Paula Abdul Still Unsure About ‘American Idol’ Return

Paula Abdul

Even though American Idol auditions begin June 14 for next season, Paula Abdul claims that she is still unsure if she will be returning. She spoke with David Letterman about her decision…

“I never said (I wasn’t returning). I just said that I’m not sure,” Abdul told Letterman. “It’s called, um, ‘negotiating,’” she added.

But Letterman gave the delusional lady some good advice:

“One time, I tried that, I was coming up to the end of a contract, and I said, ‘I don’t know, maybe I won’t come back,’ and they said, ‘Fine because we’ve got another guy ready to go,’” Letterman told Abdul.

Hey, Paula! You got a great gig on American Idol. Your pop comeback was a major flop. Take a hint, keep your job, and be grateful!!!

Paula Abdul to Perform Her New Single on ‘American Idol’ Stage Tonight!

Paula Abdul WENN

The June cover girl for Ladies Home Journal and queen of skanky tops- Paula Abdul- will be performing her new single on the American Idol stage tonight!

Idol judge Paula Abdul has confirmed recent rumors that she’ll also be performing “[I'm Just] Here For The Music,” the first single from her upcoming new album, on this week’s results show. “I can tell you you’ll see my performance [on the show] on Wednesday night, I’m so excited!” Abdul told Idol host Ryan Seacrest during a Tuesday morning appearance on his KIIS-FM radio show, which also featured the song’s world premiere.

“I haven’t [performed before but] I was invited by the producers and I wasn’t sure if I was going to do it because [time is of] the essence and I literally put everything together on Saturday, rehearsed Sunday and [some] press came in to see it at rehearsal yesterday and it was really good.”

Wow… I am so thrilled to get to hear this new junk she’s putting out. I wish this girl would just stick to dance- she was actually decent at that at some point in her life. I wish Simon would critique her performance tonight on the same scale he does the contestants. That would be fun!!

Paula Abdul Covers Ladies Home Journal June 2009

paula-abdul-ladies-home-journal

Paula Abdul covers the June 2009 issue of Ladies Home Journal.  Ladies Home JOURNAL???!  Whatever, Paula.   I would expect her to be talking about her favorite poison cookie recipe, or how to make curtains out of old red carpet gowns, or something domestic… but no.  Instead, she spills about her addiction to pain killers, and her recent stint in rehab.

“I could have killed myself,” she said. “Withdrawal—it’s the worst thing. I was freezing cold, then sweating hot, then chattering and in so much pain, it was excruciating. But at my very core, I did not like existing the way I had been.”

Paula says she became addicted to pain killers after an “unusual series of accidents,” including a back injury at age 17, a broken leg, a car crash, and an airplane crash “that left her partially paralyzed, requiring 15 spinal surgeries.”

By 2005 she was diagnosed with a chronic pain condition called reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome. The illness, which can be caused by a previous injury, resulted in disabling pain, teeth-chattering, and shingles-like lesions.  Paula wore a patch that delivered a pain medication about 80 times more potent than morphine and took a nerve medication to relieve her symptoms. Sometimes she took a muscle relaxer.

All these drugs are supposedly the reason that Paula seemed “high” on American Idol.  Are they to blame for outfits like this, too?  Or this?  Or THIS??

How The Celebrities Plan On Spending Inauguration Day

While I watch the Inauguration of Barack Obama, and get many shivers up and down my spine I thought I would find out how the celebrities are spending the day. Today opens up so many doors and I’m confident that this is a good thing for everyone that Obama is President.

MEGAN MULLALLY-”I’m not going to go, but I’m definitely going to watch. Are you kidding me? It’s history. I feel really hopeful about the whole thing. I just feel like, it’s hard to say it without sounding like a big gigantic clich, but don’t you feel like there’s change? I feel very hopeful about everything. I think it’s really great the way he’s built his cabinet and the diversity. It feels very new.”

CONAN OBRIEN-Im like that guy that the test is tomorrow and its 10 p.m. the night before.

AMY POEHLER-Ill be watching, definitely watching. Just celebrating, celebrating, celebrating.

DEMI LOVATO-On performing at the Disney Channels Kids’ Inaugural: We Are the Future concert: “It”s not just another president. What’s great about having the Disney Channel at the inauguration is now kids can be able to realize what a great experience this will be I’m ridiculously nervous to a point where I don’t know what I’ll be able to do with myself. And I really hope I don’t fall.”

PORTIA DE ROSSI-Dont we all have so many hopes for that poor man?

KIEFER SUTHERLAND-Im going to watch it on the telly like most other people.

