‘Michael Jackson’s This Is It’ Has Already Made $19 Million

thisisit

Michael Jackson’s This Is It opened this week in theaters and it’s already raked in an impressive $19 million.

Concert doc “Michael Jackson’s This Is It” from Sony Pictures continued to dominate the box office in its third day ringing up $7.9 million at 3,481 venues for a running cume of $19.1 million.

For Sony, “This Is It” looks to mark the studio’s seventh No. 1 opener this year at the box office after the release of “Zombieland” earlier this month. While the $7.4 million opening day of “This Is It” on Wednesday charted under the $8.6 million first Friday of Disney’s “Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour,” the Michael Jackson pic has outperformed the opening days of other music docs including Disney’s “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience” ($5 million) and Paramount’s “Tupac: Resurrection” ($2.2 million).

It’s quite clearly going to be the most dominant concert film, I just wonder if it will be #1 over this holiday weekend.

I just received a message from my source in Las Vegas that Tupac Shakur’s killer has been arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Tupac died on September 13, 1996. On the night of September 7, 1996, Shakur was shot four times in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. He died six days later of respiratory failure and cardiac arrest at the University Medical Center.  Tupac Shakur was a rapper, actor, and social activist.

Tupac Is Still Alive…

… at least in the heart of many crazy fans! Tupac Shakur impersonators are a new trend and everyone still wants to believe the famous rapper is still alive. TMZ has caught various 2Pac’s having fun at a club and asking for good weed… oh come on, it can’t be him!!

If Tupac was really still alive and his death thirteen years ago was part of some big conspiracy, don’t you think he would have changed his appearance!? He sure wouldn’t want to be caught clubbing, that’s for sure! What the heck am I saying!? Tupac is dead!

Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes’ Solo Album (Sort Of) to Hit Shelves

It’s a project I’d been excited about since 2001, and when the release of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes‘ solo album Supernova finally did come, it was just months prior to her fatal car crash in Central America’s Honduras. The album was never released domestically, but thanks to some creativity (or small pockets looking for a cash cow), a 12-track album Eye-Legacy (that’s the best her people could have done?) will be hitting store shelves November 11th.

The album’s first single “Let’s Just Do It” features friend and collaborator Missy Elliott, alongside the project’s other collaborators Lil’ Mama, Bobby Valentino, and Chamillionaire.

Once again– that’s the best her people could have done? Really? Give me a posthumous TLC reunion with guest vocals from T-Boz and Chili, and then I might take this seriously.

There is a collaboration between Lopes and Tupac, (the track “Legendary”) but that’s already on the album I own.

A percentage of the proceeds from the album sales will go to the Lisa Lopes Foundation and her orphanage in Honduras, according to UrbanNetwork. In April 2002, Lopes was vacationing in the Central American country when the SUV she was driving flipped over. Lopes was the only fatality among the eight passengers in the vehicle. She was 30.

Faith Evans Finally Gives Her Side

When the album sales are down (her last album somewhat made an impact on the charts, barely charting Gold), drug-use rumors are flittering about, and a biopic is in the works for your late husband, it’s time to ride the financial wave yourself and pen a book telling everyone your side of the drama.

Notorious for her shotgun wedding to the late Notorious BIG, Faith Evans came to R&B fame in her own right with her platinum-charting hits (like “Soon As I Get Home” and “Burnin Up”) but has since settled into a comfortable life with a new husband, her son Chris (with Biggie) and two more children in Atlanta, GA. A far cry from her days sparring verbally with naysayers like Lil’ Kim and the late Tupac, no?

Keep the Faith is expected to hit bookshelves next month (August 29). Saying “My journey has been complicated on many levels. And since I am always linked to BIG, there are a lot of misconceptions about who I really am,” of the memoir, I’m officially interested!
