WATCH: ‘The Great Gatsby’ Trailer: Leo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire & Jay-Z Set The Stage For The Roaring 20s

F Scott Fitzgerald and his classic The Great Gatsby is coming to the big screen courtesy of director Baz Lurhmann with the first trailer giving us a glimpse at the lush visuals the director went for in this modern adaptation.

With flappers and fireworks, manicured lawns, falling confetti and Model-Ts; cast Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan are reeling in the decadence of 1920s New York.

Lurhmann, who reunites with DiCaprio (the pair first worked together 17 years ago in Romeo + Juliet) uses 3D and a contemporary soundtrack (welcome Jay-Z and Kanye West‘s “No Church In The Wild”) to propel you through the dizzying light of Jay Gatsby (DiCaprio) Nick Carraway (Maguire) and Daisy Buchanan (Mulligan).

Whitney Houston In Her Last Film Role – ‘Sparkle’ Trailer Released

 Whitney Houston and Jordin Sparks

The trailer for the film Sparkle was released on Monday, giving fans a glimpse of the late Whitney Houston in her final movie role.

Sparkle, a remake of the 1976 film of the same name, tells the story of three sisters trying to make it big as a girl group in 1960s Detroit.  The story was inspired by that of The Supremes, who came out of Detroit during the Motown era.   It stars American Idol champ Jordin Sparks as the title character.  Houston played the sisters’ struggling single mother, who had herself been a singer when she was younger.  The cast also features Cee Lo Green and Mike Epps.

Houston died on February 11 after accidentally drowning in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.  Her other film credits include The Bodyguard, The Preacher’s Wife and Waiting to Exhale.

Read on to see the full trailer for Sparkle, out in theaters on August 17.

WATCH: Johnny Depp In New ‘Dark Shadows’ Trailer

The vampire trend in movies isn’t over but Dark Shadows is a completely different vibe.

Johnny Depp and Tim Burton team up again for a campy, humorous version of the bloodsucking mythology that was once a nighttime soap opera.

Depp plays Barnabas Collins, a vampire who is cursed for two hundred years and wakes up in the 70s to find a world he doesn’t recognize. Funky clothes and an even funkier soundtrack set the mood for the film’s dark humor.

Costarring Michelle Pfeiffer, Chloe Moretz, Eva Green and Helena Bonham Carter, Dark Shadows opens May 11th.

WATCH: ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Trailer: Unintelligible Bane & Catwoman’s Occupy Wall Street Warning

The Dark Knight Rises

Christopher Nolan‘s latest take in the Batman mythos is still months away from hitting the big screen but the first theatrical trailer has appeared to whet our appetite for more.

The Dark Knight Rises trailer is causing massive buzz among fans already.

Tom Hardy gets his mask on as the super villain Bale and while he’s evil and menacing, many are complaining of having trouble understanding what he says thanks to that mask. (For the record, I don’t think it was that bad. It was a bit garbled for a moment but nothing terrible.)

One of the more intriguing aspects of the storyline is the warning Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) delivers to Bruce Wayne/Batman (Christian Bale.)

Nolan was rumored to have wanted to shoot scenes in Zuccotti Park in New York City where the Occupy Wall Street protesters are located but that didn’t happen. Instead it looks like the director is letting Catwoman voice the sentiments of the people taking part in the ongoing demonstration.

“A storm is coming, Mr. Wayne,” Kyle whispers in Bruce’s ear. “You and your friends better batten down the hatches because when it hits, you’re all going to wonder how you ever thought how you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us”

Add that to Bane’s destruction of the football field – taking out the pricey athletes and coaches – not the everyday Joe sitting in the stands – and this film just might have more political undertones to it than your normal superhero summer blockbuster studio fare.

But Nolan isn’t known for taking the average route.

New Full-Length Trailer For Disney Pixar’s ‘Brave’

The first full-length trailer for Brave – the Disney Pixar 3D film of Scottish heroine Merida and her journey to find true bravery.

Merida (voiced by Kelly Macdonald) makes a wish from a witch that doesn’t turn out as planned and she confronts tradition, her destiny and a few crazy beasts along the way.

