The judges table for the second season of X Factor is finally taking shape as Demi Lovato will grab a seat when the competition begins again this fall.

The 19 year-old Disney singer joins Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and Britney Spears (the Spears announcement – which qualifies as one of the worst kept secrets ever – will be officially revealed later today.

Lovato and Spears will replace ousted judges Cheryl Cole, Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul who were all let go after the first season which didn’t live up to the hype as far as ratings were concerned.

Both women have dealt with (and publicly shared) their personal struggles and will bring an injection of youthful viewers to the show FOX is looking for.

No word on how much Lovato is set to make handing out praise and criticism, but Spears deal is for a reported $15 million.

It’s almost a done deal for Britney Spears to take a place at the judges table on the second season of The X Factor.

Simon Cowell has been working hard to revamp and retool the show for it’s sophomore run after a lukewarm reception in it’s initial U.S. season.

After ditching Cheryl Cole during the auditions and later firing Paula Abdul and Nicole Schrezinger as the show closed it’s first run, Cowell and producers need to bring name recognition and interest in those empty seats.

Spears would be perfect and is reported to be very close to inking a $15 million deal to judge the contestants.

“We’re told Britney’s team and X Factor big wigs are working out ‘the fine points’ of the deal, but the major terms are locked,” reports TMZ.

Once the smaller details are agreed upon, the singer must get approval from her father and conservator, Jamie Spears, as well as the supervising judge. The site states that the deal is a “virtual certainty.”

Cowell, who confirmed to the site that he does want her and is eager to sign her, also said an official announcement would come later in the week.

Paula Abdul is back with Simon Cowell for his U.S. version of the British hit The X-Factor.

Cowell had one last judges seat to fill and Abdul (who is finally confirmed) will take her place at the table with Cowell, music producer Antonio “LA” Reid and singer Cheryl Cole.

Former Pussycat Dolls lead Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones are co-hosting the new reality singing competition and at stake for the winner is a $5 million contract, among other prizes.

With all the judging/hosting talent in place, the first taping took place on Sunday, May 8th in downtown Los Angeles.

One more seat has been filled.

Simon Cowell has chosen the beautiful Cheryl Cole to join him stateside on the American version of The X-Factor.

Cole, 27, will join Cowell and Antonio “LA“ Reid for the talent competition.

The Girls Aloud singer said “I’m so excited to be taking part in the American version of The X Factor. I absolutely love it here in the UK and with the talent they have out in America, I’m sure we’re going to find someone very special. I can’t wait to get started.”

Cowell praised Cole and welcomed her to the judges table.

“I’m thrilled for Cheryl. She is massively excited about this show, and has been fantastic to work with,” said Cowell. “She is also a complete brat. Most importantly, this girl can spot talent.”

The FOX TV show begins production on Friday with one judges’ seat left to be filled. One more announcement to go…

So I’ve got to admit I’m writing this mostly because it’s kind of a novelty story… Simon Cowell‘s ex-girlfriend Sinitta has posed stark naked in the UK’s Now magazine.

Who is this chick?  She was a big pop star in the 1980s in the UK.  She was the first act Simon ever signed.   She’s also pretty hot.  Now his fiance, Mezhgan Hussainy, is also quite a dish, but I thought he was able to get girls like that currently because he is, you know, rich and famous.  Back then, he wasn’t either, really, so I guess he had it going on.  That, or Sinitta was grateful that Simon made her a star.

The other noteworthy thing about this photo is that it recreates a famous photo from the 1960s.  Christine Keeler was a model and showgirl at the center of the Profumo Affair.  She carried on simultaneous affairs with a British cabinet member, John Profumo, and a Russian military muckety-muck.  This scandal apparently brought down the current Prime Minister’s administration.

So see, you came here for a naked picture and you got a history lesson.  Who says celebrity gossip is all fluff?

Simon Cowell is organizing a celebrity-filled song to benefit those affected by the January 12 earthquake in Haiti. So far Simon has gotten Susan Boyle and Leona Lewis committed to the project.

“We are going to do a single. I want to do something for Haiti, and we had a request from the Prime Minister to put a record together,” says Simon. “I’ve got to get it together in 48 hours. It’s not the best timing, but I will make it happen.”

That is such a great idea and I think it’s going to be a hit.  Everyone wants to help Haiti in any possible way they can.  Way to go Simon!  Can’t wait to hear the song!

As I posted before, Simon Cowell will be leaving American Idol after this season to get his X Factor over here in the States.  This leaves everyone asking, who will be his replacement?  Paula Abdul has already been replaced by Ellen Degeneres.  So who be a good match for her?

Bookmaker.com has already posted a line for those who want to wager on Simon’s replacement judge.  Piers Morgan is the favorite at odds of 2-1 (bet $1, win $2), followed by Sean “Diddy” Combs at 3-1, Quincy Jones at 3½-1, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds at 4-1, Simon Fuller at 6-1, Rob Stevenson at 6-1 and Russell Simmons at 6½-1.

Simon Cowell got to see something new on his X-Factor show when a 50 year old contestant, Steve nervously took the stage and sang his heart out while the crowd and judges laughed at his bulging pants.  Yes, the guy had an erection while singing on stage.

How does that happen?  Isn’t your ‘stuff’ supposed to run away when you’re nervous or scared?  Too funny.
