Robert Downey Jr At Coachella 2011

Robert Downey Jr., spent some time in the sun over the weekend for the 2011 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA.

The Iron Man actor kept it casual in a fuschia tee with light gray pants and white hat, trying to stay cool while temps hit the high 90s.

Downey is set to take his Tony Stark character into the new Avengers movie with Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Chris Evans bringing Captain America to the film of the comic book legends.

More Robert pics are under. (Read the article)

Robert Downey Jr. Has ‘Inherent Vice’?

Robert Downey Jr. is likely to star in the upcoming book-to-movie adaptation Inherent Vice.

…word is Robert Downey Jr is eyeing Inherent Vice, an adaptation of the Thomas Pynchon mystery novel. Downey would play Larry “Doc” Sportello, a private eye based in Los Angeles in the late 1960s. He’s a believer in the psychedelic free-love era, and his case involves an ex-girlfriend, her real estate billionaire boyfriend and a kidnapping.

Robert Downey Jr. as a 1960s private investigator? Sign me up! I haven’t read the book but it sounds like a cool concept. The character sounds like one that Downey Jr. will probably pull off brilliantly. Hopefully he takes the part.

First Look: ‘Mr. Peabody and Sherman’ Concept Art (Image)

Here’s the first concept art from the upcoming 3D animated feature Mr. Peabody and Sherman featuring the voice of Robert Downey Jr. as Mr. Peabody.

Just announced is Peabody and Sherman, which will feature Robert Downey, Jr. providing the voice of the brilliant scientist and talking dog Mr. Peabody, originally introduced on The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show.

I used to love these cartoons! Time travel with a super-intelligent dog and his pet human?! How can you go wrong? I’m sure Robert Downey Jr. will bring a lot to it. I just hope they put together a movie that appeals to fans of the old Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends. It’s unfortunate that the same writer who did Yogi Bear is writing it.

Gwyneth Paltrow Enlists Robert Downey Jr’s Help Playing An Addict

The destructive behavior of an addict who leaves treatment too soon can shatter so many lives around that person. For her role in Country Strong, Gwyneth Paltrow plays Kelly, a country singer who gets out of rehab far too early, loses her sobriety and causes a lot of pain for those around her.

Paltrow says she had trouble understanding how a person gets to that point, wrecking others lives and going on as if nothing happened, so she called on her good friend, Robert Downey Jr. to give her some help. Downey’s troubles with substance abuse have been legendary over the years and the Iron Man actor was the perfect person to help Paltrow get to the heart and mind of an addict.

The actress said:

“…Then it was really when I got there and I had this scene, it’s sort of trimmed down a lot in the movie, but the night after I’ve done some horrific thing, I’ve wrecked people’s lives and I wake up and expect to just keep on going. I didn’t understand that. I understand addiction. I used to be very addicted to cigarettes for example, so I understood the idea of I know this is bad for me and it causes cancer and my dad has throat cancer but I’m going to smoke it anyway, that disconnect or self destructiveness. I couldn’t understand it to the point of wrecking someone else’s life. So I e-mailed Robert Downey Jr. and I was like, “Just explain to me how this goes. I don’t get it. You spend a night where you lie and cheat and there’s no consequence and you barf and you can kill someone. Then you get up and have a coffee? How does that work?” He wrote me back the most amazing e-mail and he just explained the psychology of it so well. So he really helped me with that.”

Paltrow’s performance, along with costars Garrett Hedlund, Leighton Meester and Tim McGraw opens in limited release today (Dec 22nd) and goes to more screens in January.

First ‘Due Date’ Trailer With Downey Jr. and Galifianakis

Here’s the first trailer for the upcoming Todd Philips (The Hangover, Old School) comedy starring Robert Downey Jr., Zach Galifianakis and Jamie Foxx.

While the trailer didn’t have me rolling, I have a lot of faith that this one will be hilarious. All that comedic talent in one place is bound to bring us a lot of laughs.

Daniel Craig Replaces Robert Downey Jr. in ‘Cowboys and Aliens’

Daniel CraigCowboys & Aliens

Daniel Craig has stepped into the role Robert Downey Jr. was set to play in the upcoming comic book film Cowboys and Aliens.

Daniel Craig has closed his deal to star in Cowboys and Aliens for DreamWorks and Universal, as I predicted. Craig will star in an adaptation of Fred Van Lente’s graphic novel that was published by Platinum Studios and revolves around cowboys and Native Americans who put aside their Old West differences to battle invading aliens. Craig will play the lead cowboy Zeke Jackson, replacing Robert Downey Jr who exited to jump right back to the Sherlock Holmes sequel.

Craig is a good fit for the role. And even though we know Robert Downey Jr. and director Jon Favreau have worked well together in the past, it will be a nice change of pace for Craig from the  Bond films.

Stark is Ready to Race in Brand New ‘Iron Man 2′ Image

Iron Man 2 Still

Here’s a brand new official still that was released today from the upcoming film Iron Man 2.

This movie is bound to be a huge hit this summer, I can’t wait to see it. I wish they would release some images from scenes we haven’t seen in stills yet, perhaps something with War Machine?

Does Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark Goatee at Golden Globes Mean ‘Thor’ Cameo?

Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. was sporting the Tony Stark goatee at Sunday night’s Golden Globe awards, and supposedly Iron Man 2 has been long finished with shooting. Rumors are bubbling up that Tony Stark may be in Thor, which is shooting now!

A number of sources tell me that there will be additional shooting for Iron Man 2, although Paramount denied this to me when contacted last night. Tonight Jon Favreau tweeted this: ‘Began “locking reels” today. It’s the beginning of the home stretch on IM2.’ That means he’s finished specific reels of the film in editing, and that they’re ready to go (although they probably still need mixing and FX and whatever).

Which means there are two possibilities: one is that there are upcoming shoots for Iron Man 2, but that they’re for specific parts of the movie and that Favreau is editing around them. The denial I received may have been a very standard thing, since studios never like admitting they’re doing reshoots. I’ve explained it before but it bears repeating: reshoots can be a vital part of the process, especially after editing reveals the nature and shape of a movie. Lots of films change or really come together in editing, and a director needs to be able to go back out and pick up new shots or scenes to fill in the gaps. That’s very normal, and as far as I’m concerned, nothing to be worried about. In fact, it’s probably a good sign.*

The second possibility is the one that has your geeky mouth watering: Downey is gearing up for some kind of Thor cameo. That movie is filming right now, and it’s the penultimate film beforeThe Avengers, so a Stark cameo makes a whole ton of sense. In fact, we just learned that Clark Gregg, who plays SHIELD agent Coulson, will be in the movie, so there’s lots of room for Tony Stark to show up.

It would totally make sense that they would do reshoots for Iron Man 2 now, with the film nearing completion. There are still months before it’s released. I hope it’s both reshoots and a cameo, Downey Jr.‘s Tony Stark is a really great character.
