Brandon Routh Cast in ‘Scott Pilgrim’

Brandon Routh from Superman Returns has joined the cast of the upcoming film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Here are some details about the film.

“Pilgrim” centers on young slacker Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera), who meets the woman of his dreams (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) but finds he can win her heart only by battling and defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends.

Brandon Routh (“Superman Returns”) plays the third evil boyfriend, Todd Ingram, a rocker with vegan psychic powers.

Mae Whitman (“Tinker Bell,” “Avatar: The Last Airbender”) is Roxy Richter, the fourth ex, a female who is half-ninja.

Satya Bhabha plays an ex-boyfriend who can summon demon hipster girls at will.

Brie Larson (“United States of Tara”) plays Pilgrim’s ex-girlfriend, Envy Adams, for whom he still has feelings.

Mark Webber (“The Hottest State,” “Broken Flowers”) is Stephen Stills – the lead singer of Pilgrim’s rock band.

Alison Pill (“Milk,” “The Book of Daniel”) is the band’s drummer while Johnny Simmons (“Evan Almighty,” “The Spirit”) is Young Neil, the band’s biggest fan.

Finally Anna Kendrick (“Twilight,” “Rocket Science”) is Pilgrim’s sister.

Sounds pretty offbeat and possibly quite entertaining.

First Look at ‘Year One’ Starring Jack Black

Here is the first look at the new Jack Black, Michael Cera comedy from Judd Apatow called Year One.

The Judd Apatow-produced Year One pairs Jack Black and Michael Cera as Zed and Oh, hunter-gatherers who are banished from their village and wander through scenes from the Old Testament, encountering the likes of Cain and Abel and Abraham.

Sounds like it may be funny, and sure to offend.

Michael Cera Saying No to ‘Arrested Development’ Movie?

The Arrested Development movie may be slowed by Michael Cera not jumping onboard!

Getting nine actors to reprise their roles for a motion picture is tough work.

Remarkably, according to a recent interview with Hurwitz, he’s got eight on board.  The interviewer asked about a rumor saying that Will Arnett and Michael Cera were the remaining holdouts.  To wit Hurwtiz,

“I don’t want to talk about who is holding out right now because we might still work that out and I don’t want to pressure anyone through the press. Although I will say that Will Arnett is gung-ho, so there’s a big clue!”

I certainly hope he comes to his senses, anyone who has seen the show knows he’s an integral part, it’s not like they can just replace him. C’mon Michael, do it for the fans!

‘Gilligan’s Island’ Movie Coming with Beyoncé Knowles

Yes, thats right apparently we are in for a modernized Gilligan’s Island Movie, starring Micheal Cera and Beyoncé Knowles.

“Gilligan’s Island” creator Sherwood Schwartz and his son Lloyd are moving ahead with a big screen version of the classic sitcom reports TV Guide.

The pair are after “Superbad” and “Juno” star Michael Cera to don the famous red shirt and white hat as Gilligan, and Beyonce Knowles to play sexymovie star Ginger.

I love that old show, but a movie doesn’t seem necessary. Michael Cera seems like a really good choice, he’s great at being awkward… but is he gangly enough?

Bateman Talks ‘Arrested Development’ Movie

Check out this short interview with Jason Bateman on the new Arrested Development movie.

ComingSoon.net got the update on the “Development” developments from Bateman:

ComingSoon, net: Will it be a relief when you actually start filming the “Arrested Development” movie so that people will stop asking you about it?
Jason Bateman: I don’t mind talking about it! I’m as big a fan of it as they are. So I feel sort of fortunate that I’m able to give them information on it. I would want them to give me information on it if they had it. I can say that we’re looking better than ever. There are just a few more conversations to be had with some cast members to see if they want to be a part of it. Once we get the head count we’ll be able to go forward with it and hopefully start shooting in the summer.

CS: Is the story already on paper?
Bateman: I don’t think so. I know that Mitch has a couple of ideas, but he’s really waiting to nail it down until he knows exactly who’s going to be involved.

CS: Do you see having Michael Cera and your relationship in film as something crucial? I thought that was one of the more important parts of the show.
Bateman: Sure. It’s not obviously my decision to make. It’ll be Mitch’s, but there are so many different ways to go with it just based on it being an ensemble. I can’t wait to see what he cooks up.

If the movie is half as good as the show I’ll be there.
