Catherine Zeta-Jones Sought Treatment For Bipolar Disorder

Catherine Zeta-Jones spent time in a treatment facility for Bipolar II disorder this year.

“After dealing with the stress of the past year, Catherine made the decision to check in to a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her Bipolar II disorder,” the rep told People magazine in a statement.

Unlike Bipolar disorder which the symptoms are more commonly known (manic mood swings with elevated, irrational and irritable highs for long stretches of time,) Bipolar II has longer depressive episodes with shorter and less intense upswings in behavior.

The actress has had one heck of a tension-filled year and needed to take care of herself and her mental health by seeking treatment.

Zeta-Jones husband, actor Michael Douglas, was diagnosed with throat cancer last year shortly after his son (her step son) Cameron Douglas was convicted and sent to prison for 5 years on drug related charges. Douglas was also sued by his ex-wife Diandra Douglas for half his earnings in the 2010 release Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

“She’s feeling great and looking forward to starting work this week on her two upcoming films,” Zeta-Jones’ rep said.

The 41 year-old, who spent about 5 days at the undisclosed center, is starting work on the film Playing the Field with Gerard Butler and is set to star with Bruce Willis and Justin Timberlake in Lay the Favorite later this year.

Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta Jones At NY Fashion Week (PHOTOS)

A very dapper and healthy looking Michael Douglas joined wife Catherine Zeta Jones in New York City at Fashion Week to take in a show.

The happy couple attended Michael Kors’ show along with loads of other celebrities including Bette Midler, Emma Roberts and Angie Harmon.

Douglas, 66, looked much more robust than he has recently while he was undergoing treatment for throat cancer. In January, the Wall Street actor said doctors gave him the all-clear after battling the disease.

Zeta-Jones told reporters outside the venue today “Doesn’t he look great!”

Yes, indeed!

Michael Douglas: “The Tumor Is Gone”

Michael Douglas has announced that he is cancer free!   In an interview with Today‘s Matt Lauer that will air on Tuesday, Douglas shares:

“I feel good, relieved…The tumor is gone.”

He will be undergoing monthly check-ups with his doctor to ensure that he remains healthy and that signs of cancer are not returning.   Douglas had announced in August 2010 that he had a throat tumor that would be treated with radiation and chemotherapy.

I’m loving all the good celebrity health news this week.  Cancer is horrible, awful, and I’m just torn up every time I hear about another diagnosis, but hearing that both Adam Yauch and Michael Douglas have beaten it makes me feel a little optimistic.

Michael Douglas Has Harry Potter FUN!

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones spent some time with their two kiddos at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort.  I absolutely love these snaps of them.  Michael’s smile is so sweet.  From all of the turmoil the family has been going through since he was diagnosed with throat cancer, it’s heart melting to see them all having such a good time together, making memories that no one can ever take away.

They enjoyed the Flight of the Hippogriff roller coaster (above) as well as some samples of Butterbeer, and they even got fitted for wands at Ollivanders and toured Hogwarts Castle.  Fun!  I’ve always wanted to visit that park, it looks like a blast!

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps Poster

Here’s the fresh new teaser trailer and poster for the very long awaited sequel Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps with Shia Lebeouf and Michael Douglas.

Looks like it could be pretty good, but what is it about? Not a lot to be seen in this trailer other than knowing that Gordon Gekko is back.

Matt Damon and Michael Douglas to Play Lovers in Liberace Biopic

A new biopic about famed musician Liberace is set to star Michael Douglas and Matt Damon as lovers in the film.

The two have signed on for a biopic about the life of American entertainer Liberace.

As you may know, Liberace was believed to be a homosexual, and had a live-in boyfriend who was much younger than he was. He sued Liberace for $113 million in palimony, despite the entertainer’s vehement denial that he was gay. According to USA Today, Damon will play Liberace’s lover Scott Thorson, while Douglas will play the main role.

Douglas told Canada’s Sun Media, “Matt’s going to be my young lover. Why not? God bless Matt. Hey, it’s easy for me – he’s in his prime. I said to him, ‘Matt, I love you, man. Boy, that ‘Bourne’ (series) must really be going strong.’ But good for him. He’s right taking chances. All those young guys – (George) Clooney – they’re taking risks… It’s smart trying to mix it up a bit and maintain those franchises and still get to do a picture that turns you on.”

Funny concept, talk about an unlikely couple. Michael Douglas seems like a perfect choice to play Liberace. It will be interesting to see how this film is received.

Frank Langella to Star in ‘Wall Street 2′

franklangellawallstreet

Academy Award nominated actor Frank Langella has joined the cast of Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps.

Frank Langella will join the cast of “Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps,” the Oliver Stone-directed sequel for 20th Century Fox.

Shia LaBeouf stars with Michael Douglas, who’ll reprise his Gordon Gekko role. Josh Brolin is reportedly circling a part in the Allan Loeb-scripted drama as well.

Langella is in talks to play Lewis Zabel, an old-time broker who mentors LaBeouf’s character, a young Wall Street broker. The mentor’s fate plays a major part in the film’s plot.

Langella is a great actor and will bring a solid performance to this film, guaranteed. It’s going to be interesting to see how this film gets marketed as it nears release.
