Sex addict, Russell Brand will be hosting the MTV Video Music Awards on Spetmeber 13th for his second time.  I guess that being a total ass and making crude jokes about the Jonas Brothers is the way to go.  That’s exactly what Russell did his first go around and he scored another hosting gig.

“We are thrilled that, despite numerous death threats from Jonas Brothers fans, Russell Brand has accepted our offer to put his life on the line and host the VMAs again this year,” MTV General Manager Stephen Friedman said in a statement.

I personally find Russell Brand to be repulsive.  The snap above helps to prove my point.  The guy is simply yuck.  Blah.  Ewwwwww.

In VERY exciting news, Olivia Palermo- The City cast member who we all love to hate- has taken a job at Elle and will not be filmed partying much on the next season of the show. However, MTV has found two “vixens” to fake friendship with Whitney Port for ratings replace her with.

At Saturday’s Pepsi Natural party at Lily Pond in East Hampton, star Whitney Port held court with two new “friends” who, we hear, will have recurring roles next season.

“Their names are Samantha and Roxy, and they are out of control,” says a source. “MTV brought in new party girls because the first season was so boring and because Olivia Palermo now works at Elle and can’t be out going wild.” A source at MTV describes the new girls as “vixens.”

Oh joy! Why couldn’t they just leave well-enough alone? Get rid of the snobby socialite, and how about replacing her with another cool chick like Erin? There’s enough drama in the world- why do they have to create more?

Even though Paris Hilton and beau Doug Reinhardt have spent every waking minute of their lives lately making out in public, giving lap dances, and getting kicked off yachts for inappropriate behavior, they are way too cool for “The Hills“. Funny how Doug would still be a nobody without that show, and Paris would have probably never met him (or liked him), but they are still so quick to bash it.

“The show is, like, so lame and fake. He doesn’t even want to be a part of it,” Hilton said. “They make up relationships when they’re not there, and he just thinks it’s lame,” she said. “I’ve never seen the show in my life. I have no idea what it’s about. But he just thought it was cheesy.”

So what about her super classy and not at all cheesy MTV reality show, My New BFF? That’s where Doug will be making his future appearances.

“It was great,” she said. “He was always on set every single day, giving fun ideas. With him there, he always gave the most amazing ideas. They actually hired him as a producer to be on BFF Dubai [Hilton filmed a version of her American reality show there]. They loved his ideas so much.”

Delusional people are hilarious to me. I wonder if she will ever wake up out of her dream land? What a loser.

Star of Jackass and recent contestant on Dancing with the Stars, Steve-O is now getting his very own MTV special, “Steve-O: Demise and Rise“. The documentary style show will air on May 3 and will be a self-documented look “inside the mind of a man struggling with drug and alcohol addiction,” MTV said.

“This explosive special gives a raw, intimate first-hand account of Steve-O’s downward spiral to when he ultimately hits rock bottom and is saved by the intervention of friends and his own will to do whatever it takes to get — and stay — sober,” the network said in a news release.

“Addiction is a brain disease that kills. Steve suffered from the profound consequences of long-standing polydrug addiction. The disease brought him to the edge of sanity and one night nearly took his life,” Dr. Drew Pinsky said in a statement. “His recovery has been an inspiring but gut-wrenching process. Steve remains an inspiration to all. Those that have come to know him through this process love him.”

“This documentary captures the most frightening moments of my friend at the apex of his addiction. I know because I was there,” Steve-O’s friend and frequent collaborator Johnny Knoxville said. “More importantly though it offers hope, and documents the tremendous amount of courage and hard work on Steve-O’s behalf to turn that hope into a healthy person.”

I think it’s wonderful that MTV is airing this special- it will be an inside look at the rise and fall of a guy American kids loved. Maybe it will open some eyes to the dangers of drinking and drug use. From what I understand and what I have read, Steve-O almost died from his addiction, and that is a real thing that happens every day across the world. I hope this program educates and wakes up people everywhere.

Since Ashton beat CNN in a race to a million Twitter followers, Spence now wants in on the action. A current cast member on MTV’s The Real World is set to deploy for Iraq. Ryan Conklin- a 23 year old who was also on the front lines three years ago- received his deployment orders while living in the Real World Brooklyn house.

“I want to get this thing started, because the sooner I do it, the sooner it’ll be over,” he said Wednesday. “I’m kind of just getting antsy with time.” He hopes to serve a rotation of just nine months.

Conklin, who voiced his opposition to the war and participated in a Veterans Day parade on the show, touched the hearts of viewers who sympathized with his predicament. “I knew it could happen,” Conklin said of being redeployed. “I really wish it never did, but it did.”

He estimates there are hundreds of soldiers in his brigade who’ve been recalled to active duty through the Army’s Individual Ready Reserve program. “They’re all here,” he said in an interview from Fort Bragg, N.C. “They’re all pretty bitter. … Misery loves company, so we stick together.”

When he returns, Ryan hopes to continue his dream of filmmaking. My heart goes out to all the courageous men and women who serve in our armed forces. I hate that people are having to do multiple tours, risking their lives over and over again… Best wishes to Ryan on a safe stay in Iraq. Come home and conquer your dreams!!!

The Real World is a legend in the world of reality tv. In fact, it was the pioneer in ushering in the reality movement. Now there’s news that they will be taking the 23rd installment to the political capitol of our nation- Washington, DC.

