Ray J Hospitalized After Billboard Awards & Squabble With Whitney Houston’s Family

Drama follows Whitney Houston‘s legacy and family.

Houston’s rumored ex-boyfriend Ray J was in Las Vegas on Sunday for the 2012 Billboard Music Awards and to watch the tribute to Whitney but things went awry shortly after.

Before the show even began, Houston’s sister-in-law and former manager, Pat Houston had uniformed security try to remove Ray J, who was seated behind the family.

Pat was informed that Ray J would not comply but they could forcibly remove him, causing lots of unwanted attention. Pat decided to allow Ray J to stay and avoid the possible ruckus. He was able to witness the Jordin Sparks/John Legend musical number and Bobbi Kristina‘s emotional speech while accepting the Millenium Award for her late mother.

He hosted a launch party at Rio Hotel & Casino for Prince Reigns (a hair-care product he is endorsing) after he left the Billboard Awards and went to his hotel room at the end of the evening.

It was shortly after the ceremony that Ray J’s pals noticed something was wrong with the singer.

Early Monday morning a friend realized he wasn’t coherent and was extremely disoriented. Ray J was taken to a Las Vegas area hospital where he is currently resting and recuperating.

Ray J’s rep says the singer is just overwrought from his very hectic travel and business schedule. He is being treated for “exhaustion and jet lag” and will remain in the care of medical professionals at the hospital.

Turns out, Brandy Norwood‘s little brother was in China just before the Awards and when he landed in the U.S., he drove 4 hours to get to Las Vegas and the Houston tribute and squabble, which all took it’s toll on Ray J.

Donna Summer, ‘Queen Of Disco’ Dies At Age 63

The singer who defined the disco era, Donna Summer has died at age 63 in Florida from cancer.

Summer, who became known as the ‘Queen of Disco’ topped the charts with hits “Last Dance,” “Hot Stuff” and “Bad Girls” before the sex, drug and glittery disco-ball craze died out.

She had a successful album in 1983 and moved away from the synthizied sounds of the 70s with her hit “She Works Hard For The Money.”

Born LaDonna Adrian Gaines in Boston, Massachusetts in 1948; she was one of seven children from her father (a butcher) and her schoolteacher mother.

Summer came to represent the era’s excess and later she became a born-again Christian who spoke out against the “sinful” nature of the music and time.

Summer released her last album, Crayons in 2008 although TMZ reports she was working on new material at the time of her death.

She is survived by her husband, Brooklyn Dreams singer Bruce Sudano. Summer also has three daughters; two with Sudano and one from her first marriage to German actor Helmut Sommer.

The lead singer of Florence + The Machine chose a tiered, poufy, frilly look from Alexander McQueen.

The champagne colored, layered and embroidered dress with plunging sweetheart neckline and sheer overlay was a true high-fashion moment at the event.

Not everyone will like this look but Florence is true to her own style and she chose a dress appropriate for a fashion shindig.

Taylor Swift Wanted For Joni Mitchell Role In Biopic

A biopic of some of the most influential women in music history is on the horizon and Taylor Swift is eying a significant role.

Variety is reporting that Sheila Weller‘s book Girls Like Us: Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon – and the Journey of a Generation is being turned into a movie and working it’s way up the film ladder in Hollywood with Swift linked to play Mitchell.

The book tells the story of the three women, their very different backgrounds and how they each influenced music in the late 60s and early 70s.

No official offers have been made but Swift is the reported frontrunner for Mitchell and Alison Pill (Goon, Midnight in Paris) is in the lead for the part of King.

While the flick isn’t official yet, it is tentatively titled Girls Like Us and would be directed by House executive producer Katie Jacobs.

The 22 year-old Swift has been dipping her toes in the acting world with a small part in the Garry Marshall film Valentine’s Day and voicing Audrey in the animated movie adaptation of Dr. SeussThe Lorax. The part of Mitchell would be her first major acting job.

If the project gets off the ground, it could begin filming as early as the fall of this year.

Carey Mulligan & Marcus Mumford Tie The Knot

 Carey MulliganMarcus Mumford

It was a whirlwind romance that culminated in a walk down the aisle yesterday:  actress Carey Mulligan married Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford in England.

The couple, who have been engaged just a year and together not much longer than that, were wed in the barn at Stream Farm in Somerset.  Mumford’s father, who is a vicar, conducted the ceremony.

The rural location didn’t stop celebrities from attending:  among the 200 guests were (reportedly) Sienna Miller, Jake Gyllenhaal and Colin Firth.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
