It’s A Boy For Susan & Robert Downey Jr.!

Susan and Robert Downey Jr. welcomed a baby into their lives on Tuesday.

Susan, 38, gave birth in Los Angeles to the couple’s first child, a son. The couple have named their 7 lb., 5 oz. baby boy Exton Elias Downey and he joins the Iron Man star’s 18 year-old son Indio, from his first marriage to Deborah Falconer.

“Everyone is healthy and they couldn’t be happier,” a friend of the couple tells People magazine.

Although Robert told Jay Leno in December the couple was expecting a boy, he had expressed his desire for a baby girl earlier this year:

“I think we should probably try to have a girl because I don’t want another male entity to have to compete,” he said during the Due Date promo tour in August. “I don’t want Indio to feel there’s another boy in my life.”

Although he did get another son, I imagine the actor is thrilled to have a healthy child and a beautiful newborn in his life.

‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows’ Second Trailer Is Here (VIDEO)

Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are back as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows directed by Guy Ritchie and a new trailer is now online.

The slow motion style of explosions, witty one-liners between the leads and we finally meet Professor Moriarty (played by Mad Men star Jared Harris) – Holmes’ greatest arch enemy – we’re getting quite a peek at the upcoming film.

What else is in the trailer? Rachel McAdams, looking stunning of course, the original Girl with The Dragon Tattoo, Swedish actress Noomi Rapace and Downey Jr. in drag – not his best disguise, as Sherlock quips.

Robert Downey Jr: It’s Time For Hollywood To Forgive Mel Gibson

Robert Downey Jr. was honored at the 25th Cinematheque Award gala in Beverly Hills over the weekend and the star took time out to give a tribute to his friend, actor Mel Gibson.

Downey Jr., who came to the ceremony with his wife Susan, was able to choose who he wanted to present the award and he opted for Mel, the man who insured him back in 2003 when, after his own very public addiction issues and arrests, wasn’t able to work in the industry he loved.

The Iron Man actor made it clear he feels the time has come for Hollywood to forgive Gibson for his anti-Semitic rants and spousal abuse and to let him get on with his career.

““I asked Mel to present this award for me for a reason,” Downey said during his acceptance speech. “When I couldn’t get sober, he told me not to give up hope and encouraged me to find my faith. It didn’t have to be his or anyone else’s as long as it was rooted in forgiveness. And I couldn’t get hired, so he cast me in the lead of a movie that was actually developed for him. He kept a roof over my head and food on the table and most importantly he said if I accepted responsibility for my wrongdoing and embraced that part of my soul that was ugly – hugging the cactus he calls it — he said that if I hugged the cactus long enough, I’d become a man.”

Downey Jr. went on to say that Hollywood shouldn’t throw stones and offer Gibson a “clean slate.”

WATCH: ‘The Avengers’ First Trailer!

Gather together all the costumed heroes you can find and put them in one movie – that’s The Avengers.

Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evan have a bit of a snark-off, Samuel L. Jackson is a badass, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo are damn sexy and Scarlett Johansson looks flawless – yep, that’s about right.

The trailer has too many characters to focus on (even ditching some and quieting Renner completely) and tries to give us a preview of the action in too short of a time to really allow the viewer any true sense of the movie’s tone.

It’s simply too short for a movie that has so many interesting and wonderful actors and plot lines.

It’s still early – the release date is May 4, 2012 – and the director is Joss Whedon so I will give it a chance.

So much star power (cool) and so much of it seen before (not so cool).

What do you think? Is this trailer kinda disappointing? Or all sorts of awesome?

The couple are expecting their first child together, who will arrive in February of next year!

“Robert and Susan could not be more excited over this news,” his rep tells People. “They can’t wait to welcome this new baby into their wonderful family.”

Downey Jr. also said his wish was for a girl.

“I think we should probably try to have a girl because I don’t want another male entity to have to compete,” he said during the Due Date promo tour. “I don’t want Indio to feel there’s another boy in my life.”

Robert, 46, and Susan, 37, met on the set of the film Gothika and were married in 2005. He has a 17 year-old son, Indio, with his ex-wife Deborah Falconer.

Robert Downey Jr. Says Chris Evans Is The Right Man For ‘Captain America’

Robert Downey Jr. made his way down the red, white and blue carpet for the premiere of Captain America: The First Avenger in Hollywood on Tuesday at the El Capitan Theatre.

The 46 year-old actor who will reprise his role as Iron Man in the upcoming film The Avengers, had lots of praise for actor Chris Evans, who takes on the title role of Captain America. Downey and Evans costar in The Avengers and he said Evans set the right vibe for the film.

“He’s really sharp, he’s really fun and he’s created, I think, just the right tone for Steve Rogers. I mean Captain America is the original gangster of the Marvel universe,” Downey continued. “So I think Avengers doesn’t really work unless he works, so I tip my hat to him.”

The Avengers is busy filming in New Mexico and is super-powered by not only Evans and Downey Jr., but Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth all join in to bring the larger-than-life comic book characters to life.

Robert Downey Jr. Has ‘Inherent Vice’?

Robert Downey Jr. is likely to star in the upcoming book-to-movie adaptation Inherent Vice.

…word is Robert Downey Jr is eyeing Inherent Vice, an adaptation of the Thomas Pynchon mystery novel. Downey would play Larry “Doc” Sportello, a private eye based in Los Angeles in the late 1960s. He’s a believer in the psychedelic free-love era, and his case involves an ex-girlfriend, her real estate billionaire boyfriend and a kidnapping.

Robert Downey Jr. as a 1960s private investigator? Sign me up! I haven’t read the book but it sounds like a cool concept. The character sounds like one that Downey Jr. will probably pull off brilliantly. Hopefully he takes the part.
