Cute New ‘Despicable Me’ Poster is Inexplicable

Despicable Me Poster 2

Here’s the newest poster for next summer’s animated comedy Despicable Me.

I don’t know what’s going on in this poster, but it’s cute. The movie is also something that hasn’t got a clear plot laid out, but Steve Carell and a lot of other comics are lending their voices. Hopefully that factor will equal funny!

Funny New ‘Date Night’ Poster/Trailer with Steve Carrell and Tina Fey

Date Night Poster

Here’s the new poster and trailer for the upcoming action comedy Date Night with Steve Carrell and Tina Fey.

This does look pretty funny, I love Tina Fey! Steve Carrell is funny, but he really only does one character, I can’t help but see him as Michael Scott from The Office any time he speaks.

Much Better ‘Despicable Me’ Trailer

Despicable Me Title

Here’s the new trailer for the upcoming animated comedy Despicable Me.

Much better than the first version of the trailer, at least this time there is an indication as to what the story is about. This trailer reminds me of Spy Vs. Spy, but I hope there is more to it than that simple concept. The cast is certainly promising but I’m not excited.

Steve Carell to Star in ‘Missing Links’ Golf Comedy

stevecarellgolf

Steve Carell is being set up to star in a new golf comedy called Missing Links.

The studio has acquired “Missing Links,” a golf comedy based on a novel from ESPN’s Rick Reilly, with Carell loosely attached to star as a golfer angling for a better place to play.

“The Break-Up” scribe Jay Lavender is writing the screenplay. Greg Silverman will oversee for Warners.

Reilly’s 1997 comedic novel tells of the group of bumblers who, after playing for years at a run-down municipal golf course in a working-class Boston neighborhood, concoct a series of schemes that they hope will lead to them teeing off at a nearby elite club.

The WME-repped Carell is next up on the big screen in the romantic-comedy “Date Night” and is also on board for the sequel of “Get Smart.” He has turned overconfident, deluded characters into a specialty both with his Michael Scott role on “The Office” and in development projects like “Brigadier Gerard.”

This sounds like it could be a lot of fun. Carell manages to make a lot of things funnier than they would be otherwise. He’s going to stay busy for a long time to come.

Ron Livingston Joins Steve Carell in ‘Dinner for Schmucks’

ron-livingtonsteve_carrell

Office Space star Ron Livingston is set to join The Office star Steve Carell in the upcoming comedy Dinner for Schmucks.

Ron Livingston has joined the table for the Jay Roach-helmed comedy “Dinner for Schmucks.”The film, which stars Steve Carell and Paul Rudd, is being co-financed by DreamWorks, Spyglass and Paramount.

Pic is an adaptation of the Francis Veber-helmed French film “Le dinner de cons,” in which a group of bourgeois friends regularly invite the biggest schmucks to dinner to ridicule them. Livingston’s recent credits include New Line’s “The Time Traveler’s Wife” and the indie “Holly.”

I’ve liked Ron Livingston since Office Space. The combination of these actors is bound to bring us a lot of laughs. I’m looking forward to seeing more on this one.

James Franco and Mark Wahlberg Join Steve Carrell in ‘Date Night’

james_francomark-wahlberg-sgg-053091

Franco and Wahlberg have signed on for the new comedy Date Night with Steve Carrell and Tina Fey.

Wahlberg plays a successful and crazily buff securities expert who flirts with Fey’s character. Franco portrays a not-too-bright conman and petty criminal. Meester is onboard as the couple’s babysitter. Henson plays the one good cop who believes the couple is in danger, and Common portrays a villain. Wiig, who worked with Fey on “Saturday Night Live,” rounds out the cast as the actress’ best friend.

Sounds like a lot of fun, this is a great cast. It’s really not surprising that big stars are signing on for smaller roles when Carrell and Fey are the main characters, who wouldn’t want to work with them?

Steve Carell Pumps Testosterone in ‘Hi-T’

Carell, Steve

Steve Carell‘s production company is making a new movie called Hi-T that he’ll most likely star in.

The banner is producing the comedy about masculinity for Warners, where Carousel has a deal, as a potential starring vehicle for Carell. Kim Barker, who penned Robin Williams’ marriage comedy “License to Wed,” will pen the screenplay.

The project, which was set up under a slightly different name at New Line four years ago, centers on a man who begins taking testosterone injections after an injury leaves him deprived of the chemical, only to find his moods swing uncontrollably.

Sounds pretty funny, Carell will be kooky as always.

Dwayne Johnson Talks ‘Get Smart 2′ and ‘Shazam!’

Soon we may very well see a sequel to the hit movie, Get Smart starring Steve Carell and Dwayne Johnson. Or even Shazam!

Talking about “Get Smart”: Is Agent 23 (Dwayne’s character in the movie) really dead?

Johnson: [laughs] er… actually… no. If there’s a “Get Smart 2″, there’s a great possibility that Agent 23 would come back.

And talking about another project with Peter Segal, how’s “Shazam!” doing?

Johnson: It’s doing good. We’re just waiting for the draft to come in. I’m not too sure where that is right now. [because] I haven’t had the opportunity to speak with Pete about that in some time in a couple of months. You know, that’s the character that I loved the idea of playing, not necessarily Shazam!, but Black Adam. I was very excited about that.Much like a lot of material in Hollywood, it will go round and round and I’m sure it will find its way back to us. And I’m sure one day if it all fits perfectly, then we’ll do.

Dwayne isn’t really going for the oscar performances in his career, but you I must admit he’s a pretty funny guy.

The 105 Year Old Virgin

You have probably never heard of Britain’s Clara Meadmore, but I think she deserves to be famous. Step aside, Steve Carell! Clara celebrates her 105th birthday this weekend with nary a bit of hanky-panky in her past. She says she was always too busy for relationships, and decided when she was 12 years old that she would never marry. And since “sex equalled marriage in the 1920s and 1930s and she did not buy into the idea,” that meant no sex.

But don’t call her gay.

“People have asked whether I am a homosexual and the answer is no. I have just never been interested in or fancied having sex,” Clara said.

She’s just practical.

“I imagine there is a lot of hassle involved and I have always been busy doing other things.

What other things? She likes “reading, gardening, walking, cooking and listening to Radio 4′s Woman’s Hour.” And don’t try to say she just hasn’t been asked, either.

Clara was never a girl short of marriage proposals and despite “offers” she turned them all down.

Clara claims that remaining a virgin is the reason she’s been blessed with such a long life, which has not been without some adventure. She

trained as a secretary and served in the Army, undertaking administrative duties in Egypt during the Second World War. She was one of the first members of the Youth Hostel Association and a keen member of the Women’s Institute.

She’s right, you know! Sex can be a hassle. Look at all poor Steve Carell had to go through to try and get some tail in The 40 Year Old Virgin! But the hassle is worth it, no?

‘Get Smart’ Movie Stills

I was just thinking, there isn’t a better person who could play Maxwell Smart in this day and age better than Steve Carell. I mean, can you think of a Get Smart movie starring Dane Cook? ::Shudder::

Also, Anne Hathway reminds me a lot in these photos of what Suri Cruise would look like all grown up!

Get Smart opens in theaters on Friday, June 20, 2008.
