Remember Britney Spears disastrous performance of Gimme More at the MTV Video Music Awards last year? I think there’s no doubt that was the most talked about, most embarrassing live performance on MTV ever.

Live?? Oh sorry! I meant pseudo-live, freaking lip-synching through the whole sorry excuse for a dance routine, fat filled boring performance of Gimme More! It’s not like MTV cares if it’s good or not…

Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks, told the Associated Press he would be willing to give Britney another chance, despite her disastrous appearance at the 2007 VMAs.

“Everyone deserves a second or third chance, right?”

When asked if he was just joking, Toffler said “sorta.”

“Who knows?” he said.

“I’m not sure how we top Britney opening the show,” said Toffler. “We are working on it every minute of every day.”

It’s win/win situation for MTV. Britney can do most amazing performance ever or she could fail miserably. Either way there will be much to talk about in the following weeks.

The reunion show premiered tonight on MTV and as usual, dramas, screaming and Coral giving Evelyn hell were on tap for the night.

Those who came for the show: Brad Fiorenza, Eric Banks, Rachel Moyal, Coral Smith, Frank Roessler, Nehemiah Clark, Evelyn Smith, Tori Hall, Jillian Zoboroski, Evan Starkman, Katie Doyle, Johanna Botta, Kenny Santucci and Paula Meronek.

Have the Veterans forgiven Eric, “Easy E” for his physical failure of that fateful last challenge? Hardly…

Although he admits that his pace is slower than the rest of his teammates, Eric still thinks that if the team had worked together, they would have eventually won in the end.  Eric’s statement drives his teammates mad, especially Evelyn, who is still pissed off at Eric for partying with the Rookies just after his breakdown.

This was a great season of competitions. The Coral/Beth showdown was definetly fun to witness. The Veteran guys have no one to blame but themselves. They were too easy to dismiss doubts about Eric abilities to finish because he was a great, likable guy. Those final missions are always intense and done as a team so you are only as strong as your weakest player.

Now onto the rumor mill: Here is a link with a possible cast for the newest installment of RW/RR Challenge: The Duel 2. Now where it’s filming, if it’s filming at all, is not known. This was originally posted on the wikipedia entry and was then deleted/edited. I’m still hoping for a shirtless TJ Lavin to host.

What is it with this girl? Lauren Conrad is once again lamenting her friends loyalties (or lack thereof in her mind,) and by coincidence, lands the cover of Us Magazine in doing so. Not really mentioning Heidi Montag (only in reference to Audrina) or Spencer Pratt for once, this time she takes aim at Brody Jenner and Audrina Partridge.

For the first time, Conrad opens up to Us in an exclusive interview about how ex Brody Jenner went public with a new girlfriend just days after she left for Paris while best friend Audrina Patridge buried the hatchet with Conrad’s ex-BFF, Heidi Montag.

“At this point, I have to question every person that wants to have a relationship with me, whether it’s a friendship or a romantic relationship,” she tells Us.

The latest betrayals have been especially difficult for Conrad, who battled sex-tape rumors allegedly spread by Montag and caught one-time beau Jason Wahler in a liplock with another girl.

Wahler has anger management issues among other things so it’s no suprise there. Jenner has a reputation for being well, let’s say it starts with ’star’ and ends with ‘f***ker’ and what did Partridge do that was so terrible? Have a friendship with someone you don’t like? Oh wait, Partridge is starting to get attention. Interesting how when Montag got some of the fans from the show, Conrad had a problem with her too. Sounds very Paris Hilton-esque to me.

I always love the RW/RR Challenges. MTV should do away with the Real World series now. Just put it out to pasture where it belongs. Now the Challenges are pretty fun to watch. Tonight was the finale of The Gauntlet 3 and it went down with an eye fluttering thud from the big man on the team. Eric ‘EaZy-E’ went down with heart palpitations and that cost the Veteran team their win because it was an Army “Leave No Man Behind” final mission. Nice plug for the army. With Eric down and out, the rookies had all day and night to dig out the treasure box and raise their flag even after the Vets had already hoisted theirs. Brad (or maybe it was Kenny?) said it best when he said “If we just power walked the whole thing…” Next Wednesday at 10pm for the reunion show. Now if only they’d get TJ Lavin to host it shirtless…

With his daughter Jesse, set to be featured on MTV’s newest reality show, Rock The Cradle, “Two Tickets To Paradise” king Eddie Money is back, touring casinos near you, writing a Broadway musical of his life and going a little country. Of his Great White Way ambitions, he had this to say:

I’m hoping to get it on Broadway in the next couple years. I’m calling it Two Tickets to Paradise, and it’s basically the Eddie Money story, but I’ve kind of condensed everything and moved all the events back so that I’m writing “Two Tickets” in the late ’60s, about 10 years earlier than I actually did.

