Adam Levine Tells MTV & The VMAs To Quit Pretending
The 2011 MTV VMAs might be a big deal for most pop music artists but Adam Levine isn’t among those singing their praises.
The Maroon 5 singer has called out the channel for it’s lack of music and videos specifically and thinks it’s pretty ridiculous the cable channel loaded with reality shows is hosting a Video Music Awards.
“the VMA’s. one day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music. I’m drawing a line in the sand. f— you VMA’s,” he tweeted.
The 32 year-old singer was still standing his ground a day later and said he’s not taking it back.
“Still waiting to have my ‘Jerry Macguire mission statement moment of deep regret …’ Not happening. Phew!”
Even later he continued with a little bit more.
“i may be a pop singer. but every once in a while the angsty teenager in me just blurts out some raw honesty,” he wrote. “it’s a reflex.”
MTV took the opportunity to plug the show and point out Maroon 5 won an award
“Soooo you’ll be tuning in at 9/8C tomorrow right?” the channel responded.
“BTW, bonus points if you Twitpic your 2004 Moonman!”
Levine and Maroon 5 is touring right now with Train and Gavin DeGraw. He is also a coach and mentor on NBC‘s The Voice.
