Zach Galifianakis Covers Rolling Stone For July

Zach Galifianakis. The man has no filter and lots of people laugh – until you’re on the receiving end of his pointed barbs, then maybe, not so much.

But if you aren’t Ke$ha, Sean Penn, Nike, Eliza Dushku or parents who let their children watch The Hangover, you’re relatively safe… for now.

Rolling Stone captures some choice Galifianakis comments from the star. Here are a few:

On turning down Sean Penn’s movie offer: “When Sean Penn called to offer him a role in Into the Wild, Galifianakis told him he had an appointment at Arby’s and to ‘send my Jews the script.’”

On how much he disklikes Ke$ha: “I saw that Ke$ha woman the other day,” he says. She’d e-mailed him about getting a drink, and a few days later, he ran into her in a bar. “She was sitting by herself, and I walked up to her and said, ‘Listen, I got your e-mail. Your music is really bad! I don’t know who listens to it, but I imagine it’s, like, six-year-olds – and it’s a bad message.’ ”

On parents who let their kids watch The Hangover: When little kids tell him they loved The Hangover, he’ll tell them they have terrible parents. “And I mean it.”

Nick Cassavetes Replaced Liam Neeson in ‘The Hangover Part II’

A last minute change required a reshoot of the much talked about tattoo artist scene in The Hangover Part II. Liam Neeson had to be cut out and Nick Cassavetes was his replacement.

Director Todd Phillips decided to reshoot the scene in which the cameo featured, and Liam Neeson is no longer available. (Blame the Clash of the Titans sequel.) So he’s been replaced by The Notebook director Nick Cassavetes.

It was originally going to be a Mel Gibson cameo until Zack Galifianakis protested his appearance in the movie, leading to Neeson being cast. I bet Todd Phillips decided to pick him since he already looks like he could be a tattoo artist with that neck tattoo. I’m disappointed that Neeson got cut, he was probably great. I’m hoping they put his cameo on the Blu-ray release.

First ‘Due Date’ Trailer With Downey Jr. and Galifianakis

Here’s the first trailer for the upcoming Todd Philips (The Hangover, Old School) comedy starring Robert Downey Jr., Zach Galifianakis and Jamie Foxx.

While the trailer didn’t have me rolling, I have a lot of faith that this one will be hilarious. All that comedic talent in one place is bound to bring us a lot of laughs.

Zach Galifianakis is Humpty Dumpty in ‘Shrek’ Spin-Off?

Zach GalifianakisHumpty Dumpty

Zach Galifianakis is certainly not having a shortage of work since his role in the hit movie The Hangover. He’s likely to play Humpty Dumpty in the new Shrek spin-off, Puss in Boots.

Following his big splash with summer’s $461 million grosser “The Hangover,” Galifianakis has scooped up a batch of film roles. Now, he’s entered negotiations to voice the Humpty Dumpty character in “Shrek” spinoff “Puss in Boots.”

“Puss” is set to unspool in Nov. 4, 2011. The character Puss in Boots also co-stars in DWA’s fourth installment of “Shrek,” May 21 opener “Shrek Forever After.”

This is going to be a funny one, especially if they keep adding on talents like Galifianakis. I can’t help but feel like they are milking this franchise a little too much, the first two Shrek movies were great, but the third lacked that same charm. Perhaps they can get it back with the next two films.

‘Hangover’ Director’s New Comedy to Star Robert Downey Jr. and Michelle Monaghan

The Hangover director Todd Phillips‘ next comedy is called Due Date and it’s set to star Robert Downey Jr.Michelle Monaghan and of course (his new favorite) Zach Galifianakis.

Warner Bros. has (Due Date) scheduled for a Nov. 5, 2010 release.

Downey will play an expectant father who finds himself on a road trip with a mismatched partner, as he races to get there before his wife (Monaghan) gives birth to his first child. Galifianakis plays his road trip mate in a comedy that Phillips calls “a buddy comedy without the buddies.”

After Philips finishes this movie he’s going back to make The Hangover 2, hope both of these are as funny as Old School and The Hangover.

‘Hangover’ Galifianakis Might be in ‘Kind of a Funny Story’

Zach Galifianakis from the summer hit The Hangover is in negotiations to star in a new film called It’s Kind of a Funny Story.

Zach Galifianakis is in negotiations to star in “It’s Kind of a Funny Story,” the coming-of-age dramedy from “Half Nelson” writer-directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden.

Focus Features and Misher Films are teaming on the project. Wayfare Entertainment is financing and producing. A shoot date this year is planned.

The pic, based on Ned Vizzini’s young-adult novel, tells of a teenage boy who, after a bout of depression, is sent to a mental institution, where he ends up in the adult ward and meets a number of offbeat adults as well as a quirky teenage girl.

He’s obviously going to play one of the offbeat adults. He’s proven himself by starring in The Hangover and being pretty funny, now the roles are just falling into his lap. I hope he stays fresh for a long time to come.

‘Hangover’ Director Gets Two New Projects Including ‘Hangover 2′

showest2009day2-irxxhp6fycl

The director of the comedy The Hangover has plenty of work lined up.

Todd Phillips will next direct the road trip comedy “Due Date” and follow one year later with “The Hangover 2.”

Galifianakis will play one of the two leads in “Due Date,” an Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland script that was revised by Adam Sztykiel. In the comedy about fatherhood, an expectant dad and his unlikely travel companion (Galifianakis) race cross-country in hopes of making it home for the birth of his first child.

Both “Due Date” and “The Hangover 2″ will follow the same production track as “The Hangover.” The plan is for the “Due Date” shoot to begin Oct. 6, and the film will be released next year in the first weekend of June, just like “The Hangover.” The sequel will begin production in October 2010 and will be released Memorial Day weekend 2011.

I spent some days on the set of The Hangover, Phillips is a perfectionist, as many good directors are. I expect his next two films will be on par with his previous work, he has time to work it all out.
