“I love the dress-up part of modeling and, once in a while, I will do a photo shoot or a catwalk show for charity. I work a lot in the US – I have a homewares label with JC Penneys and my own skincare line and, these days, I enjoy going to the marketing meetings and the production meetings and being a part of the whole process; using my brain.”

Crawford is busy with lots of other projects and doesn’t need to do anything she doesn’t want. She is still at the top of her game - modeling or marketing - no other model comes close to Cindy Inc.

Supermodel Claudia Schiffer appears on the cover of the November issue of Harper’s Bazaar, UK looking ravishing as always. The former Guess Girl of the 80’s is also featured inside as a muse for seven leading contemporary artists in the photo shoot “Capturing Claudia.”

There is an edge to these photos that is rarely done with Schiffer as the model. She is often used as the beautiful, aloof, wholesome-yet-sexy girl next door. I like that Claudia is able to have some range with her photographs and the artists see her as more than just a gorgeous clothes hanger.

British supermodel Kate Moss is UK Vogue’s 2009 cover model for their September issue. Mario Testino photographed Moss and gave her a retro 60s look.  Considering it’s the biggest edition a fashion magazine puts out each year, this is a pretty blah cover. Nothing really surprising or stunning. Moss looks all right. I’m underwhelmed.

With her catwalk co-horts Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Amber Valetta and Helena Christensen to name just a few, supermodel Karen Mulder was one of fashion’s brightest stars during the 90s. Unfortunately the bombshell has had some problems recently and was arrested in France  for making threatening phone calls to a plastic surgeon.

Mulder became aggressive after the medic refused to reverse an earlier operation she had undergone.

A police source says, “She was screaming and shouting about the operation and became extremely threatening.

“There were repeated calls to the female surgeon who was extremely scared. The suspect is being interviewed.”

The Dutch born model has had trouble with severe bouts of depression and has attempted suicide in the past. She had turned her life around after spending quite a long time in a hospital after the failed suicide try. Hopefully, if that is what triggered this rage, she can get herself together again and be there for her young daughter.

Tom Brady just set the “how to propose to your girlfriend” bar extremely high with his Christmas Eve proposal to Gisele Bundchen. The New England Patriots quarterback and the supermodel

Make Me a Supermodel host Nikki Taylor and her NASCAR husband Burney Lamar have announced they are expecting their first child together.

“Burney and I are very excited with this stage of our lives,” Taylor told People in a Thursday statement.� “We’re thrilled.”

The 33-year-old former Sports Illustrated supermodel�– who already has twin 13-year-old boys from a prior marriage — is due in March, according to�People.

Taylor was previously married to Arena Football League player Matt Martinez from 1993 until 1996. Taylor and Lamar married in 2006 after meeting at a charity autograph signing event.

Move over, Janice Dickinson! The real model show is invading your territory! Tyra Banks‘ show America’s Next Top Model has been bought by Oxygen Media (home of The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency).

Oxygen has acquired the exclusive cable rights to the reality competition series �America�s Next Top Model.� The announcement was made last week by Jason Klarman, General Manager, Oxygen Media.

The network will bring viewers all the �Top Model� fashion challenges, photo shoots and model mayhem as the full library of the hit series joins Oxygen in January, 2009.

In an agreement with CBS Television Distribution, Oxygen will retain exclusive cable rights to all episodes including the 11th cycle currently airing on the CW, the show�s 12th cycle now in production and repeat airings of any future cycles beyond.

Created and hosted by world-renowned supermodel Tyra Banks, �America�s Next Top Model� premiered in 2003 and became a phenomenal television success, especially among young women, �Generation O,� Oxygen�s target audience.

The �Top Model� genre of programming and the show�s personalities have already proven successful on Oxygen, with �The Tyra Banks Show� airing daily on the network and former �Top Model� judge Janice Dickinson�s series �The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency� now in its fourth season.

�The acquisition of this franchise will be a great fit for Oxygen�s slate of original programming and introduce the show to an untapped demographically desirable cable audience,� said Scott Koondel, Executive Vice President of Off-Network, Cable and Interactive Media for CBS Television Distribution.

I wonder if Janice and Tyra will ever reunite for an all-too-trashy joint episode?

Janice Dickinson may well be the most self-centered, arrogant woman on television. Her show Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency had a trans gendered contestant in its first season, while Tyra Banks‘ America’s Next Top Model debuts the first one this season. Here’s what Janice had to say about that:

�I did it on my show first with Claudia (Charriez),� the 53-year-old said. �But you know what? There�s not going to be a moment where Tyra�s not going to knock me off, so I�m not bothered by her.�

Well, maybe she�s a little bothered. Seems Janice thinks her former �Top Model� boss owes her some gratitude. �I (never got) a note or call (from Tyra) thanking me for helping to put her show on the map,� Janice complained. �Whatever. She�s not my favorite person.�

Right… Because Janice Dickinson is responsible for Tyra’s meager success. Ok. Guess she’s still a little bitter about that feud that led to her departure from Top Model.

This week, sad news cloud my column as the fashion world has been shocked to learn that former�Yves�Saint Laurent�model Katoucha Niane, 47, has been found dead. Her body was found in�the Seine River in Paris, Parisian police revealed.

Niane, better known simply as Katoucha,�was last seen Friday night after she left a party with a friend. She headed home, and was never seen alive again. Police say an accidental fall was likely the cause of her death.

A�Guinean,�Niane immigrated to Europe at age 17 to become one of the first African supermodels, which she did achieve. She posed for people like Irving Penn, and maintained her friendship with Saint Laurent long after retiring as a model in 1994.

Niane was circumcised when she was 9, an experience that scarred her for the rest of her life. She had been campaigning against the practice of circumcising girls in Africa for a very long time, and was a true believer in what she fought for. The incredible beauty on her Black face and her long, brown hair, which effectively made her look like a real life version of an� African Barbie, hid a heart of a feminist who never stopped believing in her causes. Our condolences go to her loved ones.���

After all, even if she is my close friend, I am nothing but a carnal, animalistic, sad�big dog looking for meat.�In other words, I am a man. �And not like Boy George, who once actually declared on “Karma Chameleon” that he was a “man without convictions”. Not that kind of man. I have convictions and one of them is that Luisana Lopilato looks fine as hell in her bathing suit. Kate Moss may be off the market soon. The supermodel is said to be planning a chicks only trip to tell her closest girlfriends, including best pal Davinia Taylor of her impending engagment to her rocker beau Jamie Hince.

‘Kate has told five friends, including best pal Davinia Taylor, that she wanted to go to Amsterdam to have some girlie fun and also to tell them something special,’ a source tells the Daily Star.

‘Some of her mates think it could well be a hen do, which Kate will only ‘fess up to once they are there.’

Kate’s plans were almost scuppered because Davinia, 30, planned to go to Berlin for a mini-break on the same dates.

‘Both Kate and Davinia laughed lots,’ says the insider, ‘but it was Davinia who relented.’

Since ending her relationship with Pete Doherty last year, Moss seems to be making strides toward growing up a little.