The visuals are lush and gorgeous, as expected and the vocal talent is superb – costarring along with Macdonald are Emma Thompson, Julie Walters, Robbie Coltrane, Craig Ferguson and Billy Connolly.

And of course there is crazy Scotsman mooning the crowd in a kilt – what can I say, it was funny.

Brave will be in theaters June 22, 2012.

Check Out Julia Roberts & Lily Collins In The Other Snow White ‘Mirror, Mirror’ (VIDEO)

Mirror, Mirror has released it’s first trailer hot on the heels of Snow White & The Huntsman doing the same late last week (watch that trailer here.)

Although both films appear visually stylish with grand sets and costuming, the similarities in how the fable is re-imagined stop there.

Julia Roberts is the deliciously bitchy Wicked Queen, Lily Collins the fair Snow White and Armie Hammer the charming Prince – this film, directed by Tarsem Singh, has a comedic undertone and brightness that separates it from the Kristen Stewart/Charlize Theron version.

Mirror, Mirror is in theaters March 16, 2012.

WATCH: Jennifer Lawrence In ‘The Hunger Games’ Trailer

Take a look at the first trailer for The Hunger Games!!

Good Morning America had the first peek of Jennifer Lawrence and the gang are in their full-costumed glory (check out Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket in matching magenta suit and make-up!)

The first trailer is all about the lead up to the games, giving viewers an introduction to the characters and places; and of course, how the story comes to be with Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) fighting for their lives in The Hunger Games.

We only get a glimpse at the other competitors and a small window of the beginning of the deadly competition but I’m sure more will be coming.

The Hunger Games cast includes Liam Hemsworth, Wes Bentley, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Lenny Kravitz and directed by Gary Ross opens March 23, 2012.

WATCH: Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron & Chris Hemsworth In ‘Snow White & The Huntsman’ Trailer

Fairy tales being retold are nothing new, but the new trailer for Snow White and The Huntsman is already distinguishing itself as a contender for what could be one of the best adaptations.

It’s still early and this is only the first of many peeks leading up to the summer 2012 release but Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron are intriguing in their roles of Snow White, The Huntsman and the Evil Queen respectively.

With Theron’s rendition of the infamous line “Mirror, Mirror on the wall. Who is fairest of them all?” the plan to find Snow White (Stewart) and kill the one who is fairer than the evil Queen, is set in motion.

Hemsworth’s Huntsman is recruited by the wicked monarch because he is “someone who does not fear the dark forest.”

Director Rupert Sanders visual style gives the once Disney-fied story a bleak and frightful edge for a modern audience.

Watch the trailer under and check out all the new character posters released by Universal Studios. It is slated to open on June 2, 2012.

WATCH: Danny Devito, Taylor Swift & Zac Efron In Dr. Seuss’ Colorful ‘The Lorax’

Dr. Seuss‘ environmental fable, The Lorax is coming to the big screen in a brightly colored world of 3D and CGI animation in the spring of 2012 and the first trailer is here.

Zac Efron voices the boy (named Ted in the film) and Taylor Swift is Ashley, the girl he has a crush on who wants nothing more than to see the Truffala Trees in the natural world.

Danny Devito is the “furry peanut” The Lorax, Betty White is Ted’s grandmother and Ed Helms will bring the Once-ler to life.

The trailer gives a glimpse at the tale Seuss was telling – the industrial and consumerist society that destroys the natural world – while trying to fill out the hour-plus long time the film will run with humor and remain true to the story.

Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul are the writers for this adaptation and the duo also worked on Horton Hears A Who and Despicable Me.

Check out the trailer and some photos below and tell us – do you have high hopes for The Lorax? (Read the article)

‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows’ Second Trailer Is Here (VIDEO)

Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are back as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows directed by Guy Ritchie and a new trailer is now online.

The slow motion style of explosions, witty one-liners between the leads and we finally meet Professor Moriarty (played by Mad Men star Jared Harris) – Holmes’ greatest arch enemy – we’re getting quite a peek at the upcoming film.

What else is in the trailer? Rachel McAdams, looking stunning of course, the original Girl with The Dragon Tattoo, Swedish actress Noomi Rapace and Downey Jr. in drag – not his best disguise, as Sherlock quips.
