The fiercely funny Sofia Vergara is going to take a shot at Saturday Night Live‘s hosting gig on April 7th.

This will be the Emmy-nominated Vergara’s first crack as host.

The Modern Family star and Pepsi and CoverGirl spokesmodel will take the lead at Studio 8H with musical guest One Direction.

The British tween boy-band who appeared on the UK’s X Factor, is another first-time appearance for SNL.

Lindsay Lohan‘s return to SNL is coming your way this week and the network has released the promo for Saturday’s show.

Lohan and Saturday cast member Kenan Thompson share a back-and-forth segment about the tabloid obsession with the actress’ off-screen antics.

“People have probably been wondering what I’ve been up to,” she tells Thompson.

“It’s unfortunate that everyone’s paid so little attention to you over the last few years,” he says.

“I know, if only magazines and websites could’ve documented my activities more closely,” Lohan replies.

There is a reference to Lindsanity! and a cream-pie-in-the-face joke.

Tune in to Saturday Night Live on March 3rd to see if Lohan’s still got the goods.

Last year fan favorite Tina Fey returned to Saturday Night Live as host, this year the show is getting another popular alum: Jimmy Fallon.

“I’ve never forgotten where I came from,” the “Late Night” host said in a press release. “That’s why I’m so incredibly honored to be hosting the ‘Saturday Night Times’ program Dec. 17th on HGTV.”

Fallon was a member of the SNL cast for six years from 1998 – 2004. Fey, Amy Poehler, Will Ferrell, Tracey Morgan and Maya Rudolph were just some of the regular cast during Fallon’s time.

Fallon tweeted about his return: “I’m incredibly honored to be heading back to 8H where it all started. And by ‘it’ I mean Will Ferrell’s awesome movie career.”

Fallon’s SNL return is December 17th with musical guest Michael Bublé.

Justin Timberlake has been tapped as the host for Saturday Night Live’s season finale.

The info came on twitter to a follower who commented that Tina Fey’s appearance for May 7th was the last known host for the show and wondered if she was the season finale.

The response: “Nope! We have Timberlake after that!”

JT’s host date (and season finale) is May 21st.

Miley Cyrus is this week’s host for Saturday Night Live.

The teenager is working on making the transition from Disney kid star to big screen actress and hopes to show off her skills on SNL, Saturday, March 5th.

Musical guest is The Strokes.

Lindsay Lohan made a great appearance at the 2010 MTV VMAs on Sunday night with Chelsea Handler.  She handled herself really well, making fun of being drunk, etc.  I thought it was great.  Next step in her comeback plan?  How about hosting Saturday Night Live?

Killer 2010 SNL Season Premiere Lands Amy Poehler and Katy Perry

Nothing is sealed as of yet and SNL won’t comment until the ink has dried.  But sources have told M&C that,

“Both parties hope to make it happen.”

The tentative date is December 4th.  If all of this works out, it will be LiLo’s third time hosting SNL.  May 2004 and April 2006 were her first two appearances.  So, yeah… she’s way past due for another spot.

I personally hope that it’s a done deal.  I have been pulling for Lindsay all along and I want the best for her.  She’s so young and has loads of potential.  Time for for her to quit wasting it away.

SNL’s Fred Armisen and Abby Elliott are dating.  It’s only been like five seconds since we found out that Fred and his his soon to be ex-wife, Elisabeth Moss were ending their 10 month marriage.  Geesh!

Source close to the new couple told L&S,

“They’ve known each other for a few years from being on SNL together but after the split, Fred sought comfort in Abby. They just started dating a few months ago. “Fred and Abby are getting to know each other in a romantic way and taking things slowly. But they’re enjoying each other’s company. It’s early days.”

Fred is 43 and  Abby is 23.  I think that since she’s still a rookie to SNL, she’s trying to get “in” any way she can.  I mean really?  Fred Armisen?!
