Queen Latifah is on fire these days! Girl stars opposite Common in Just Wright (lucky!), took a turn in Valentine’s Day, and launched a fragrance last year. She just celebrated her 40th birthday and has also just released a book, Put on Your Crown: Life-Changing Moments on the Path to Queendom. Here’s some of the highlights:
On the benefits of exercise: “When my body feels good, I feel more energized and alive, and that’s sexy. I’m taking care of this body God gave me.”
On the awkward nature of doing sex scenes in Just Wright: “My character has a love scene with the character played by Common, and it’s the most intimate I’ve ever had to be on camera. I know I’m good at [kissing], and I know I feel sexy when I’m kissing, but I never had to worry about whether or not a camera angle is making me look crazy while I’m doing it. I had to put all of this private stuff on-screen, with no idea how I looked. But you know something? I got through it. … Despite my jitters, I had to get into that moment and that character and push through my inhibitions.”
On regretting not having had children: “If I ran into a 19-year-old version of myself, I’d just tell her to live, full out. I might also tell her to go ahead and have a few babies and not worry about the timing of it.”
Sadly, The Queen remains coy about her sexuality. Which is the BIG thing inquiring minds want to know about her, right? Chely Wright came out, Queen La… you can do it too!!
