Christopher Schwarzenegger has had a busy day following his release from the hospital earlier this week.

The 13 year-old who suffered broken ribs and a collapsed lung in a boogie boarding accident, joined his mom, Maria Shriver, as the visited The Grove shopping center in Los Angeles yesterday afternoon where his older brother Patrick Schwarzenegger has an internship.

At one point the group met up with Extra host Mario Lopez, who films celebrity interviews at the outdoor mall location. Christopher was seen still wearing his hospital ID bracelet while out that day.

Later the teenager had dinner at Spago’s with his mom and her friend Oprah Winfrey.

Maria and Oprah met in the 80s in Baltimore and the two have been close ever since. Shriver even appeared on Oprah’s farewell show just as news was breaking of her separation from husband of 25 years, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Oprah Winfrey is taking control of her fledgling network and giving herself a promotion.

The TV titan is now the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Creative Officer of the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) beginning in the fall of 2011. Peter Ligouri, the current and temporary COO after Christina Norman‘s departure this spring, will step away when Oprah takes the helm.

Oprah is also bringing her Harpo Studios execs Eric Logan and Sheri Salata with her.

In a letter posted to her Facebook, Oprah says she is ready to take the reigns and bring out OWN’s potential.

“Our intention is to use the cable platform and the internet platform and the mobile platform to create messages that fill you up and bring you to new levels of awareness about yourself, ourselves, and our world; our potential…

It’s an incredible challenge ahead trying to figure out what kind of shows and programming will resonate with you, inspire you, bring a little piece of light into your already crowded existence. But I feel called to do it, and will be relying on your feedback, emails and tweets and message boards to let me know what you think.”

With new programming, including the Rosie O’Donnell talk show in October, and Oprah and her Harpo team heading the network, this is probably Oprah’s best bet at turning the ratings around.

Dominating social media and gaining Little Monsters by the hour, Lady Gaga has toppled Oprah Winfrey in the annual 100 Most Powerful Celebrities List by Forbes magazine.

Now Oprah still kicks Gaga’s tush when it comes to earnings last year, but the “Born This Way” singer’s influence is what sustained her and put her in the top spot. Gaga brought in $90 million last year while Oprah killed it with $290 mil.

Justin Bieber lands at number 3 – the youngest and only teenager raked in an estimated $53 million.

Elton John is the top Brit in 5th place with $100 million and Tiger Woods is still the leader in influential sports figures with $75 million earning him 6th place.

Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s wedding was missing one Duchess.

Sarah Ferguson, former wife of Prince Andrew and mother of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie was not invited to the April 29th Westminster Abbey nuptials.

The Duchess of York, 51, recognizes that because she was caught up in a scandal last year (she was caught on tape offering access to Prince Andrew for $724,000) she didn’t get the invite, but it didn’t lessen the sting.

She told Oprah and the audience of The Oprah Winfrey Show “I was not invited.”

“I went through the phase of feeling so totally worthless and that it was quite right they didn’t invite me. Why would they – why would they invite me?”

Ferguson says she left the UK to watch the wedding on TV like everyone else.

‘I felt that I ostracised myself by my behaviour, by the past, by living with all the regrets of my mistakes, that I sort of wore a hair shirt and beat myself up most of the day thinking and regretting why did I make such a mistake? Why have I made so many mistakes?

‘I chose to go and be in Thailand in a place called Camelia… the jungle embraced me,’ she said.

Ultimately, she spent time on the phone with Andrew, before the ceremony, who tried cheering her up.

“When Andrew went with the girls, we were talking all morning and he was saying, “It’s okay. Just remember we had such a good day. Our wedding was so perfect,” she recalled. “Because we’re such a unit together. He made me feel very part of the day on April the 29th.”

Ferguson, 51, fondly remembered her good friend, the late Princess Diana, and felt she would have been immensely proud of William and Kate.

“I really love the feeling that sort of Diana and I both weren’t there,” the Duchess said. “But I’m here to say how proud she would have been and Kate looked utterly beautiful.”

“I think Diana would be so proud of her son. Both of them, you know? They did a great job.”

Oprah is planning a big reveal for her show on Monday January 24th.

The daytime talk diva said in the promo for the upcoming episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show:

“I thought I’d seen it all. But this, my friends, is the miracle of all miracles. I was given some news that literally shook me to my core. This time, I’m the one being reunited. Only a handful of people in my life know about this. I’ve been keeping a family secret for months, and you’re going to hear it straight from me.”