I wanted to capture that whole era, because it was such an important time when it seemed like everything was going on at once. I had a brother who was in the war zone in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive, so I wanted to capture that. The whole show takes place on the night before I left [New York] for California. It shows how I met Laurie [his wife], it shows the overdose, all of that stuff.

It’s kind of like Jersey Boys a little bit, but in a different time period. That show reminded me a lot of myself, except in Jersey Boys it’s Frankie Valli’s daughter who dies of a drug overdose and in my play it’s me that has one. So we’ll see. There’s a lot of interest in it in New York right now, so I’m hopeful.

The Hills most hated couple Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, still seem to be postponing that engagement. The terrible twosome were seen together in Los Angeles recently for an afternoon of lunch with a side order of publicity and what wasn’t there? Heidi’s engagement ring.

Montag fueled split rumors Monday by showing up solo at the Hills finale and not wearing her ring.

The following day, Pratt spoke out about their wedding plans on Seacrest’s KIIS-FM show:

“In my mind I’m not moving on or looking for dates. I don’t know where Heidi is, I know she needs her space, but I don’t want to get back to my bachelor days. Heidi is the most perfect girl on the planet.”

These two are made for each other: Z list celebrities with a hunger for more publicity than they have earned.

In the same vein as Laguna Beach, MTV returned it’s successful reality show, Newport Harbor for 4 new episodes. Chrissy Schwartz, Clay Adler, Allie Stockton and the rest of the gang return for more drama, heartbreak and beach time sun.

This much awaited reunion will shed light on the cast as they deal with new rivalries, love triangles and more family drama.

Within the next few episodes, fans will finally learn if absence makes the heart grow fonder or if first love is easy to forget for Chrissy, who decided to make her long-distance relationship with Clay work and who heads home to Newport since leaving for college.

These shows are incredibly successful for MTV so look for many many more to come.

MTV is genius at creating reality television. Their newest smash hit, A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila, starring bisexual MySpace star Tila Tequila has finally come down to the final two. Dani Campbell and Bobbi Banhardt. Campbell is becoming a rising star, including coining a phrase that’s catching on with America.

The 29-year-old has even created a new word to describe her style, “futch” (pronounced “footch”).

Neither feminine nor butch, she says she’s somewhere in between, and created the mashed-up word to get her point across.

And it’s caught on with fans. Campbell is even designing a clothing line, called Futch.

My bet is on Campbell, the 29 year old lesbian firefighter from Florida to win. MTV wants to court controversy and there is no way that they’d let this come down to a ‘conventional’ relationship.

Lead singer of My Chemical Romance, Gerard Way says he is optimistic about the future although he is a bit bummed about the change in the way music is now purchased online instead of in the record store.

Even I miss going to the record shop. In the next five or ten years, kids who are growing up will have never been to a record store. That’s a crazy feeling. It makes the music a little more disposable, it makes the artwork and the packaging a little bit invalid, which is a drag. There’s nothing better than holding something physical. I loved the discovery of buying music solely off the packaging, the name of the band, the names of the songs. The Pink Floyd albums always got me — Wish You Were Here, Animals, Dark Side — or a Good Riddance 7″, with a photo of a distorted baby on the cover. I remember falling in love with [Smashing Pumpkins'] Gish, and then counting the days until Siamese Dream came out, then taking the hour-long roundtrip bus-ride to the mall to buy it. It was an incredible feeling, it was something I had invested in.

I have to agree. I miss the art of the album cover. It’s now just a picture of the singer (boring!) Album covers used to give you a sense of the music, a visual of the story the musicians wanted to tell. Now the only story is how many hits and which star producers worked on it so the albums aren’t congruent thoughts anymore. Disjointed songs with no theme and maybe one or two radio friendly hits. Blah

Illusionist Criss Angel is finally speaking about the MTV Video Music Awards show when he was supposed to produce Britney Spears opening act.

