Zooey Deschanel & Ben Gibbard Split

The New Girl will be going solo.

Zooey Deschanel and her husband, Ben Gibbard have announced they are splitting up.

Dechanel, 31, and Gibbard, 35, met 3 years ago when their mutual music manager set them up together. (Zooey is in the group She & Him and Ben fronts Death Cab for Cutie.)

The pair subsequently married in Seattle, Washington in 2009.

A source says the separation isn’t messy.

“It was mutual and amicable,” the source shared. “There was no third party involved.”

People magazine reports that a divorce is on the horizon and this does not appear to be a trial separation.

Deschanel is currently busy with New Girl, her hit show for Fox, and she just released a holiday album – A Very She & Him Christmas.

Zooey Deschanel: Fun With Florals At ‘Winnie The Pooh’ Premiere

Zooey Deschanel was certainly busy last weekend.  She partied at the BAFTA Gala on Saturday.  On Sunday, she attended the premiere of Disney’s new Winnie The Pooh movie.   That’s got to be kind of a let-down, don’t you think?  One minute you’re hobnobbing with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the next you are on the red carpet for a questionable reboot of a children’s flick.  Man.

Zooey looked really cute in a white dress with an Impressionistic floral pattern, and peep toe pumps.   I like this dress, even though it reminds me of certain home decor from the 1970s:  wallpaper, bedspreads… if you were around then, you know what I’m talking about!

More views of Zooey after the jump.

Zooey Deschanel At BAFTA Brits To Watch Gala

Zooey Deschanel checked out the BAFTA Brits to Watch Gala that was held at the Belasco Theatre on Saturday July 9th as part of Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s North American tour.

The (500) Days of Summer actress picked a tea length dress from Oscar de la Renta. The beige colored, embroidered silk organza frock was paired with minimal accessories and Deschanel looked terrific.

Deschanel, 31, was invited to the event with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as guests of honor to celebrate up-and-coming British talent in the entertainment industry.

Zooey Deschanel Covers Lucky Magazine For April

Zooey Deschanel is a standout on the really red cover of Lucky magazine for April 2011.

The 31 year-old actress spoke to the magazine about her style and fashion tastes. Just don’t call her quirky – Deschanel says that code for “weird.”

On her personal style: “I would say girly, flirtatious, colorful. Feminine, maybe, and soft. But yeah, definitely colorful.”

On her “style test” for an outfit: “What if I need to run away? Just take off at any minute? I want to be able to run away and dance at all times.”

On dressing up as a child: “I wanted to be really girly, like Dorothy from ‘The Wizard of Oz.’ I’m still the same way.”

On her favorite party dress: “I was 14 and wanted to wear a red dress to a party. I was just determined. So I found all this old material from Christmas stockings, and I taught myself how to sew. It had white lace at the top and an empire waist, and it was knee length — it was actually really cute.”

On LA’s new fashion trends: “I’m not a leather-dress, bondage-pumps type of person. All those straps and zippers look horrible on me. Am I going to kill someone with that shoe? I like things that are pretty. I like dressing up.”

Sunny ’500 Days of Summer’ Poster

500daysofsummershowest-09

Here’s the new poster for the upcoming romantic comedy, 500 Days of Summer.

It’s nice to see a poster that people actually spent some time on to give it detail, not just a bunch of giant heads in a row.

Zooey Deschanel Shines In White

Jenny McCarthy might have stolen the show from hubby Jim Carrey at the premiere of Yes Man, but Zooey Deschanel shone in her all-white outfit.

Zooey plays an indie musician in the movie, so of course it’s natural that she’d contribute to the soundtrack too. She commented on making music for the film:

“I usually write music alone, so it was fun to write with other people,” she said. “All those girls are so great, and so talented and funny and smart and it was a fun process because we had a week to rehearse. Von Iva is the name of the band, so I just joined their band for a week and it was really fun. It wasn’t so hard. I mean, I’m in a band myself and I write music and I do go to see shows a lot and so it wasn’t too much of stretch for me.”

It’s interesting to see Zooey doing so many mainstream movies. Maybe now more people will get to see how talented she is!
