‘Project Runway All-Stars’ Won’t Have Heidi, Tim, Michael Or Nina

Not even Project Runway is exempt from the reality competition show trend of bringing back cast from the previous years to try again.

Project Runway All Stars, which won’t hit airwaves until late 2012, will have familiar faces in the sewing room (and trudging off to Mood,) but the judges and mentors are all new.

Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, Nina Garcia and Michael Kors will not sit in judgement on these designers creations. Model Angela Lindvall takes Heidi’s place as host/judge. Designers Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman will round out the other two chairs while Marie Claire editor Joanna Coles mentors in the workroom.

So which designers will get to try their hand at sewing glory again? Here’s your rundown…

Austin Scarlett – Season 1 (fourth place)
Kara Janx – Season 2 (fourth place)
Elise Jimenez – Season 4 (tenth place)
Kathleen ‘Sweet P’ Vaughn – Season 4 (fifth place)
Rami Kashou – Season 4 (runner-up)
Jarell Scott – Season 5 (fourth place)
Kenley Collins – Season 5 (second runner-up)
Gordana Gelhausen – Season 6 (fourth place)
Anthony Williams – Season 7 (fifth place)
Mila Hermanovski – Season 7 (second runner-up)
April Johnson – Season 8 (fifth place)
Michael Costello – Season 8 (fourth place)
Mondo Guerra – Season 8 (runner-up)

The prizes they are designing for are not too shabby – an exclusive designer’s boutique in Neiman Marcus stores, $100,000 in technology and office space, and $100,000 in cash. They will also vie for a feature spread and a one-year assignment as guest editor for Marie Claire, as well as a sewing and embroidery studio provided by Brother International.

So what do you think of the cast?

Who would you like to see back on the runway? I’m already missing Daniel Vosovic, Korto Momolu and Santino Rice and think they would be excellent additions. What do you think?

Make It Work! ‘Project Runway’ Has Designs On Wii

'Project Runway' Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn could be in your living room next spring. Atari is producing a game for the Nintendo Wii system that will allow you to show off your design skills with design challenges, and hair and make-up styling – all part of the game inpired by the hit show. Using the Wii Balance Board you can send your model down the catwalk for the judges to critique. No word on Michael Kors or Nina Garcia being a part of the fun.

Will they make Heidi’s avatar say “Auf Wii-dersen?”

Tim Gunn Fights Fashion Crimes In New Comic Book

tim-gunn-new-york-times-sunday-with-the-magazine-event

Tim Gunn is a busy man – mentoring aspiring designers on Project Runway, advising the fashion-challenged on Tim Gunn’s Guide To Style – but life is about to get a little busier now that he’s playing the literal fashion police in a four-issue Marvel Comics series.

“The Loaded Gunn” storyline will appear in Marvel’s revival of their 1960s comic Models Inc.  In the story, Tim helps save superhero suits from evil villains.  Marvel editor Charlie Beckerman calls it “a little `America’s Next Top Model’ — without Tyra (Banks) — and a little `Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.’”

Of starring in a comic, Tim said:

“It’s exciting and exhilarating, but bizarre. When they came to me, I said, ‘I’m about to turn 56 years old. Are they crazy?’ But it kept revealing itself in layers and next thing, I’m wearing the `Iron Man’ suit. I was dumbstruck. Most superheroes are fighting the same thing  — good vs. evil — but who’s taking on crimes against fashion? Me!”

Tim Gunn in the Iron Man suit?  I’d like to see that in real life!  Keep up the fight, Tim!

Obama gets Tim Gunn’s Vote… on Fashion

Project Runway mentor Tim Gunn gave Michelle Obama his vote… for best dressed first-lady wannabe.

“No contest, Michelle,” he said at the Tide and Downy’s Fashion Care launch at the Empire Hotel’s Pool Deck in NYC.

“She epitomizes class and style,” he added. “She looks approachable.”

“Cindy, on the other hand – with her button-down suits and blouses – looks like she’s duct-taped,” the Project Runway star said.

“Her fashion is a metaphor for her personality,” he added.

Ouch.
