Jessica Biel, Pharrell & Darren Aronofsky Team Up For Revlon Commercial

Revlon pulled out all the stops and brought in some big names to give the Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara a super cool commercial.

Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky casts Jessica Biel and Pharrell Williams in a glamorous black and white ad where the 38 year-old singer serenades the 29 year-old actress as she primps for the evening at her lush vanity in her boudoir.

Biel is hoping this advert gets her foot in the door for the next Aronofsky project.

“I’d love to do a film with him,” Biel told The Hollywood Reporter. “It was the beginning of our relationship.”

Aronofsky is already getting flack for selling out by making the ad, but I bet his wallet soothes any hurt feelings he might have.

Now this is quite a threesome!

Watch the video below.  (Read the article)

Happy Birthday Pharrell

Today’s birthdays include Hollywood legends Spencer Tracy, Bette Davis and Gregory Peck who are no longer with us. That’s a lot of heavyweight talent born on one day.

Happy Birthday to everyone celebrating today, April 5th, including:

1926 – Roger Corman, director
1937 – Colin Powell, former Secretary of State
1941 – Michael Moriarty, actor
1943 – Max Gail, actor
1952 – Mitch Pileggi, actor
1968 – Paula Cole, musician
1972 – Krista Allen, actress
1973 – Pharrell, musician

Julianne Moore Is Sexy For Kiehl’s

Kiehl's Earth Day 2010 campaign Julianne Moore

Saving the forests never looked quite so good. Julianne Moore turns up the heat for Kiehl’s and the Rainforest Alliance in these ads that debuted on April 22nd (Earth Day.) Photographed by David LaChappelle, producer and musician Pharrell Williams, pro surfer Malia Jones and artist Jeff Koons get into the green campaign (and look great too!) Each celeb designed packaging for the Acai Damage-Protecting Toning Mist and proceeds will go to the Rainforest Alliance.

Pharrell Williams Sits Down with Playboy

pharellplayboy

Some of us do read Playboy for the articles, and this guy…. is not one of them.  But alas, I came across a pretty good interview with the producer who’s maintained his relevancy through his style contributions (even if his N.E.R.D. career took a blow in 2008).  Pharrell Williams never stops being cool.

VIDEO PREMIERE: Teryaki Boyz feat. Pharrell & Chris Brown – “Work That”

What happens when two Virginia natives who’ve made a career history of topping charts collaborate with a Japanese streetster band? You get a combined effort in the new music video for “Work That” by The Teryaki Boyz featuring Pharrell and Chris Brown.

While this song is unlikely to make any Best of ’08 lists (ours is hitting the site TOMORROW! – I’ve been frustratedly re-numbering things all afternoon), it just might make some in the line of music videos. Ever wanted to see rows of ethnically-devoid rear ends moving to the beat of a disjointed monotonous dance track? Eccentric as it is, your wish has been granted!

Pharrell Becomes Spokesman for Bionic

It’s not as high-tech as it sounds. Quite the opposite really; Pharrell, super-producer and N.E.R.D. frontman, has entered into a contract with Bionic Yarn, a company gaining steam with its patented recycling methods that transform discarded plastic bottles into yarn and other fabric – fabric that’s able to be processed as clothing! Pretty dope, huh?

Pharrell is now part-owner, spokesman, and investor!

Pharrell & Santogold = Harmony

Presenting probably one of the best summer grooves I’ve heard in awhile, this hidden track (found only on the iTunes & UK versions of N.E.R.D.‘s phenomenal Seeing Sounds) the video for “My Drive Thru” was produced (and can be seen on) for Converse’s new summer marketing campaign. Featuring flip-book cut-outs of Pharrell, Santogold, and collaborator Julian Casablancas, the video is just as melodic as it is eye-catching.

Democratic National Convention Gets “Stronger”

Kanye West, N.E.R.D., and Wyclef Jean have been added to the performance bill, promising a more lively ceremony than previous years (any politics-nerds remember Michael McDonald’s snooze-fest?). Also in attendance will be Ed Norton (who’s shooting a documentary on Dem. candidate & future president Senator Barack Obama), Scarlett Johansson, Forest Whittaker, Warren Beatty, Annette Benning, and more. West, who’s no stranger to political gruff (“George Bush does not like black people”) and Pharrell‘s nerdy bunch has delved pretty serious into social criticism (“All the girls standing in the line for the bathroom” [referencing a rise in cocaine use among young Hollywood]). I love it.

Be sure to check back next month for pictures & video from the Denver, CO event!

Celeb Quote Of The Day: Madonna

Madonna Hard Candy

Candy Shop was the first song I wrote with Pharrell. It is one of my favourites on the record. It personifies the mood I was in while making the record lots of innuendo. You can get so many things in a candy shop!

Madonna (who evidently never heard50 Cent‘s song of the same name?) on the inspiration behind her latest album, Hard Candy. TMI, girl!
