Miranda Lambert Says She & Blake Shelton Were Drawn To Each Other Despite His Being Married

When country superstar Miranda Lambert met Blake Shelton for the first time, they were about to do a duet together on stage and she says there was an immediate spark.

The problem? Shelton was already married.

Lambert recalled the initial meeting and the strong pull she felt toward him in an interview with Dateline.

“I didn’t know what to do with it,” said Lambert. “It was like my first duet with some other country star. And I didn’t know if it was just initial butterflies because of that or, I don’t know what it was. It was just this draw to each other.”

The 27 year-old singer said she was well-aware of what she was getting into and knew how messy it could be.

“I knew he was married,” Lambert told Hoda Kotb. “I had seen their wedding picture in Country Weekly. I knew better, like this is off-limits… Because my parents are private investigators, for God’s sakes. I’ve seen this my whole life, affairs. And I’m like, ‘Of all people didn’t know better, I know better than this.’”

Miranda also joked Blake was in complete denial over his mullet.

“The mullet…He had sort of kind of mullet at that point,” replies Lambert. “He said it wasn’t a mullet…I was like, ‘If it looks like a mullet and acts like a mullet, it’s a mullet.’ “

Lambert and Shelton were married in May of this year – without his mullet.

Miranda Lambert At 2011 CMA Music Festival

Miranda Lambert belts out her stellar performance into her pink microphone for the crowd at the 2011 CMA Music Festival Nightly Concerts at LP Field in Nashville, Tennessee.

The 27 year-old singer/songwriter also took the stage with her trio the Pistol Annies and performed for 500 members of her Fan Club at Nashville Palace, a bar and grill where everyone enjoyed burgers, barbeque and beer pong!

Lambert, who married The Voice mentor and country superstar Blake Shelton in May, said she was skeptical at first about Shelton spending so much time in Los Angeles but now she gets absorbed by the drama every week, just like everyone else.

Christina Aguliera fans are very intense, I’ve noticed. I thought my fans were intense.”

“The Voice is really, really cool. When Blake came to me when he first got the offer for it and I didn’t know what it was and I was like, “You’re going to be gone in L.A. for three months? I don’t know.” But he felt good about it. And now, to me — and not just because I’m his wife — but he’s an amazing judge on there.”

“He’s really showing a different side of him and he’s so involved with his contestants and now I’m attached to them and am crying over their performances. It’s really changed our life a little bit as far as there is a different level of eyes watching us, and the bigger that you get, the more people try and stir up crap. And it’s like, “We’ve been married for a month, will you all just hold on?”

“I’m really happy for him. I think it’s something that’s huge for him and not only for him but for country music because he is representing our genre and he’s doing a great job.”

Miranda also told the Tennessean that she isn’t taking a break anytime soon, she’s busy building “an empire” and “you don’t take time off work” when you are so driven.

Lambert is working non-stop and her career just keeps getting bigger. I really like her and her attitude.

Miranda Lambert Says Her Twitter Remarks Weren’t ‘Mean’ To Christina Aguilera

The competition on The Voice isn’t just between the singers.

Miranda Lambert got a twitter backlashing from Christina Aguilera fans when she responded to a tweet from the “Beautiful” singer.

Aguilera took a poke at her fellow mentors on the show, Adam Levine and Lambert’s hubby, Blake Shelton. After the two had their turn at the mic this week, the 30 year-old star tweeted:

“Was Blake just about to make out w/Adam as he sang that song into his eyes?”

“That was some strange bro-mance s**t! What’s been happening behind the cameras??hmmmmm.”

Lambert responded with a dig of her own, setting off fans.

“@TheRealXtina wow. Calling all males: Please relieve christina from her obvious Frustration before things get….ugly. Team Blake rocks: )” she said on twitter.

“The House That Built Me” singer responded and agreed with a fan who said “It’s cool that Blake treats his team like HIS TEAM and not his background singers. So talented!”

Within minutes of those tweets, Aguilera’s fans were all over Miranda but she was in a fiesty mood.

“jealous bc ur husband said that Christina is THE BEST SINGER HE EVER HEARD? dont be girl,” u should hear what else he said..” (Lambert added the end part.)

In the end the twitter onslaught seems to have been a bit much for the 27 year-old country crooner who tried to back away from her comments.

“Whoa peeps calm it. No one said anything mean about your girl xtina. Just cheering for my hubby:) every competion needs a good cheerleader: )”

Christina hasn’t responded to the jabs, but what do you think? Purposefully mean or an unintentional swipe?