NICK JONAS-”It’s absolutely an honor to be able to perform. We’ve always talked about a future in the White House one day, so to be able to go back should be fun. What we’re doing is all for the children and families of the military … We know that Sasha and Malia [Obama] are fans of ‘Burnin’ Up’ which is probably what we’ll playing.

JENNIFER BEALS-”I’ll be there. I started working for the campaign during the primaries. Then I went to Ohio to speak. I went to Pennsylvania twice, knocked on doors, phone banks, talked to five, 10, 500 people, just did as much as I could. He means the change that you want to see in yourself. The economy is first and foremost, obviously.”

PAULA ABDUL-Im going to be in Tampa on Home Shopping. Im going to watch with my friends.

JASON BATEMAN-I”m excited … we’re putting a new face on the leadership of this country, somebody representing all of us Americans that is a bit more appealing to the rest of the world, somebody who comes from a bit more of a common-sense position. Thats been lost for the last eight years. In fact, I’m going to be shooting a PSA for him, a pledge — youre trying to pledge what you plan on doing to sort of better the country. Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, a bunch of people [are going] to make it. Were going to deliver it to Obama, I think, on Inauguration Day.

DENIS LEARY-Were going to be watching at work. Larenz [Tate] is going so my plan is to call him on his cell phone as often as I can that day and see if hes finagled himself into the White House or not. Were just looking for ashtrays and souvenirs that he can steal and bring back on set because he has to be back at work the next morning.

AMBER TAMBLYN-Its going to be amazing. I have friends flying to New York tomorrow, who are going to take the train down to D.C. Theyre coming from L.A. to go to it. Everyone is doing something for it.”

EDIE FALCO-”I was invited. I’d give my right arm but we’re in the middle of production, so we’re going to watch it on set.”

JIMMY FALLON-Im doing Ellen on Tuesday and then after that I guess Im just going to watch it. I guess Ill just watch it on TV but Im excited about it. Change is good.

SCOTT FOLEY-I hope to watch it if Im not working. I dont have any plans specifically for the inauguration aside from the same kind of plans I had during the election, turn the TV on and be a part of history that way.

SHIRLEY MANSON-”Hell, yeah, of course. I’ve got my Obama T-shirt ready. I’m going to wear it the whole way through. Like most of my friends and people that I know, I’m really excited about his possibilities and potential.”

SETH MacFARLANE-”Its going to be a clusterf–k, but Ill be watching. We all fought hard to make this happen. Heres my theory: Its going to take one term just to undo everything that George Bush has f–ked up. And by the way, not just George Bush but Reagan. too So I think, step one, we have to admit to ourselves we have to give Obama two terms, and we have to let the Democrats continue to undo everything thats gone wrong since the 80s. My fear is that eight years will roll by, assuming he gets elected a second term, and theyll go, Why didnt he fix everything completely? And theyll elect Sarah Palin, who will completely take the country to s–t, and if that happens, we do not deserve to be the dominant power any longer.”

I know everyone is going to want to revel in this day of history. It’s great that the world has become open-minded enough to allow an African-American President. Obama Rocks!

More Paula Abdul, “American Idol” Drama

Last week, Paula Abdul publicly lashed out at American Idol producers, FOX and Simon Cowell. Now, producer Ken Warwick is attempting to set the record straight.

“I wasn’t even aware that this person was more than a fan,” he told reporters. “That is the truth. I didn’t know. Obviously, I would never contaminate the credibility of the show by deliberately putting somebody who was dangerous either to themselves or somebody else in front of the judges. The truth of the matter is it is a really unfortunate situation, but occasionally, these things happen.”

As for reports that Paula had informed the producers of her issue with Goodspeed, Ken says, “She may have mentioned it to a security man or a junior producer. I can’t honestly remember the situation. I know we have pretty ample security there. If the inference is that I would put someone in there because it was good television, I just don’t do that. She didn’t mention it to me. She didn’t mention it to someone who had the clout to say, ‘Don’t let that person in.’”

One thing that Ken makes perfectly clear is that Paula’s job is not in jeopardy and never has been.

“There has never been any discussion that we would want to get rid of Paula — even if there were people in production who didn’t like her,” he says. “Simon [Cowell] is one of them. He waffles in and out. He likes her one minute; he loves her the next; and he can’t stand her the next. Her job is not in any jeopardy. She is an integral part of this program. America loves Paula. As far as I am concerned, I hope she is there until the day it comes off the air.”

I don’t know who to believe anymore, and at this point, who really cares?

Paula Abdul Has Finally Lost Her Ever-Loving Mind

What in the heck IS this? And where did she BUY it? Only Paula Abdul would wear an outfit encompassing a military jacket, pirate shirt, sequined leggings and a gold chain belt in public like there was nothing unusual about it at all.