An ad placed by The Real World’s Bunim/Murray Productions is looking for an accountant in Washington, D.C. to work “a major reality TV production company” on a job that lasts roughly 20 weeks, The New York Post reported Wednesday.

While Cancun is serving as the setting for The Real World’s twenty-second season, which is currently filming, MTV recently renewed the long-running reality TV series for four additional seasons — extending it through its 26th season.

I hope it does head to Washington. MTV likes to push the envelope, but hopefully they won’t put a bunch of drunk, uneducated morons on Capitol Hill. That would be ridiculous.

Ok, so despite the fact that we now know that Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt will break up, then get back together and plan their wedding on this season of The Hills, Speidi is trying to bring some sort of shock factor back. And here it is: Heidi is more talented that some of the biggest names in pop music EVER. Wow.

Asked to name five artists Heidi Montag is more talented than, Spencer Pratt said, “Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Beyonce and Christina Aguilera.”

“I wouldn’t even compare them to Heidi’s level,” he went on. “I am in the studio everyday with Heidi I know what’s coming. I can make claims like that.”

It’s pretty comical how delusional these two are. I am all about supporting your partner and believing in them, but calling the trash she puts out better than Madonna or Christina? Come on! Christina can hit notes that maybe 10 other people on earth can, and as much as I have no respect for Madonna, she’s a legend. Heidi’s a joke. They just don’t compare.

Unfortunately for him, Nick Lachey is probably best known for his role in Newlyweds and his marriage to Jessica Simpson. But now with a new album coming out and a role as executive producer for the new MTV show Taking the Stage, Nick is growing up and really progressing in his career. He sat down with Life & Style Magazine, and here are some highlights:

“I don’t think you can expect to make money anymore in the music industry. You do it because you love to do it. I love to sing; I have no expectations on a business level. You put your best foot forward and be proud. The record business has been on a downward spiral for a long time.”

“I tell people all of the time, the biggest thing is don’t take no for answer. In 98 Degrees we were trying to get a record deal or just an answer or response with our first album. If we took no for answer, we would have packed it in immediately. But we didn’t. You can’t let it discourage you. It’s a demoralizing industry to your psyche, but you have to believe in your training.”

The fifth season of The Hills will apparently be the last. Though most of the stars have made that claim before, this time Lauren Conrad says it’s for real.

“My biggest thing with the show was that I wanted to walk away from it while it’s still a great thing,” said Conrad in Seventeen magazine’s April issue, People reported Wednesday.

“I always want to remember it that way. I gave MTV a deadline and said, ‘This is as long as I can do it and stay sane.’”

Her apparent former nemeses Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag have offered to take over the show many times, however I really hope that MTV isn’t that stupid. Bonus The Hills fourth-season episodes are currently slated to premiere on MTV in March.� A fifth-season debut date has yet-to-be-announced.

The “Ikki Twins” took over for Tila Tequila on the world’s trashiest show A Shot at Love, and it seems that Vikki may have actually found love. Riiiight. Apparently she and her sister both wanted hot surfer boy, Trevor, but in the end, she’s the one who got him. Here’s the dish:

He just moved to California yesterday, so that’s cool. I’m probably moving to LA next month and he’s going to be in Hermosa Beach, so we’ll be pretty close to each other. I just really want to try and spend as much time with him and Rikki, to try and get that relationship better.

Because, you know it’s impossible for me to date somebody that’s not getting along with my sister. And I’m sure they will. Rikki just has to, well both of them kind of just have to get over it. And it’ll be easy once we get a couple beers in them, to make them get over it.

I’m just really looking forward to us being a fabulous threesome and me and Trevor trying to find Rikki somebody that she can love too. But of course, who is compatible with me and Trevor.

Whitney and Jay go on a double date with models Adam and Ali, who tells Whit to keep an eye on him while she travels for work.

Olivia goes out in search for a “photograph” and was sad she missed the auction at Christie’s… Seriously?

Erin and Whitney go for a walk in the park and discuss Ali and Adam’s disfunctional relationship and how wild he is when she’s gone.

The boys hit up a bar with very scantily clad dressed women dancing on tables or something. Some girls approach them, and Adam wants to leave with them but Jay is hesitant. Good boy, Jay.

Whit goes to lunch with the girls and talk about how Adam made out with one of the girls, Cat (who has a boyfriend of 4 years). Lovely.

When Whit hung out with Jay, he denied that Adam did anything. They got drinks later, and Jay told him about the drama. Adam told Jay nothing happened, and that he would get it straight with Ali.

When Adam picked her up from the airport, he told her about how Peter brought some girls back to the apartment and one of the girls is claiming to have kissed him. He went on about how it wasn’t true, but Ali questioned why she would make that up.

Olivia’s cousin Nevan is crashing at her place and she lays out lots of ground rules- like no chicks and no wearing those sneakers. Um, ok?

The girls get together for lunch at Cafeteria and discuss the drama with Adam. They all express their concern for Ali and her being a relationship where a guy might be messing around, and how it was 8am when the girls were at his place. She thanks them for their friendship and then gets on the phone with Adam to have him meet her. She asks him why every time she leaves he has to have drunk parties with girls he doesn’t know, and he admits he was very wrong, apologizes and professes his love. The dude’s a dog, but whatever.
