Blink 182 Reunite for Grammys… Kinda

blink182grammys

If you’ve been a fan of blink182 from the jump, your TRL-laced dreams have been answered… kind of.  The Recording Academy announced today that the band’s members Tom Delonge, Mark Hoppus, and the uber-famous Travis Barker will join together on-stage, but not to perform; to present an award.

All about baby steps, right?

Nonetheless, it’s a pivotal moment for the group’s fans, who haven’t seen the three together on-stage since 2004, following an announcement of an “indefinite hiatus”.

Travis Barker Denies blink 182 Reunion Speculation

When a friend, whether former or current, almost loses his/her life, it often has a tendency to bring you closer than ever before.  Such has been the case between former bandmates Travis Barker, Tom Delonge, and Mark Hoppus who (by Hoppus’ blog’s admission) have been spending time together.  Such has lead to speculation that the group (who went on an indefinite hiatus in February 2005) might soon be reuniting.

Such, however, is not the case according to Barker.  TMZ snagged Barker in Callabassas who gave the paps a rather-impromptu denial via video.  Check it out here.

Hoppus though, wasn’t so concrete when taking to his blog:

“First, through a number of phone calls, and then a couple of weeks ago we all hung out for a few hours. They’ve all been great, very positive conversations. We’re just reconnecting as friends after four years of not talking. It’s a good thing.”

“Obviously the first question for a lot of people will be, ‘Does this mean a Blink-182 reunion?’ The answer is none of us know. We haven’t talked about it at all. Right now it’s just good for the three of us to see one another, reconnect and let the past be the past. The events of the past two months supersede everything that happened before. Life is too short.”

First Pictures Of Travis Barker Since The Accident

Just over a month ago Travis Barker and DJ AM, were horribly hurt in an airplane accident. And now we have the first pictures of Travis since the accident. Travis was spending time with his little girl, Alabama, on Thursday.

Recently he opened up to US Weekly about the accident…here are some highlights of the interview:

On his fear of flying: “I hate planes. My biggest fear ever is to be involved in a plane crash, so when that happened … well, I’m just thankful to be alive! I’m just grateful to be here at all.”

On eating meat again after over 25 years as a vegetarian: “I need protein from food rather than just protein supplements. I changed my diet. I would do anything I possibly could if they said like, ‘There’s a possibility you might heal faster if you do eat meat or just change your eating habits.’ So I did. I don’t regret it at all, I feel so much better.”

We are all happy that he is out of the hospital and doing good. We are still thinking about you.

Shanna Moakler On The Crash ‘Our Lives Will Be Changed Forever’

Travis Barker and DJ AM were in an airplane accident Saturday in South Caroline that critically injured the both of them. The good news is that they will survive the crash. Shannon Moakler, who is back with Travis since their divorce, released a statement yesterday.

“There are not enough words to express how thankful we are for the outpouring of love and support we have received during this very difficult time. We can only ask for prayers as we heal and mourn the loss of our dear friends who we considered part of our family. Our lives will be changed forever.”

We wish them both a speedy recovery.

Travis Barker & DJ AM Critically Injured, 4 Others Dead in Plane Crash

Tragedy struck early this morning in South Carolina as a Learjet 60 took off from South Carolina’s Columbia Metropolitan Airport, killing four, and critically injuring collaborators DJ AM (real name Adam Goldstein) and Travis Barker.  The two are said to be recovering from severe burns covering their bodies.  No word on any type of prognosis, but the two are not in good condition as of post-time.  Barker was transported via ground to a burn unit, while AM was airlifted.

The deceased have been identified as pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills, CA co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad, CA, Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City, CA (who was Travis Barker’s personal assistant), and Charles Still, 25 of Los Angeles, CA.

During a press conference late Saturday morning a spokeswoman for the National Transportation Safety Board revealed that the plane overran the airstrip and proceeded to run into a number of the airport’s lights and antenna.

“I didn’t know what I had seen — it was maybe 800 feet in front of me, but as I approached it closer though I made out a fire. By then I was able to see the tail of the jet and I recognized it as a jet,” Owens said.

Owens then described what he saw as he tried to make it to the wreckage.

“It’s in flames and the fuel is running across the road and I had to cross the fuel to get to the two guys that seemed to have been dumped on the highway,” Owens said.

Owens said the two men (Travis and DJ AM!) were running around and stripping down to extinguish themselves. He then asked the men if there was anyone else on board the plane and they said four more were with them.

“We turned to the jet to try and see if there was anything we could do, but immediately, there was nothing anyone could do,” Owens said.

This is seriously really sad news.  Thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the deceased, and many thoughts and hopes for strength go out to Travis Barker & AM.
