Jonathan Taylor Thomas Says He’d ‘Like To Work Behind The Camera’

Jonathan Taylor Thomas had disappeared from the public eye almost completely since he left Home Improvement in 1998 but the EW reunion photo and his 30th birthday earlier this month have brought the 90s teen heartthrob back in the limelight, even if just for a bit.

Jonathan told the magazine he still loves TV and film but feels behind the scenes is where his heart is right now.

“I think at this point, I’d eventually like to work behind the camera,” he said. “That’s not to say I would never act again, I’m not quite sure to be honest. I still have a passion for TV and film could see myself working in it.”

But one thing he was sure of – how great the reunion was with his Home Improvement family; Tim Allen, Patricia Richardson, Zachary Ty Bryan, Taran Noah Smith, Debbi Dunning and Richard Karn.

“It was great, it obviously had been a number of years and it was really remarkable how easily everyone slipped back into our old banter and behavior with each other,” Jonathan revealed of the cast photo shoot and later get-together at Richardson’s house.

“It was though as nothing had changed, and we had literally stepped back onto the set. It really felt comfortable, the way we were joking with each other. It was like a family reunion, like old times.

With Tim Allen returning to TV this fall in Last Men Standing – wouldn’t it be nice to see JTT too?

‘Criminal Minds’ Cast Previews The New Season At The Paley Center

The Cast Of Criminal Minds

The cast of CBS’ Criminal Minds turned out in force at the CBS Fall Preview Party at the Paley Center For Media.  All your favorite FBI profilers were there:  Joe Mantegna (Rossi), Thomas Gibson (Hotch), Kirsten Vangsness (Garcia), A.J. Cook (JJ), Paget Brewster (Prentiss), Matthew Gray Gubler (Reid), and (my personal fave) hottie Shemar Moore (Morgan).

Oh, did I say Prentiss?  This season sees the return of this extremely popular character, who is not dead after all.   Another change for the show’s seventh season:  according to executive producer Erica Messer, this season there will be more focus on “the heroes… all the layers that make up this team.”

The Criminal Minds season premiere airs on Wednesday, September 21st.

Tons of photos of the cast after the jump.

Ashton Kutcher Tells Letterman ‘Two And A Half Men’ Will Be A Huge Success

Ashton Kutcher

Ashton Kutcher can’t be accused of lacking ego, but he sounds especially confident about the future of his new project:  taking over for Charlie Sheen on Two And A Half Men.

He told David Letterman that he is sure it’s going to be really big.

“You get out [on stage] and the audience goes crazy.  I think it’s gonna go through the roof. I really do. I’ve been laughing really hard.”

Ashton’s character, Walden Schmidt, is “an internet billionaire with a broken heart” who buys the house that Sheen’s character lived in prior to his death.  (As we all know by now, he gets hit by a train and killed in the season premiere on September 19th.)

Jennette McCurdy & Ariana Grande Horse Around At The 2011 Angel Awards

Jennette McCurdy, Ariana Grande

Nickelodeon darlings Jennette McCurdy (iCarly) and Ariana Grande (Victorious) hammed it up for the cameras as they arrived at the 2011 Angel Awards.

The event honors the year’s top supporters of Project Angel Food, a Los Angeles nonprofit providing free, nutritious, home-delivered meals for those living with HIV, cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.  This year’s awardees were Lisa Lillien of Hungry Girl, and Dante Di Loreto, Executive Producer of GLEE.

Ginnifer Goodwin Takes The LBD To A Whole New Level

Ginnifer Goodwin

Ginnifer Goodwin has fantastic style, but she looked particularly awesome at the Disney ABC Television Group Summer Press Tour on Sunday.  She wore a black 3.1 Phillip Lim dress with embellished sleeves and Jimmy Choo shoes, and dang if she just doesn’t make it look so easy to look so good.  Of course, most of us would probably look fabulous all the time if we were young, thin and had access to a designer wardrobe!

Ginnifer has appeared in a number of movies lately, but just because Big Love is over doesn’t mean she’s done with TV.  You can catch her this fall in ABC’s Once Upon a Time, playing Snow White.

See more pics of Ginnifer after the jump.

