2013 Golden Globe Awards: Ben Affleck, ‘Argo’ & ‘Homeland’ Take Big Wins

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association celebrated the accomplishments of the television and movie industry last night with the 2013 Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The 70th annual show was hosted by the undeniably funny and  charming duo of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Among those chosen as winners: Ben Affleck and Argo took Best Director and Best Drama for the film that captured the daring rescue of hostages in Iran during the 1970s. Affleck, who was left off the Academy Awards nominees list for Best Director, has now won two awards (the GG and the Critics’ Choice Award) for his film.

On the TV side, Showtime‘s Homeland dominated it’s categories with Best TV Show, Actress and Actor – Claire Danes and Damian Lewis earning the wins.

Other winners include Daniel Day-Lewis picked up the trophy for Best Actor in a Drama for his role in Lincoln and Zero Dark Thirty’s Jessica Chastain took the top nod for Best Actress.

Christoph Waltz, Anne Hathaway, Quentin Tarantino, Don Cheadle and Lena Dunham also walked away with wins.

Jodie Foster was also honored for her work in the entertainment industry, presented to her by her good friend Robert Downey Jr. Foster made a passionate, sometimes rambling speech about carving out privacy for herself but also officially came out of the closet as a gay woman.

Snipes is Back in ‘Brooklyn’s Finest’ Trailer

Brooklyn's Finest Poster

Here’s the first trailer for the upcoming film Brooklyn’s Finest.

This trailer certainly grabbed my attention. Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, Wesley Snipes, Ethan Hawke with director Antoine Fuqua? That’s a whole lot of talent invested in one movie. I’m very intrigued, and that’s rare for this type of movie.

Backseat Cuddler’s Ten Hot Actors Over 50

harrison-ford-indiana-jones-and-the-crystal-skull-screening

Last week, Madonna dissed men her own age, saying that they are unattractive and grumpy.  (Also “divorced.”  Look who’s talking, Madge.)

Sure, there are plenty of older guys out there who resemble her remarks.  However, there are also plenty of older stars who still got it, big time.  Here’s our list of ten hot male celebs over 50 whom we wouldn’t kick out of bed for eating crackers.

Denzel Washington (54).  Look, I know getting weak in the knees for Denzel is nearly a cliche, but that’s one good looking man.

Sir Sean Connery (79).   Diamonds Are Forever, and so is the appeal of the silver screen’s original 007.    No surprise that even at age 69 he was named the Sexiest Man of the Century.

Liam Neeson (57).  I have been a fan of his for a long time, but his turn in Love, Actually forever clinched it.  Handsome guy AND a great dad?  I melt.

Richard Gere (60).   What red-blooded girl didn’t want to be swept off her feet by him like Debra Winger in An Officer And A Gentleman?   And he still looks good.

Samuel L. Jackson (60).  Mace Windu.  That’s all I have to say.

Kevin Costner (54).  He made us “believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.”

Jimmy Smits (54).  President, Senator, lawyer, detective, and a lawyer again (in last season’s Dexter).   What can’t he do?

Dennis Quaid (55).   Although I first saw Dennis Quaid in Innerspace, I really started to appreciate him in Dragonheart (which – bonus – also featured Sean Connery!).   Then again I’m kind of a sucker for the guy who saves the day.  He also seems like a great dad IRL.

Clint Eastwood (79).  I don’t care how old Clint Eastwood is.  He is a damn handsome guy and an excellent actor and director.  Plus he could kick anyone’s ass.  What could be hotter?

Harrison Ford (67).  A perfect way to end a list that is, admittedly, fairly dominated by Star Wars alumni.    Being held by Han Solo might not have been quite enough to get Princess Leia excited, but we absolutely beg to differ.  He seriously just keeps getting better.  Harrison was very deservedly named one of Page Six’s Hottest Jewish Hunks last year!  Lucky Calista Flockhart!

Who’s your favorite actor over 50?  Comment and tell us!

amelia-21

Starring: Hilary Swank, Richard Gere, Ewan McGregor, Virginia Madsen, Christopher Eccleston, Mia Wasikowska, Joe Anderson, Aaron Abrams, Dylan Roberts, Marina Stone, William Cuddy, Duane Murray, Gord Rand, James Byron, Mark Caven, Scott Anderson, Ryann Shane, Corrine Koslo, Jeffrey Knight, James Arnold

What it’s about: A look at the life of legendary American pilot Amelia Earhart, who disappeared while flying over the Pacific Ocean in 1937 in an attempt to make a flight around the world.

Rating: Rated PG for some sensuality, language, thematic elements and smoking.

Trailer:

Release Date: October 23rd, 2009

Thoughts: This is a biopic that seems as if it should have come out a long time ago, but I’m glad it’s now since Hilary Swank is playing Amelia. I have minor fears of this movie being boring, but I’m pretty sure it will be good.

New ‘Amelia’ Poster with Hilary Swank

amelia-2

Here’s the new poster for the upcoming biopic Amelia starring Hilary Swank and Richard Gere.

This movie does seem like it should have been made 20-30 years sooner, but better late than never.

‘Amelia’ Trailer With Hillary Swank

amelia

Here’s the full theatrical trailer for the upcoming film Amelia starring Hilary Swank.

I’m amazed that there hasn’t been a major theatrical release about Amelia Earhart. This movie does look like it will be good, but I can’t say it has anywhere near the draw of a movie like The Aviator. Regardless, this is something to see with a cast like this.
