Chord Overstreet Returning To ‘Glee’ In December

First he was leaving, now he’s back.

Chord Overstreet is working on a deal to head back to Glee in some episodes that will air in December.

Overstreet, who played quarterback Sam Evans, was written off the show this summer when he did not become a regular cast member, is finalizing a deal for a recurring role in season 3, with episodes to begin around the holidays.

How will producers and writers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuck write his character back into the storyline?

We last saw Sam holding hand with Mercedes (Amber Riley) but she has moved on with another boyfriend this season. Will their be a reunion between Sam and Quinn (Dianna Agron) and more importantly, will Sam rejoin the New Direction choir or head to the rival group set up by Shelby (Idina Menzel) and join Mercedes.

The 22 year-old is currently working on a solo album and guest starred on an episode of The Middle.

First Look: Katie Holmes On ‘How I Met Your Mother’

Katie Holmes and Josh Radnor

Katie Holmes is set to guest star on How I Met Your Mother‘s Halloween episode!   Having Katie on the show is fun, even if it is a bit of stunt casting, but what’s even better is that she plays a character that many fans never thought they’d get to see.  Katie will portray the Slutty Pumpkin, a girl that Ted (Josh Radnor) met at a Halloween party years ago.  He’s attended the same party year after year, wearing the same costume, hoping to run into her again.  This is apparently his lucky year.

How did the show’s creator, Craig Thomas, decide to cast Katie as the near-mythological Slutty Pumpkin?  He said:

“Katie is a lovely and talented actress, which is why we’ve saved for her perhaps the most classily named character in our show’s history.”

Will Slutty Pumpkin turn out to be The Mother we’ve all been waiting six seasons to meet?  You’ll have to tune in on October 31 to find out.

Take A First Look At ‘The Bachelor’ Ben Flajnik

Ben Flajnik

The new season of The Bachelor is coming up, and ABC wants to make sure you’re good and ready to drool by the time the season premiere airs in January. They’ve released the first promo photo of their new piece of meat, Benjamin Flajnik.

Ben is not so new to many viewers, actually. He proposed to, and was rejected by, Ashley Hebert, on the last season of The Bachelorette.  The network says that he’s put all that heartbreak behind him and is ready to “move on with his life, his phenomenal success as a businessman and his search for the right woman to be his wife and to start a family with.”

Ms. Right will be a lucky girl indeed:  Ben is a winemaker in beautiful Sonoma County, California.  His winery, Evolve Winery, produces a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Sauvignon Blanc from organic, sustainably grown grapes.  He’s not a bad looking guy, either.  There are definitely worse gigs out there.  Definitely.

What do you think about Ben’s chances this time?  Will he find love?  Would you accept his rose and proposal?  Drop a comment and tell us!

Roseanne Barr Lands New TV Show ‘Downwardly Mobile’ At NBC

Roseanne Barr may join Tim Allen as another 90s sitcom star headed back to TV.

The actress and comedienne’s new concept Downwardly Mobile, has been sold for a script commitment with a penalty attached (if the pilot isn’t made.)

This time, Barr is headed to NBC – the network that passed on her successful show, Roseanne, which ruled the ratings throughout most of the 90s.

Barr’s new sitcom finds her with her family and friends in another blue-collar situation – a mobile home community – that may resonant with viewers in these sketchy financial times.

Of her original show, Barr wrote a NY Magazine piece:

“[...]I wanted to do a realistic show about a strong mother who was not a victim of Patriarchal Consumerist Bullshit—in other words, the persona I had carefully crafted over eight previous years in dive clubs and biker bars: a fierce working-class Domestic Goddess. It was 1987, and it seemed people were primed and ready to watch a sitcom that didn’t have anything like the rosy glow of middle-class confidence and comfort, and didn’t try to fake it. ABC seemed to agree. They picked up Roseanne in 1988.”

Barr, 58, and her boyfriend Johnny Argent created the show along with Roseanne show executive producer Eric Gilliland who will be showrunner.

Tim Allen Returns To TV Tonight With ‘Last Man Standing’

For anyone who has missed Home Improvement and more specifically, Tim Allen – tonight marks his return to television.

Allen and Nancy Travis will star as husband and wife in Last Man Standing at 8pm on ABC with the 58 year-old actor as the father of three daughters (sorry, no Johnathan Taylor Thomas here) instead of boys this time around.

Allen’s Mike Baxter is a guy’s guy who loves the outdoors, doesn’t like the way the world around him is changing, gets advice from an older dude and pokes fun at a more modern guy he works with. Hmmm Home Improvement 2.0?

After years traveling and photographing natural locales for the Outdoor Man catalog, Baxter’s boss (Hector Elizondo) shutters the print edition and wants Mike back in Colorado at the store to work on and attract younger guys to their sporting goods website.

Now he has to deal with his daughters – his eldest is a single mom who just moved back in to the family home and two teenage girls – and a wife who landed a promotion and needs some help with the girls and the house.

The new premise might be familiar but the show is getting a lot of positive buzz for the premiere tonight.

Are you ready to watch Allen again? Or are you holding on to H.I. memories as long as you can?

‘Bones’ Star David Boreanaz Says His Affair With Rachel Uchitel Was Good For His Marriage – In The Long Run

David Boreanaz has broken his silence and is speaking out about his affair with Rachel Uchitel and it’s effects on his marriage to former Playboy Playmate Jamie Bergman.

The scandal broke in the spring of 2010 when it was revealed that Boreanaz, 42, had been unfaithful to Bergman, his wife of 10 years, with Uchitel, Tiger Woods #1 mistress, after photos and text messages of the two emerged.