Dr. Who’s Matt Smith & Karen Gillan Hang Out In Hollywood

Karen Gillan and Matt Smith

Is there a doctor in the house?  There certainly was at the Amoeba Music in Hollywood on Tuesday.  The dynamic duo of Matt Smith (The Doctor) and Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) were on site to celebrate the release of Doctor Who Series 6 on DVD and Blu-Ray.

(I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:  I love these two.  And I love the show.  Could I even be a bigger nerd?  Don’t answer that.)

Where do you think they parked the TARDIS?

More photos of Matt and Karen follow.

Lucy Lawless Promotes ‘Spartacus’ At Comic-Con 2011

Lucy Lawless

What a rare treat to see pictures of Lucy Lawless come through the wire.  (Yeah, I was a huge Xena: Warrior Princess fan back in the day.)   This weekend,  Lucy was in San Diego for a Comic-Con panel promoting her current project, the second season of the Spartacus series on Starz Network.

Lucy was rather tight-lipped about the future of her character, Lucretia, a scheming Roman woman with a lust for power and reasons to seek revenge.   However, she did share some details on her career that true fans will enjoy.

She said she’s drawn to sci-fi and fantasy roles (Xena, Spartacus, Battlestar Galactica) for a couple of reasons.   “I do it to experience a parallel existence safely, w/o consequence… I like to experience extreme worlds.”

Interestingly, she also said she’s not terribly fond of one of the staples of the genre – the action scene.  However, former co-star Bruce Campbell taught her a positive thinking trick to get through them.

Apparently, whenever he was told it was time to shoot a fight scene, he’d say “Excellent!” Lawless says that’s a good technique. “If you can’t change it, you better be happy about it, right? It’s time to do your taxes… Excellent!”

Spartacus: Vengeance and will premiere in January 2012.  More photos of Lucy after the jump.

Ashton Kutcher & Friends Strip For The New Season Of ‘Two And A Half Men’

Ashton Kutcher

If you hadn’t heard that Ashton Kutcher replaced Charlie Sheen on Two And A Half Men, CBS wants to be certain you’re paying attention!   The promo ad for the show’s upcoming season features Ashton and his two new co-stars Angus T. Jones and John Cryer in their birthday suits, behind a sign reading “All will be revealed… 09.19.11.”

It’s going to be an entirely different show with Ashton on board.  And what I mean by that is that it might actually be funny.   Clearly, I’m not a fan, but I may have to check out the season premiere to see how it shapes up.

Oprah Winfrey Taking The CEO Spot Of Her OWN Network

Oprah Winfrey is taking control of her fledgling network and giving herself a promotion.

The TV titan is now the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Creative Officer of the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) beginning in the fall of 2011. Peter Ligouri, the current and temporary COO after Christina Norman‘s departure this spring, will step away when Oprah takes the helm.

Oprah is also bringing her Harpo Studios execs Eric Logan and Sheri Salata with her.

In a letter posted to her Facebook, Oprah says she is ready to take the reigns and bring out OWN’s potential.

“Our intention is to use the cable platform and the internet platform and the mobile platform to create messages that fill you up and bring you to new levels of awareness about yourself, ourselves, and our world; our potential…

It’s an incredible challenge ahead trying to figure out what kind of shows and programming will resonate with you, inspire you, bring a little piece of light into your already crowded existence. But I feel called to do it, and will be relying on your feedback, emails and tweets and message boards to let me know what you think.”

With new programming, including the Rosie O’Donnell talk show in October, and Oprah and her Harpo team heading the network, this is probably Oprah’s best bet at turning the ratings around.

Elle MacPherson Is Looking For The Next ‘Fashion Star’ (Photos)

Elle MacPherson looked like a tall, cool glass of water at the NBC upfronts.   She is still totally fabulous at age 47.

Elle was on hand to promote her new reality fashion design show, Fashion Star.  It’s a competition show in which aspiring designers take on weekly design challenges and are eliminated one by one.  If you think that sounds a lot like Project Runway, you’d be correct.   Hey, if it worked for Heidi Klum and Bravo, it might work for Elle and NBC, right?  Supposedly what sets Fashion Star off from Project Runway is that the clothes are intended to be more “accessible,” aka stuff people might actually wear.

Look for Elle’s new show on NBC in 2012.