Not only that, but she wore this to The Late Show With David Letterman. To be on TV. Like, broadcast around the country wearing this get-up. She is nothing if not ballsy. Or maybe she’s just drunk again.

Paula Abdul Bashes ‘American Idol’ Producers, FOX, and Simon Cowell

Paula Abdul told Barbara Walters that producers knew that Paula Goodspeed was her stalker and put her through to the auditions in front of her anyway.

The letters that were written to me were to do bodily harm,” Abdul said. “She said that the only way I will serve her purpose is when I’m up in heaven being her guardian angel.”

“I was lucky enough that all the letters would come through my fan club, my fan mail club. But come American Idol when everyone can audition, she showed up,” Abdul told Walters. “I was pre-warned by the producers ‘Wait until you see this next girl, oh my god she is crazy about you’ … [and I said] ‘This girl is a stalker of mine and please do not let her in.’”

“I explained to them through shaking that ‘I do not feel comfortable, please do not let her come into the room, this is not a normal fan,’” Abdul said. “And I even went as far as my — the guy who was doing my hair and makeup was aware, he’d been with me forever, he said ‘This girl sends naked pictures, and it’s very frightening, please do not let her in’ and they let her in anyways and I couldn’t look up.”

She also says that FOX Broadcasting pretty much gave the world open access to her home.

“Fox Broadcasting literally went to my home and gave my address away and showed my home and how easy it is to break in,” Abdul told Walters. “[After that] what Fox gave me was two weeks of allowing me to use their security.”

She also blames Simon Cowell for her weird, off the wall wackiness during judging panels.

“People don’t realize he’s in my ear saying crazy things while I’m trying to formulate something with grace and dignity,” Abdul continued. “So I try not to listen to him, but he’s saying things like ‘say the moth that binds the melon ball’ and ‘a wonton will win’ and at that moment he’s saying it over and over that I start laughing and [host Ryan Seacrest] says ‘What’s up?’”

“He claims to be that… what he is creating is great television and I said ‘Well what you’ve created is doubt in my character. You created defamation in my character and you’ve lied,’” Abdul said of Cowell. “You know I could listen to crisis publicists but the truth is the voice inside of me — I don’t have to dignify and stoop so low to that of what Simon says. If people are going to believe that — and believe me, I lost a lot of money. I lost endorsements. I’m not — and Simon, all he had to do was retract what he said, but he didn’t. He waited two years.”

If all of this is true, it’s pretty jacked up. Paula may have gotten a raw deal here.

Paula Abdul Says Stalker Attempted Suicide at her Home Before

Apparently the suicide of stalker fan, Paula Goodspeed, in front of Paula Abdul‘s home was not the first attempt.

“What people don’t know is a few months prior I was in New York and she had attempted the same thing. She [required resuscitation] apparently and they were able to… in-front of my house she was in the backseat of her car,” said Abdul. “They took her to the hospital and she survived.”

And this obsession wasn’t new… Goodspeed had been obsessed with Abdul since early in her career.

“She has been a stalker/fan for 17 years,” said Abdul of Goodspeed. “[But] it wasn’t until American Idol that she ever knew how to get to me. Prior to that, it was always through a fan club.”

Abdul added she was not home when Goodspeed apparently committed suicide. “This time around I was fortunately at the Kodak Theater doing Hollywood Week for American Idol,” she said. “The crew knew but waited until I was done taping [to tell me]. But I had some kind of feeling and premonition something was going on.”

For the record, Paula Goodspeed’s family persistently deny that she was stalking Abdul.

Kara DioGuardi’s First Day on American Idol

Kara DioGuardi, the freshly-appointed fourth American Idol judge, joined Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson in a public show of solidarity Tuesday afternoon as they entered a Chelsea Piers building on Manhattans west side for a round of season eight auditions.

Kara has a good reputation of A, having hits; and B, having an opinion. And thats a good combination, Cowell said, adding, matter-of-factly: And shes cute.

I know Kara, and she speaks her mind so she will be speaking her mind, Abdul said of DioGuardis judging technique.

Thats a nice way of saying shes bitchy, Cowell sniped, eliciting a Whooooooooah! from Jackson.

Then what are you if Im bitchy? DioGuardi said.

Sincere, Cowell responded.

Im sincere too, she said.

Cowell said they hadnt fully decided how ties will be broken in the audition process. In past seasons, two out of three judges had to agree to advance aspiring pop stars to the Hollywood round.

Cowell says that he will be sitting in between the two girls… and that Paula will have to quit talking as much so they can hear all four opinions in the tight-crunched show. Nice.
