‘Demons’ and ‘DaVinci Code’ Sequel ‘The Lost Symbol’ Coming

The third film about the adventures of Robert Langdon is already in the pipeline, even though the book isn’t even out until September. It’s called The Lost Symbol

Variety reports that Columbia Pictures is moving forward on a third installment of the Robert Langdon franchise, based on Dan Brown’s books. The Da Vinci Code kicked things off in May of 2006 and will be followed by Angels & Demons on May 15. The two pics were both directed by Ron Howard and star Tom Hanks as the Harvard religious expert.

Dan Brown has announced that his next installment of the series is “The Lost Symbol,” which will be published in the U.S. and Canada by Doubleday on September 15, 2009. The story takes place during a twelve-hour period.

I’m definitely curious to find out what other controversial ideas Dan Brown will bring us next.

Vatican Wants ‘Angels & Demons’ Boycott

angelsanddemonsfirstlook

The Vatican seems to be up in arms about the new film starring Tom Hanks Angels & Demons.

The film, based on the novel by Dan Brown is set to open in theaters worldwide on May 15th. And the official Vatican newspaper Avvenire says in its latest edition that the church “cannot apprive” of the film.

In addition, Italian newspaper La Stampa reports that the Vatican will soon be calling on all Catholics to boycott the movie. That’s a large order! But in the same article, Archbishop Velasio De Paolis says he worries that calling for a boycott will draw more attention to the film.

When will people learn that boycotting a movie is entirely counter-productive, it’s just free publicity.

Parade Magazine Names Will Smith As Most Favorite Star

Parade magazine (with Entertainment Tonight‘s help) compiled a list of America’s Top 10 Favorite Stars. Will Smith was number one of course, which you can tell from the cover. I think America is on crack to pick him! He is successful but he is in no mean my favorite. I think he had his time back in the Men In Black times. Here is the rest of the list:

1. Will Smith
2. Tom Hanks
3. Reese Witherspoon
4. George Clooney
5. Meryl Streep
6. Brad Pitt
7. Julia Roberts
8. Johnny Depp
9. Jennifer Aniston
10. Patrick Dempsey

I honestly think this was the older crowd that voted for these people. And what about Tom Cruise? He is always on a top favorite stars list. Seriously, Johnny Depp is number eight? He should be at least number two! Who would you pick as your number one?
