Anne Hathaway Joining ‘Les Misérables’ With Hugh Jackman

Tom Hooper is putting together an incredible cast for his upcoming take on Les Misérables.

The Oscar-winning director for The King’s Speech has landed Anne Hathaway to play Fantine in the movie adaptation based on the award-winning Broadway musical and Victor Hugo‘s novel.

Hathaway joins already signed Russell Crowe (Inspector Javert) and Hugh Jackman (Jean Valjean) for the film, which may also nab Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter.

The movie may be shot in 3D and will start production in March. The projected released date is December of 2012.

Hathaway is Catwoman in the next Batman film from director Christopher Nolan. The Dark Knight Rises, starring Christian Bale, Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt will arrive in theaters on July 20, 2012.

Olivia Wilde Cast In ‘Rush’ – Will Russell Crowe Play Richard Burton In The Film?

Olivia Wilde joins the Formula 1 racing pic Rush as supermodel Suzy Miller.

The 27 year-old actress stars opposite Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl with the possibility of Russell Crowe joining the flick as legendary actor Richard Burton.

The official synopsis: Set against the 1970′s golden age of Formula 1 racing, “Rush” portrays the fast-paced and exhilarating true story of two of the greatest rivalries the sport has ever witnessed – that of James Hunt (Hemsworth) and Niki Lauda (Brühl) and their illustrious Formula 1 racing teams, McLaren and Ferrari. A privileged, charismatic and handsome English playboy, Hunt could not be more different from his reserved and methodical opponent, Austrian born Lauda. “Rush” follows their personal lives both on and off the track and charts their rivalry from its inception in Formula 3. Here they competed viciously against each other until Lauda’s business acumen and surgeon like precision behind the wheel propelled him all the way to Formula 1; eventually landing him the number one spot at Ferrari. However it was not long before rambunctious golden boy Hunt fought his way into Formula 1, and into the hearts of a nation, dramatically seizing the championship from Lauda and proving to the critics, and more importantly himself, that there was real substance beneath the stylish exterior.

Wilde’s role as Miller will find her in love with and married to Hunt when she meets his friend, actor Richard Burton. Burton and Miller fall in love and the actor infamously paid Hunt $1 million as a divorce settlement that Miller owed. Crowe has not signed on but is reportedly the actor wanted for the part of Burton.

Directed by Ron Howard with a script from Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, The Queen) filming began in early September in the UK and Germany.

Russell Crowe Takes On The Circumcision Debate On Twitter

Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe set off a twitter firestorm as he let loose on the practice of male circumcision.

“Circumcision is barbaric and stupid. Who are you to correct nature? Is it real that GOD requires a donation of foreskin? Babies are perfect,” the actor began.

The 47 year-old persisted with his views as he was both denounced and praised for broaching the hot-button topic.

“Many Jewish friends, I love my Jewish friends, I love the apples and the honey and the funny little hats but stop cutting yr babies,” Crowe added.

“I will always stand for the perfection of babies, I will always believe in God, not man’s interpretation of what God requires.”

“Last of it, if u feel it is yr right 2 cut things off yr babies please unfollow and f— off, I’ll take attentive parenting over barbarism.”

Full ‘Robin Hood’ Trailer is a Bit Bland

Robin Hood Poster

Here’s the trailer for the upcoming Ridley Scott film Robin Hood.

Is it just me or does this movie look like a hybrid of Gladiator and Braveheart? I can’t say I’m excited about this one, it looks a bit bland visually.

First ‘Robin Hood’ Poster is as General as it Gets

Robin Hood Poster

Here’s the first poster for the upcoming Robin Hood from director Ridley Scott starring Russell Crowe.

This is about as basic as a poster about Robin Hood could be, I was hoping they might spice things up a bit instead of simply having him nock and arrow.

First ‘Robin Hood’ Trailer Fails to Excite

Robin Hood Image

Here’s the very first trailer for the upcoming film Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe.

Ok, so if the commentary and titles didn’t tell me this was a movie about Robin Hood I would have never guessed it from the visuals. This looks so much like Gladiator it’s a little strange, I hope this script is really good but the trailer looks pretty bland. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing this, I’m just not as excited as I would like to be.

Elizabeth Banks is in final negotiations to star in the upcoming film Next Three Days opposite Russell Crowe

Haggis is directing, writing and producing “Next Three Days,” which centers on an ordinary couple who find themselves in an unthinkable situation and have to make desperate choices that will test the limits of love. Haggis and Michael Nozik will produce “The Next Three Days” through their production entity Highway 61 Films, along withMarc Missonnier and Olivier Delbosc of Fidelite Films.

This is a nice big step up for Elizabeth Banks, she’s very talented. Sounds like the movie will be pretty intriguing, hopefully the “unthinkable situation” is really out there.

Russell Crowe Has ‘Three Days’

russellcroweoct05

Russell Crowe is ready to star in the upcoming film Three Days from director Paul Haggis.

Haggis, who made his Oscar-winning “Crash” at the studio, is writing, directing and producing the remake of the French thriller “Pour Elle.” It tells the story of a married couple thrown into a harrowing situation when the wife is imprisoned for a murder she claims she didn’t commit and the husband must devise a way to get her out.

Sounds like it might be a good flick. Russell Crowe is a good actor, but I’m not a big fan but I’m sure he’ll bring the character to life as well as he usually does.

Looks pretty standard period stuff. It’s all about the quality of the script with this one. Hopefully it’s not all just action.
