Ashli’s Toe Sends Her Home from MTV’s ‘The Island’

Last night’s episode of The Island on MTV was kind of a yawn, as every expected thing that could happen did happen. Robin got into a verbal altercation with another girl… this time Ashli. Everyone ganged up against Evelyn. Johnny Bananas was a food nazi, as always, and was direspectful to all the girls. The main alliance of Johnny, Kenny, Johanna and Paula decided who went into the face-off and who got keys. Dunbar showed his terrorizing and angry true colors. And Tj Lavin interjected his opinion on quitters.

After her fight with Robin, Ashli went into the wilderness to pee and gashed her toe open. She was told she couldn’t walk on it or get it wet for a week. But wait, she was supposed to go into the face-off. Going in would pretty much guarantee the other two competitors a key, but the only alternative was to quit. Much to some people’s dismay, Ashli threw herself in because she didn’t want to be a quitter. Tj told her she should quit… but she refused. The face-off had Jenn, Paula and Ashli pushing a giant ball around a big open area and trying to make it into a goal twice. They got to choose boys to help them, and despite Ashli and Derrick’s best efforts, the other four teamed up to give Paula the win.

At the elimination ceremony, it was a unamimous vote for Ashli to leave because she would be no good to anyone with a gank foot. Jenn got a key, and TJ called Ashli a quitter. Yes, I think it’s just about time for him to go back to his non-opinionated hosting ways from seasons past.

The plan now that all the keys are given out is to keep Ev out of face-offs, guaranteeing her a sideline spot to watch 8 other people paddle out to the treasure chest. Besides that, ‘the family’ will pick everyone else off one by one til their alliance all has keys. Maybe Johanna will actually quit being a coward and actually go into a face-off?

Rachel’s ‘Integrity’ Gets Her Kicked Off MTV’s ‘The Island’

With a serious girl fight almost in play on MTV‘s challenge show ‘The Island‘, things are really heating up. Robin is sick of Johanna thinking that since she is sleeping with Kenny, the so-called “King of the Jungle“, she can just sit back and wait for someone to hand her a key… So she wants to take her down in a face-off. Johanna’s response is that she is sleeping with him because she likes him, so why did Robin sleep with him?! (This of course was not the terminology used, but I am keeping it PG).  This ends up not mattering when Rachel throws herself in the mix and pronounces that she wants to go in against two rookies, pretty much guaranteeing a rookie exit.

Robin doesn’t like this idea, because all week she had it in her brain she was going into the face-off. KellyAnne volunteers to be the third person, knowing she will get thrown in soon anyway. That girl has some guts going against these two vets who are chomping at the bits for a challenge. The face-off was an endurance test where the girls had to balance on two beams suspended above water. Robin was the first to fall, and after over 2.5 hours, Rachel finally gave in, leaving KellyAnne as the winner.  (So, Johnny Bananas who doesn’t shut up about how weak she is should probably shut up). Rachel and Robin were looking for votes, so Rachel agreed to get rid of show girlfriend Jenn if she could stay. Johnny, Kenny, Paula and Johanna (AKA the family/mob) think they run the show, so they thought they could get everyone else to do their bidding.

At voting time, Rachel professes that she made a deal, but that she wasn’t willing to give up her integrity for a game. Without anytime to discuss, Johnny changes his vote for Rachel to go home, and the rest all follow suit. Robin stays there by only two votes, but at least now she has more time for a challenge romance with drunken Marine Dan!

Two Male Competitors Quit MTV’s ‘The Island’ Challenge

That’s right… it was a man who was the first to quit this season’s MTV Real World/Road Rules Challenge, The Island. After fighting with Dan for being a constant drunk, Dave got completely sloshed one night and decided to roll out. After some girls talked him into staying and sleeping it off, the next morning he still chose to leave. TJ Lavin doesn’t like quitters, and he told him all about it, but Dave wanted to go home to a girl he met a month ago instead of fighting for a piece of $300,000. (Not that I can say I wouldn’t have done the same).

Then it was time for nominations, and Johnny Bananas (who has incessantly ticked off EVERYONE, including his closest allies) puts himself in the mix for the face off. Derrick joined in. Then Abe decided to be the third person- but he already had a key! He’s just hardcore and up for the challenge. Johnny got cowardly and knew he couldn’t win fairly against Abrahm, so he and Derrick ganged up on him to get him out of the face off. Then Derrick won it. Duh.

It was down to Johnny and Abe begging for votes, but after a 1 minute phone call home and realizing that his self-owned and run business was having major issues, Abe asked to be sent home. Despite that plea, so many people hate Johnny that he still got six votes! Unfortunately, Abe got 9 and was sent packing, leaving Johnny with a key. Great! Abe handed his key over to Dunbar to lead a team to the island treasure.

The drama heats up next week and Robin challenges Johanna to a face-off… It’s gonna get fun!!!! Stay tuned here for recaps and updates!

MTV’s ‘The Island’ is a Challenge Like We’ve Never Seen!

On the new MTV Real World/ Road Rules Challenge called The Island, we have veterans like Tonya, Kenny, Johnny Bananas, Robin, Ev, Johanna, Derrick and the hot lesbian Rachel. The newbies are quite a crew as well with Dunbar, Cohutta, Dan, Dave and KellyAnne.

The premise this time is very different. There are no individual challenges and no teams. Every man is for himself. The object is to be one of 8 people with a key at the end of the game who can paddle out on a raft to an island far away and find/open a treasure chest. You can get a key three ways:

1. Win a face-off

2. Lose a face-off but win a vote from your peers

3. Get a key from someone who gets kicked off the island

They are rationed supplies, no running water, no electricity, and an outhouse… all the comforts of desert island living. Automatically the boys all decide that the girls need to go. YAWN! This happens every season. So boring. Johanna and Kenny hook up, and looks like there will be a lot more of that to come. Shocking!

Kenny, Abe and Tonya face-off… Abe wins in a tight race. Though Tonya begs for a vote form her peers, she is kicked off the island and Kenny gets the 2nd key. Poor girl never had a shot. Perhaps it’s time for her to retire from challenges and stay in her Nebraska town of 550 people.