Boreanaz now says that it was “a bonding experience, in the long run.”

“In a sacred ground like marriage, you find yourself out of it at certain times for reasons unknown that can be destructive,” he told TV Week via US Weekly. “There could be a demon that kind of comes out and overtakes you.”

Boreanaz says he doesn’t believe in giving up “I’m a fighter. I’m a lover,” he shared.

The actor has had to fight a lot to save his marriage (and his public reputation.) He was hit with a sexual harassment lawsuit from Kristina Hagan, an actress who appeared on the hit FOX show Bones, where she claimed he inappropriately texted her and made unwanted advances.

Boreanaz and Bergman have two children, Jaden, 9, and Bella, 2.

Uchitel has gone on to marry businessman Matt Hahn.

ABC Comedy To Bring ‘Cheers’ Stars Rhea Perlman & Kirstie Alley Together Again

Kirstie Alley and Rhea Perlman are trying to rekindle some of the comedic magic they had as part of Cheers with a new comedy for ABC.

The veteran actresses are teaming up for a pilot called The Manzanis. Alley is a woman who moves “along with her Italian-American family” to an upscale neighborhood in New Jersey. The family is at odds with their new neighbors. Perlmanwill be Alley’s mother-in-law.

Alley and Perlman both won Emmys for their time on Cheers and each had short-lived sshow of their own. Alley with Fat Actress and Perlman with Pearl.

ABC is working the nostalgia factor for their comedies. Tim Allen‘s Last Man Standing will debut on the network this coming Tuesday, October 11th.

If it survives it’s competition (it’s on opposite NCIS, Glee and The Biggest Loser) and Alley’s show makes it past the pilot stage, the two shows could pair up for a throwback comedy night.

‘The Simpsons’ Salary Dispute Could End The Series

Twenty three seasons and five hundred episodes might be all she wrote for The Simpsons if the network and cast don’t come to an agreement on salary.

Twentieth Century Fox and the voice actors are locked in a standoff over the actor’s salary as the studio wants them to take a 45% pay cut to keep the cost of the aging show down. The cast had offered a 30% cut with a share of the profits from syndication but the studio isn’t budging.

“We believe this brilliant series can and should continue, but we cannot produce future seasons under its current financial model,” Twentieth Century Fox said in a statement.

The cast stars whose salaries are under scrutiny include Dan Castellaneta, (Homer Simpson, Barney, Groundskeeper Willie) Nancy Cartwright, (Bart Simpson, Nelson) Yeardley Smith, (Lisa Simpson) Harry Shearer, (Ned Flanders, Principal Skinner, Mr. Burns) Julie Kavner (Marge Simpson, Patty & Selma) and Hank Azaria (Chief Wiggum, Apu, Moe).

The studio playing hardball indicates to some that it’s possible they want to shutter the series as it will make more money if it’s cancelled.

As long as The Simpsons remains on air, a deal is in place where reruns can only be shown on FOX channels, not cable where it would be much more lucrative for the studio. The contract was made before the cable networks turned out to be the best place for syndication.

With lagging ratings (down 14% this year versus last,) this could be the end of The Simpsons.

NBC Cancels ‘Playboy Club’ – Hugh Hefner Disappointed ‘It Didn’t Find It’s Audience’

NBC has pulled the trigger first and The Playboy Club is kaput – making it the first casualty of the new Fall TV shows with only three episodes aired.

The show is one of two major network offerings (the other is ABC‘s Pan Am) that tried to pull off a Mad Men vibe and perhaps ride that wave of success but the Amanda Heard/Eddie Cibrian starring show didn’t stand a chance.

The inspiration for the show, Hugh Hefner, tweeted his disappointment with the decision.

“I’m sorry NBC’s “The Playboy Club” didn’t find it’s audience. It should have been on cable, aimed at a more adult audience,” Hef said.

NBC’s decision to launch the drama on Monday night and pit it against already established shows Castle and Hawaii Five-0 plus the drama that the PTC (Parents Television Council) stirred up regarding the content, Playboy Club seemed dead in the water from the start.

Low premiere ratings coupled with dropping viewership for each successive show combined to cancel the fledgling drama.

NBC will begin airing another drama, Prime Suspect with Maria Bello in it’s 10pm time slot starting October 17th.

‘Arrested Development’ Heading Back To TV & A Movie Is In The Works

Arrested Development fans are getting closer to the long-awaited movie of the cancelled series and on Sunday they were given even more good news.

A fourth season – a mini season – is now coming together as creator Mitch Hurwitz confirmed that he is working on the project at the New Yorker Festival on October 2nd.

“Just creatively, I have been working on the screenplay for a long time and found that as time went by, there was so much more to the story,” explained Hurwitz. “In fact, where everyone’s been for five years became a big part of the story.

“So in working on the screenplay, I found even if I just gave five minutes per character to that back story, we were halfway through the movie before the characters got together.”

Although fans are quick to hop on to any morsel – it’s not a done deal. Hurwitz said he and director/producer Ron Howard were at “80 percent” of the way to a definite answer on the film, but there is a caveat:

“We don’t completely own the property, there are business people involved and studios and that kind of thing,” Hurwitz said of the snag.

Star Jason Bateman tweeted to fans more definitive news.

“It’s true. We will do 10 episodes and the movie. Probably shoot them all together next summer for a release in early ’13. VERY excited!” Bateman said.

Reuniting Bateman, Will Arnet, Jeffrey Tambor, Portia de Rossi, Michael Cera and all the cast would be quite a feat but hopefully they can make it happen.