While there has been a lot of speculating based on Kitty Kelley’s unauthorized biography of Winfrey and the allegation within that Vernon Winfrey is not Oprah’s biological father, Kelley is now telling Time Out Chicago’s Robert Feder that the big reveal is a half-sister that Oprah’s mother, Vernita Lee, gave up for adoption oh so many years ago.

Kelley is citing an inside family source for her information about Bunny, a grandmother and (allegedly) sibling of Oprah that she never knew about.

Oprah Winfrey‘s new cable station, the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) debuted on January 1, and its first day out went quite well.

On Saturday from 8-11 PM EST, an average of 1 million viewers tuned in to the fledgling channel.   And in the first hour of that block, OWN was the third most watched cable network among those critical 25 to 54 year old viewers.

First and second place that hour went to ESPN (which was showing the Fiesta Bowl) and USA Network (which was showing an NCIS marathon).    OWN was showing its reality series, Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes.   So there you go.  More people would rather watch NCIS than tune in to Oprah’s vanity project, and you can count me among those folks any day.  Oprah is generous and rich and all, but her ego is so big that pretty soon it’s going to be orbited by its own moon.

Oprah Winfrey is currently on the other side of the planet (enjoying summer weather by the way!) filming for her special Oprah’s Ultimate Australian Adventure. The TV talk show host will air four one-hour specials on all things Aussie early next year.

Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe and Steve Irwin’s family are all making their way to Sydney’s Oprah House (yep, that is the power of O – having the iconic Sydney Opera House renamed for her visit) for the taping of the special.

Also on deck is the all-sorts-of-awesome Hugh Jackman. The Wolverine star was attempting a grand entrance descending on a zip line to land on Oprah’s stage when something went awry and Jackman crashed into a lighting fixture. Oprah stopped filming to check out the chiseled man from Oz who was bleeding from the gash under his eye. Thankfully it wasn’t a serious injury.

After cleaning up and a bandage from the paramedics, our man Hugh was all right, he just took too long to pull the brake:

“That was so much fun – until the end,” he said. “I came down waving to everyone, looking over Sydney Harbour, saw my dad, the kids and you, went to pull the brake and then boing.”

Ah, Hugh. As the reporter in the video (check it below) says “That’s how much we love Oprah. We’ll take our most handsome, intelligent man and we’ll chuck him off the Opera House.”

Oprah Winfrey is loving her time in Australia.

The Queen of television has traveled to the country with 300 American audience members to visit and tape for four one-hour segments of her daytime talk show, the first time ever that her show has been filmed outside the U.S.

Winfrey held a press conference before the taping saying:

“I have named myself an unofficial ambassador for Australia and I have the biggest mouth on earth.”

“I know that there’s a lot of talk and concern in this country as to what this will mean for Tourism Australia,” she told reporters as 6,000 fans waited for Winfrey and guests such as rapper Jay-Z and Bon Jovi to come on stage.

“Let me just tell you — this is the truth: It is immeasurable what four hours of a love festival about your country, broadcast in 145 countries around the world, can do,” she said, referring to her legendary selling power.

For her visit, the Sydney Opera House has been dubbed the Oprah House and crowds have lined the streets everywhere she went. The shows will air in January 2011.

Oprah Winfrey is a very generous woman.

We’ve watched for years as she’s given prizes to her audience and holiday trips to staff members that are unheard of by anyone else. Winfrey touts charities and causes and started her own group, the Oprah Winfrey Foundation to fund education and enrichment programs world wide. But just how much does the generous talk show host give? $40 million dollars.

The Giving Back Fund gathered the data and uses media reports, publicist confirmation, tax records and other public means to put together an annual list. For 2009, Oprah outpaced every other celeb (second place went to author Nora Ephron at 4.45 million.)

Oprah kicked off her 25th and final season of her talk show on ABC yesterday (Sept 13) and she did it with a huge bang.  Oprah is always giving out really great gifts to her audience.  But this “gift” took the cake of all cakes.

When Oprah announced that all 300 members of the audience will be going on an eight-day trip to Sydney, calling it ‘Oprah’s Ultimate Australian Adventure‘ I nearly fell off the couch.  So what’s the cherry on top?  John Travolta will be piloting the plane on his private jumbo jet.  Amazing!

And just for fun, Oprah also threw in a Motorola Smartphone for everyone.  Yeah, I think she did it.  Oprah finally outdid herself.
