to appear on a TV show. Well, it looks like she might actually rock the part so I might have to tune in.

Mary Kate Olsen went to a Radiohead concert last night in L.A. and lost her pants. It seems like she had fun at the concert. I’m sure Radiohead is a fun time! No one told me things like that happened at concerts! I need to get one STAT then.

Mary Kate is looking like she is getting old. It’s just so weird to think that she is so much older since I’ve been watching her grow up. And girl, you really need a tan!

I really need to ask what is up with the fashion of these gladiator shoes? The smaller version ones are okay I guess, but these huge ones that Mary-Kate Olsen have on are just killing me! I get such a weird feeling thinking I have these buckles up my leg like that. Claustrophobia here I come. And I love how Mary-Kate has chosen a ratty shorts with a dressed up shirt…classy….really classy.

Spencer Pratt is having no part of Mary Kate Olsen ’s insults! Last night she told David Letterman that Spencer was “wormy” and spilled about his younger days:

“He used to play on the soccer team for my high school, and he does not have a good temper,” said the Wackness actress. “He walked out of a few games. He would walk off the field.”

In retaliation, he whined to Us Magazine:

“I don’t really get why she’d use my name to get press for her little indie film that no one’s going to see….She should probably focus more on not getting dressed in the dark than on me.”

But wait, there’s more. Spence took it even further:

“I know I’ve made it in Hollywood when a famous troll is talking about me on Letterman…I forgive her, though,” he added. “She’s had to go through life as the less cute twin, which must be tough.”

Which is actually not true, in my opinion - if she just eats, I think she’s much cuter than her sister. And I’d be plenty irritated if someone who knew me back when went on TV and started talking about what I was like…. but even if Spencer is right about MK’s fashion sense, I’ve got to side with her here. He makes me want to throw up!

I wonder sometimes how old Mary-Kate Olsen actually is. She walks around like she is as old asthe hills…Here she is at LAX yesterday all hunched over and ogre looking. And wearing that striped shirt and tight pants doesn’t make her look any better. Will she be washed up before she turns 25? I guess we will have to wait and see!

Mary-Kate Olsen is the July 2008 cover girl for Elle magazine. Inside the pages Mary-Kate talks about business, fashion and life in general. Here are some highlights:

On profit motives complicating or even causing sibling rivalry: “[My twin sister Ashley and I] don’t agree all the time. The way we go about business or designing or making a decision is that we come at it from two completely different angles that at the end of the day, even when we don’t think we’re agreeing with each other, we are agreeing. We’re just getting there in different ways. Unless you’re a twin, you honestly can’t know how close twins can be. There’s such a strength… It stems from love, and it stems from passion. We’re driven people. I do know I can’t work in an office. Ashley, on the other hand, loves going to an office.”

On describing her casual attitude toward fashion: “I don’t know—you’re either on the worst-dressed list or you’ve started a fashion trend. I think there’s a real disconnect between the media’s perception of fashion and the fashion world’s idea of fashion. I don’t know why I wear some of the things I wear. I like wearing crazy things sometimes. I like being playful. Sometimes I feel like I’m playing dress-up and becoming a character. It’s sort of like an art. It can change your mood or the way that people are attracted to you.”

On feeling sexy: “The affirmations you get as a child star are so different from the ones I presume one seeks as a woman. I feel like I can be sexy when I want to be. I think all women are sexy. Some may feel it more than others. I personally think the women who are the most sexy are the women who are truly themselves, whatever that may be.”

Is the world going to stop because Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have had their coffee “spiked” with whole milk?

A former barista at a Starbucks in West Village, New York, had been spiking the rake-thin twins’ coffees with full fat milk.

“The barista thought the Olsens were too thin, so whenever they ordered their usual drink, he would replace the skim-milk with full-fat!” tittered an anonymous “source”.

The twins always ordered ‘grande nonfat lattes” from the coffee chain, the magazine wrote.

When approached for comment a spokesperson for the Olsen twins said: “This is ridiculous.”

Is it really ridiculous? When they gain an extra 20 pounds they’ll thank that barista!