 ”We were supposed to do a creation of stuff that we worked on and it took a lot of dedication and work to do the things that we wanted to do,” Criss, on the set of his new NBC series Phenomenon, recalls exclusively to OK! about Britney’s planned VMA performance. “Unfortunately for me, she didn’t really want to put forth that type of effort.”

Spears just didn’t want to work that hard, is the gist of what Angel is publicly saying. Well that’s not suprising. She doesn’t have the drive to work, just to be infamous. Such different things.

The Hills star Heidi Montag says that her website was hacked and she did not post the ‘confessional’ that it was her and icky boyfriend, Spencer Pratt who started rumours about co-star and frenemy Lauren Conrad supposed sex-tape.

Montag and Pratt seemed more perplexed than anyone else as to how the posting made it on the site, with Pratt citing the “Blonde Defense.”

“I don’t think [Heidi] would even know how to log in to her Web site,” he joked to reporters. Montag quickly added, “Yeah, I don’t even know how to run that, or else I would have put up World Relief Week, and all these statistics about world hunger.”

Why is it that it just sounds like Pratt and Montag staging something else for publicity?

The Hills star Heidi Montag has discovered that her fiance, Spencer Pratt, was not only tipping off the paparazzi about their whereabouts, but he’s been pocketing half the cash for sold photos.

But recently she inadvertently learned that Spencer has been splitting the profits with the photographers. When the exclusive pictures sell, HE gets half the money. He’s probably made close to $100,000 from one Hollywood photo agency and he never gave Heidi a dime! She’s NOT happy.

Controversial rapper Kanye West has come to realize his words are powerful. He recently told Access Hollywood that while he isn’t trying to be sensational with what he says, he has always been outspoken and gotten in trouble for it.

“Well, I’m not even trying to be controversial. I’m not trying to be something that I’m not. I was always like the kid that got sent to the office for saying ‘Hey, the art teacher sucks!,” he said.

Earlier this month, he called out MTV for having Britney Spears open the VMAs and not him. He wondered aloud why MTV would book her, when she hasn’t has a hit in a few years instead of himself.

“I think that I have a powerful voice and I might have misused it on that night,” the chart-topper told Access. “I think I said a lot of things that were true but maybe it wasn’t my place to particularly call those things out.”

That statement represents a huge step forward for Kanye. He is a very smart man who has a lot to show still and lets it get lost in bravado. With his new album, Graduation, maybe he has learned a thing or two.

Eating disorders and cutting are not new problems to the entertainment industry, or anywhere else, but many more people are coming forward with their own stories. Actress Brittany Snow, 21, reveals that she began dieting as early as age 12 on the set of The Guiding Light from seeing other women do so and gain acceptance. 

“It kind of progressed into this thing where I needed to always be dieting and losing weight and more weight,” she says in the site’s interview series Half of Us, which addresses mental health issues and ways to get help. “It became my life and I didn’t have any friends and this was definitely my best friend and I held on to it really tight.”

She opens up about weighing 85 pounds and still felt the need to weigh less and at 19 she began cutting herself, crying out for attention.

Her advice to girls who are going though a similar situation is to take baby steps. “It’s very important to talk to anybody. Maybe the first step is just to talk to a friend about it,” she says. “Probably they’ll relate in some way.”

Waisting away is hardly new in Hollywood and yet to see Courtney Love become that thin is pretty shocking. In London for a film premiere, Courtney looked hollow, sad and gaunt.

The former Hole frontwoman was all skin and bone as she arrived for a movie screening at the Electric Cinema in Notting Hill to benefit the British Film Institute.

With her backless halter neck dress revealing a protruding ribcage, the gaunt star looked a shadow of her once buxom former self.

At the launch party of Stella McCartney’s new line for Adidas, the war of words continued between Love and Sharon Osbourne, who accused Court of introducing her son Jack, then 15, to OxyContin pain killers. Love claims it was the other way around and responded to Sharon’s criticism.

But the 43-year-old widow of Kurt Cobain hit back, saying: “I never did that. I would never give drugs to a teenager. F*** you Sharon - as if I would ever give drugs to a teenager.”
