Billy Bell didn’t get to complete his time on So You Think You Can Dance since he came down with a sudden illness.  Since he was in the top 20, he would normally not be allowed to compete on the show again. But, thankfully Fox and the show’s producers are cutting Billy Bell a break,

Nigel Lythgoe explained last night that the show’s producers and Fox “have agreed that Billy Bell can join the competition at the top 100 in Vegas next season, and they’ve also agreed that Brandon can re-apply for this show. I think that’s very fair.”

Wow, that’s fair for Billy Bell but not so much for Brandon Dumlao. He will have to start from scratch!  But then again, he didn’t make the top 20 cut in the first place….

Well, that was ridiculous.  This week we got to see Brandon Dumlao get back into the competition on So You Think You Can Dance.  But, that was short lived, VERY short lived.

Brandon made it back on the show since Billy Bell had to leave due to illness(details here).  Brandon was quickly eliminated after spending only a day and a half in the top 20.  Poor guy.  Talk about having your hopes dashed…again.

There is a bright side to the story though. Normally any contestant that makes it to the top 20 isn’t allowed to be on the show ever again.  But, since these were special circumstances, Nigel says they will give Brandon the hook up for next season,

“I’m going to ask [Fox] if we can change the rules under the circumstances to let you come back into the competition next season.”

So that is good!  I am sure we will see a lot more of Brandon Dumlao in the future.

Also eliminated was Ariana Debose.  This is just the way the cookie crumbles.  Who is your fave so far?  Drop a comment below….

So You Think You Can Dance has just lost one of their great competitors due to an illness.  19 year old, contemporary dancer, Billy Bell will be missed on the show by everyone.  Nigel Lythgoe gave a press release,

“We are disappointed that Billy cannot continue dancing in the competition on the advice of his doctor and wish him a speedy recovery. However, we are fortunate that Brandon Dumlao has agreed to return.”

Sorry to see you go, Billy.  Get well soon!  Welcome to the show, Brandon!

It’s time once again for the competition to heat up on So You Think You Can Dance.  The top 20 this season are an amazing group that have already set the bar very high.  In the mix we’ve got 3 tappers, 3 hip-hop dancers and bunch of contemporary dancers.

Monday night you can see the 20 finalists compete as couples on FOX and then on Tuesday night 2 will be eliminated on the 2-hour special.

As I reported yesterday, Alex Da Silva from So You Think You Can Dance is facing 8 felony counts of assault for raping 4 women.  Here is a twisted video of Da Silva mocking what he has done.

From Broadway to prime time, Katie Holmes is making the most of her celeb status. Her newest gig will be a performance (already taped) on the season finale of So You Think You Can Dance airing August 6.

“It taped last week,” says the on-set source. “It’s going to be on the finale. It’s a Broadway does Hollywood number. It opens on a Broadway stage and then she walks into a Hollywood studio.”… “She was amazing. She was such a pro. Her legs are in great shape. She’s got a hat and a cane and she’s wearing a leotard and tights,” the source adds.

Well good for you, Mrs. Tom Cruise. Way to break out and finally make a name for yourself apart from your crazy husband.

The source also added that she had been rehearsing dance for over a year… That’s great, but the dancers who actually are on the show week in and week out have done it most of their lives.

This is one performance I can’t wait to see. Will it be a masterpiece or a train wreck?

My favorite show on television is giving me a double dose in 2009! So You Think You Can Dance has announced that in addition to it’s usual summer season, they will also be airing a fall season in primetime this year!

Fox has scheduled two-hour So You Think You Can Dance sixth-season performance episodes to air in the Tuesdays at 8PM ET/PT timeslot — which will presumably overlap with Dancing with the Stars ninth-season results show broadcasts, assuming ABC keeps the show in its long-running Tuesdays at 9PM ET/PT timeslot this fall.

So You Think You Can Dance sixth-season results shows will then air in the Wednesdays at 8PM ET/PT and serve as the lead-in for Glee, a new scripted musical comedy.

The fifth season is slated to debut May 21! I cannot wait!!!!! Last season, two hip-hop street dancers with hardly any formal training took home the top two spots. I wonder who will bring the heat this year… I don’t have to wait long!!!!!

Turns out that Joshua Allen (the hip-hop dancer who won this season of So You Think You Can Dance) really dreams of being a singer. Why didn’t he audition for American Idol then?

Allen told The Fresno Bee this week that his dream profession might be behind a microphone, as opposed to on the dance floor.

�Overall, I want to be a recording artist. I want to be a singer,� Allen said. �I still want to push my dancing career. And I believe if you want to be a good dancer, you have to be well-rounded. You really have to know your stuff. At an audition, they might want a hip-hop dancer who can do pirouettes.”

So he wants to be a singer and a dancer who can throw down some killer pirouettes? Interesting.

Two days before Joshua Allen was scheduled to leave for the So You Think You Can Dance top 20, his young 13-year-old cousin, Danny, was shot and killed during an altercation over an iPod.

“I wasn�t going to go on the show,” Allen recently told The Star Telegram, a local newspaper in Forth Worth, Texas. “I told my mom, ‘I just can�t, I just can�t�.�

However, the finalist’s family convinced him that Danny would have wanted him to go on with his life. With that advice, Josh set out for LA to accomplish his dream, ultimately winning the entire competition.

“So You Think You Can Dance has opened so many doors for me,” he said, adding that he hopes to open a dance studio in the future. “I hope to go to bigger and better things.

For the first time ever, all thirteen teams must prepare two routines for the first week of competition, one of which they’ll perform on Monday night. The judges will score the performances on Monday while the viewers cast their votes for their favorites. Only twelve will have the chance to showcase their second dance on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 (9:00-10:0 p.m., ET). In dramatic style on Tuesday’s show, one couple will be eliminated as the remaining contestants perform their second dance of the season. The judges will score the dances on Tuesday and the viewers will once again cast their votes before a second duo is dismissed WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET).

Here are some of the more exciting couplings…

In news that I am VERY excited about, So You Think You Can Dance Season 3 finalist Lacey Schwimmer will be joining the cast of professional dancers and will be partnered with Lance Bass. Derek Hough’s girlfriend and former dance partner, Shannon Elizabeth, was probably upset when she heard he would be paired with uber hottie Brooke Burke. A couple that I anticipate a lot of passion from is chef Rocco Dispirito and Karina Smirnoff. She has a history of hooking up with her partners. Will it happen again? Former fastest man in the world, Maurice Green, will be with two time champion Cheryl Burke.

Kim Kardashian, reality TV hottie and girlfriend of NFL star Reggie Bush, will be dancing with defending champ Mark Ballas, whose father is also joining the professional dance crew. Julianne Hough will be the older woman for the first time in four seasons as she dances with Hannah Montana star Cody Linley. Two time Olympic gold-medalist Misty May-Treanor now joins a new teammate, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who returns for his fifth season. Those are two strong-minded people, which makes for great television.
